Should be thick enough. 1) Make the bolt holes slots as opposed to just holes so it has more sideways adjustment. 2) Is there enough tyre clearance?

I do that every time I ride Birmingham. I live just outside the centre by 3 miles and it takes half an hour at a nice relaxed pace. It's easily doable, especially if you have music/ipod/radio.

This. Adam's one rides so well, nice on the back wheel but really flicky and spinny. The stem that comes on them as standard though is horrendous!
