If it's an alu piston can he not just take it out and put a bit of lube in? if he's certain there's no air then there could be a small obstruction in the bore or it's dry and it won't slide up easily.

What shop was it?

My newsfeed is full of bikes which is nice It kills time which I have to kill. It's a nice way to blank out sometimes, and me and my friends use it to send each other pictures/links that we find funny I wouldn't say i'm dependant on it but I'd find it a bit boring without it.
