I always thought it was the frame that flex'd?

I found that even on my born frame, with a stupidly stiff back end, my cranks wouldnt hit if you rode normally, but when i put the power down i could flex the back of the frame and hit the cylinder with the crank. I expect he'd have the same issue considering they run that close. I'd advise selling your burns and get new cranks. Burns are sought after, and to be honest you could be left with money in your pocket if you sell them and buy some cranks with more offset

Moves the cranks closer to the brake cylinders

i had a similar issue on my born running tensile cranks. I got around it by putting a small washer between the crank and where the crank buts up on the bb.

Wouldn't it just be worth just archiving them every 'x' months to prevent it?

They mean put spacers/washers either side of the wheels so that the chain doesn't rub the plates

It lasted for the ride, then i ordered new pedals. It was one of those things where i got the bike out of the car, and about 5 minutes later the pedal broke, and i was like 'i am bloody well riding today'.

As long as the pads arn't on the backing, they'll work fine. They do tend to loose their effectiveness when they wear down very thin, but disk pads usually last years
