I havnt' watched vid yet, but techincally he sidehopped up 10 pallets if that still is of him stuck, but and this is a big but he wouldnt be able to sidehop that high in inches onto a wall, so easiest way to resolve is that he can sidehop up ten pallets but not a wall 10pallets high. But kudos to him, fooooooooooooooooking huge.

To be perfectly honest I have used all sorts of crap and have always gone back to a light grind with soft pads. I found tar was just messy and you start with a little and you end up using more and more as with all the above methods as they coat the rim and leave crap all stuck in your pads. I have used monty brake spray and it never worked well in my opinion as too much would stick your rim to the pad and using the method described above meant it lasted about 15 minutes riding till you started to feel as if you wanted more. The above problem with every single method above is water and as we are all aware autumn is apon us even though summer never seemed to apper. If any and i mean any get slightly damp then they slip like you don't have a brake then you have to properly clean them all off before reapplying which is a bitch, there are 2 things for you to do and a third if you want. 1. Clean your rim with white spirit and take your time and make sure all crap is gone. 2. Properly set up your maggies or v's with decent pads, if they don't grip they are not set up correctly or need bleeding. 3. Grind your rim, it doesn't need to be harsh just an edge but that way you never have to worry about gripping only the price of replacing pads. The best set up I have ever had was a very very very clean d521 that i use to clean every ride with muc off and some plaz pads. I spent a tonne of time setting up and it used to work a treat. My current set up is also very good which is a light grind on a koxx rim with red rimjam pads, echo booster. If you need tips on setting up maggies my best advice is when I set them up i tend to put the maggie tight to the rim square with the bolts loose, the slowly pull the lever till it is at the point which you would want brakes to lock. release and tighten the maggie bolts, this has never failed, once you can set them up well this way you never have to touch them and it only takes ten minutes to set them up properly eachtime after. I live in Broxbourne, closest large riding town is Harlow, I work in basildon as of next friday so southend or basildon area would be cool after work.

Hi, Unfortunately for me the last rider in my area has sold his bike and now left me on my lonesome, as much as I like my own company it has become a bit repetitive riding the same spots on my own. Are there any guys/ gals who ride in Herts or Essex on a regular basis that I could come tag along with to go for a ride. My email is matthart1988@hotmail.co.uk Cheers guys, Matt
-
yeah that would be kool, I was thinking along the line of screwing something into where the mounts would be and unscrewing them dropping the mounts on something down however far 24" needs and welding the mounts on and using something to brace it against the frame and use a v booster.
-
I want to stay using rim brakes but run 24" wheels, Is there any adapters out there that will take my 26" rim brake mounts down to 24"? Cheers guys Matt Oh yeah forgot to mention they are v mounts not 4 bolt.

I've never found that i needed to grind a front rim, i did once but it wasn't really needed, there was a difference but it was good enough before, if you ride a lot in the wet then maybe its an idea.
-
Other option is get some decent grippy pedals and good shoes, I use to try using pads but i ended up smacking my knee as the pedal slid up them, the best fix is a decent set of soles. Plus chicks dig scars (so i've been told, mine just thinks there messy). Matt

If anyone is interested me and a mate are having a ride in Harlow, Essex, 7:30ish, great place for riding. email me on trials101@hotmail.co.uk, asap, all are welcome, cheers Matt

Clean rim with white spirit, file pads down to fresh material, get a decent booster if you already dont have one, make sure that your pads are moving as soon as you pull the lever incase they need a bleed.
-
I can only imagine it was everest he went down with an uber sharp grind. It still seems odd it has worn down so quickly, just out of curiosity what pads were they? Matt
-
Yeah, i reckon so, obviously if the guys has just become a father i know thats a rough time but its kind of irritating that i busted my ass to send him the money next day special delivery and recieve nothing for weeks, i just desperatly need the wheel, so if anyone knows him or is in contact with me can they contact him and me. Cheers Matt

I am probably going to get a set of sd7 and xtr levers, do you guys know if the sram flak jacket cables are stiff or where i can get some clarks cables. I will go for some heat sink adapters echo brake booster and plaz pads, see how that works? What setup do the guys with v's run on here?
-
It looks like a raleigh flogger, i have an old frame in my garage that looks the same, I use to love riding it, takes me back to the good old days when people were happy with you riding trials on anything. Matt

I have to agree that a d521 can not be beaten for strength. They are bomb proof, although some people don't like thin rims I have always loved riding them. I have dented and broken wide rims throughout my time but never a d521. Although i do ride a wide rim as all though d521's are stronger wide rims arent that expensive and last long enough for me.

Yeah i agree with the parralell push crap on the brakes as the avids were such a pain, they ke[t falling apart lol. I realised after a while they weren't all they were cracked up to be as aslong as you know how to setup a v properly you don't need the parralell stuff. I like the feel of the xtr levers but may look at some avid arms then. Cheers guys? Who out of the people on here ride a rear v?
-
I have been out of riding for a while. I am just getting back into it and back in the day I use to ride on v's and maggies but use to love the simplicity of vee's. I am looking at getting a set as my old avid arch rivals have seen better day. I was thinking of just an all round xtr set up with plazmatic pads. What are your guys thoughts on a set up as being away for a while may have led me to miss any new products etc? Cheers Matt
-
Top stuff mate, just what i was after.
-
Does any one know where you can get an adapter to change from 4 bolt to v, or is it a job for me and my welding kit? Cheers Matt
-
get him an old skool monty with an eno, he'll be away, he has so much more in him on a shorter bike, i had the same thing when i was younger, im a short lad, i tried long bikes but rode much better on a pashley 26mhz and a leeson, you wouldn't have thought at first but long isnt always the way, even now i have to keep it shortish.

What a lot of people don't do properly and this really helped me get those big gaps sorted is pre-load, learn to throw your weight back and down before you gap and spring out, use your legs and arms as much as possible, a lot of people rely on a kick but you get bigger distances with you body not the kick. relax youself and become supple, try exagerating all your movement until the 6 foot gaps become easy then start trying further once they are done with ease.
