Well, I'm too late with this, but remember to sing this next time you have to make a cake. You can't go wrong if you memorize this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-azqXygCzO8

It did, but it's dirty and scratched up a bit now, so it just rides slightly amazing I so miss the bite and squeaks I have on my mod, so looks like the clean white rims are going to get a minor facelift with a grinding wheel tonight.

"The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho Not much of a reader, but this was one I couldn't put down and it made me think. A young shepherd dreams of a distant treasure in Egypt. He leaves Spain to literally follow his dream regardless of what life throws at him. Kinda spiritual, but not religious. A neat ending too. "The Hot Rock" by Donald E. Westlake This was the only other book so far that I actually liked. A group of professional thieves get into an amazing and seemingly never-ending diamond heist. Pretty funny with good characters.

What is it with Pokemon? It's the same story over and over and over and yet I'll still watch it if I catch it on the tube. Anyway, another band name: Left-Handed Reunion. hehe

Nah, haven't tried maguras yet. Went with the vee's because of availability - and that's what I know. Was really considering dual disc for a while, but wanted to keep it simple 'cause that's how I roll. I also like the squeaking.

More focus to carry on through day to day life. I get so easily sidetrac ...

Nice steed there! That one looks "one mission specific." Thanks for sharing!

The Three Amigos? Oh wait. Forget that.

Hope not. No fun building something like that if I can't have fun destroying it too. thank you for the nice comments. Will post some later when I get the headset switched out. Cheers!

Tricycle's Dilemna. Do I win a cookie?

Attempting to add a few pics. Bike is done! Plan to switch the headset with an Echo SL unit to make all the gold jive. OCD that way ;-) I'll list what I can remember. BT Raven 7.0 Zhi rims, no grind - yet ) Maxxis Minion single ply ST up front/double out back Echo TR hubs, Crank bolts, gold bling nipples, v-booster DT Swiss something or other spokes 3x both wheels KMC Kool 810 Tensile 18t FW Meta TCS cranks and bash Trialtech bars, 16t rear sprocket, BB and mag pedals Avid FR-5 levers, media blasted and painted Avid SD-7 vee brakes Moe green vee pads Viz stem, headset in annoying non-matching gold Echo Control vee fork, blasted and painted, disc tab hacked off for bonus points Some kind of gray grips. Built it from the ground up. Learned how to lace and tension/true the wheels and figured everything else out along the way. What a great experience. Only thing I couldn't manage was breaking the chain as my cutter wasn't manly enough to do the job, so I took it to my LBS for that. Took many months of saving and extra freelance art work to make it happen. I'm so happy! That's pretty much it. Maiden voyage was a real treat! Gonna really like playing around on this. Think it suits me better than the mod already/ A few minor upgrades soon, but time to tear it all up! Wanna thank Tartybikes for helping me with a lot of questions. I bet I was a real pain in the arse. They rock! Hope you like. . . .

If you're sure it's the spokes then loose spokes can be the problem, as suggested - OR - the spoke nipples aren't turning freely when you tighten them. The spokes can actually wind up and will make funny creaking or pinging noises as you ride around. If it's the latter case, that will eventually go away as the spokes work themselves back into form. A bit of oil where the nipple runs through the rim and at the threads before tightening can help with this if this is the case. Hope that helps.

Yeah, KFC churns me up a bit too. Tasty stuff though. I avoid it for the most part, but will grab a small order of macaroni and cheese from them on occasion.

Wheels built! Must be beginner's luck, but managed to lace 'em 3x right both times with the Echo label visible through the valve hole and facing the right direction on each one. Spoke tensions were a little low on the front rim and the rear dishing was off by about 3mm, but about 20 minutes and a little guidance from my bike shop guy and they're ready to roll. Thanks for all the input, suggestions, links and tips regarding this. Hope to finish building bike late tonight and maybe have some pics up tomorrow. -Cheers!

Same here. The exception being a few brands of frozen pizza at the grocery or the novelty ones with stupid toppings.
-
Yes. Don't know what brands may be available to you over there, but hit up your local shop for a decent dual compound all weather slim brake pad. Usually fairly cheap and work wonders over the bricks they usually install from the factory. Been using Kool Stops with great success even in heavy rain. Cheers!

So all this talk about bacon and eggs has me wanting to cook tonight. Tell me more about this bacon sandwich. Aside from bread and bacon, what else you put on it? Just mayo or something like that? Lettuce? Never had a bacon sam'ich, but it sounds righteous.

This dingy little Chinese place makes the best szechuan dumplings. Worth the 30 minute round trip. I'll order three or four servings and save them up for the rest of the week. They're steamed pork dumplings in a really hot peanut sauce. Food of the gods, I tell you. Only problem: the girl who prepares them knows I like them spicy, so she overdoes it. They cut a hole right through me, but I don't care. Pain is temporary. Dumplings are forever.

Looks great! Dig the rotor. I'm sure that 203mm gets the job done! Thanks for sharing!

Me too Think I should remove the decals on the downtube? Been considering that. Mmmmm stealthy.

Anyone ever have reoccurring dreams, where it's about the same on different occasions? I have one, and it only happens when I get pretty sick with a fever. I am a little kid again in a poorly lit room. Not scary or anything. Standing on a giant piano bench playing a giant piano. Maybe it's 50x the size of a normal one. Don't recall any sensible music. Funny how it only seems to show up when I'm sick. Other than that, usual occasional dreams that I can only remember for a bit.

LOL Made it so light, it floated away?

Hi all, I know white bikes may be old news over there, but I like the way they look, so that's what I'm running with. Making use of a media blaster and some high quality paints in a feeble attempt to make everything match. Note that curing paint in the oven: 1) Does not go over well with your girlfriend (even if it's your oven) 2) Doesn't work so well if it gets too warm, as noted by the booster which yellowed. Haha Waiting on spokes, hopefully building the wheels next week. White rims, btw. If all goes well, I'll have it all scratched up proper by next weekend! Will post all the parts and whatnot when it's complete. Hope you like so far. Here's the other pic.

Generally I let my bikes stay oily/muddy/dirty/bloody until something breaks. Then I'll tear down the majority of the bike and clean meticulously. I would avoid pressure washing / direct spray with a hose around the FW, chain, BB and headset though.
