  3. I went from a Levelboss with a 1085 wheelbase to a Czar about a month ago, and i would recommend it all the way. It is strange to begin with, but within the first 2 days of riding i was already inproving in some areas. Taps stayed about the same not really feeling huge improvement in that area, side hops initially deteriated, but now have improved to better than they were before. My gaps to back wheel also initally deteriated (because of the extra bb height), but soon were back to the level i was at previously, but my gaps to front wheel improved from the word go! Gaining maybe an extra 6 inches on my previous best. For natural, comp style riding the frame has improved my riding loads! The high bb makes a huge difference and i find sectioning easier. Again to begin with i didnt like it, but after the initial shock of changing it is a great frame. The 1100 wheel base does sound a bit excessive, but with the bb rise it makes the frame ride like a 1085 (or so) and i am only 5'7", and i am handling it pretty dam well  All in all i think a bb rise is a risk, you might hate it, but unless you try the bike (and i dont just mean go on a mates) you will never know... and to be honest, if you hate it i bet there are people who would buy a second hand Czar.... (GO FOR THE CZAR)
  4. 68 * 118 or maybe play safe and go for a 68 * 121 if the cranks are old.
  5. i think it was generally accepted to be 15 feet....huge!
  6. Hi there. Right, the reasons you should pick me are: - I can set up break pads correctly (which, lets face it, a LOT of people can't), i will therefore be reviewing the compounds, rather than a dodgey set up! - I have used a range of pads including koxx browns, reds and yellows, coust pads, plaz CRM's and Planet-x stickys. And recently i have been switching a lot to see which works best in the persent conditions of winter. - I ride competitions (Tyke trials) at expert level, so I will be putting the pads through the real pressures of that style of riding. I am also riding a decent amount on the street, I.e. will be able to test the pads on large moves. - I enjoy riding in the rain just as much as the sun, so i will be able to give fair comments about how they perform in the rain. - I ride almost everyday so i will give them a lot of use. All in all i am a decent rider (without wanting to blow my own trumpet) and i will be able to write a decent review concerning all areas you are interested in. I ride a ronnie rim and have a 2005 magura set up on a Czar frame with no booster. Thanks, Phil.
  7. You keep saying that, but you havent backed it up with any evidence. I think we all just find it hard to believe because we dont understand how your vinco is a foot longer that everyone elses? What have you possibly done or got that makes it soooooo long? because as i said up there it can only be the forks making it so much longer, so they mus sweep fowards about 30 cm which doesnt seem atall realistic. so is that the case? Sorry to keep going on, but i am facinated by the fact your bike is a freak and longer than all other of its kind by over 30cm.
  8. also the zoo! is tacky.... Kind of like a kid let loose with a CNC machine! (Y)
  9. Sorry but i completely refuse to believe it is 1450, you would have to have over 30cm foward sweep on your forks (assuming they are a normal length).... which blatently isnt the case. By the sounds of things u are measuring from the end of the tyre to the end of the tyre instead of hub to hub (as wheel base is actually measured). If not you are not reading your tapemeasure correctly. Sorry but it isn't 1450, i dont even need to see it to know that is wrong. But if it is right i will eat my hat.
  10. Anyway..... all he was wanting to know was long or short, and i say short for street. i personally would get the long and make do with that for street aswell, but thats because i mainly ride natural now. So if you are purely a street rider, get the short.
  11. Yeah he is still riding it, it belongs to Adam and Dave, it wasn't actually a prototype for onza, it was just made by them to Ads specification. He is still undecided wether to put it into production or not, and it rides nice too :P
  12. do it with some wire wool, thats how tom rigg did his frame i think and his looked really good.
  13. nice vid tom... i wish i had gone on that ride. Some amazing riding off the lot of you, keep it up (Y) I had a problem with the music - it all played really slowly, but the vid was normal speed :P so it sounded funny (Y) lol Anyway, nice vid and give us a call, KBT need to regroup :P :P
  14. TO WORK OUT HOW TWO RATIOS COMPARE, DIVIDE THE NUMBER OF TEETH ON THE FRONT SPROCKET, BY THE NUMBER OF TEETH ON THE REAR SPROCKET. Ok now thats sorted, i would suggest a ratio of around 1.2 i use 22 : 18 which correlates to 1.2222.... so around that, but at the end of the day it is down to what works for you.
  15. Are you using a disc or rim brake? If you are using a disc see if you can get your hands on some cannondale fatty R's. They will outlast most other forks. As for Curtis forks, they will most likely be steel, therefore not what he asked for... (Y)
  16. Onza carbons all the way mate! i have them and i love them, the extra width is ace, it helps loads on technical stuff - more control once you get used to it (which took me one ride). Also, yes they are perfectly strong, they are actually constructed around aluminium, so they will easily take all the abuse.
  17. Nice i was just looking for a pic like that, but you beat me to it! :)
  18. And if you want that in english, it translates to be.... Run around the side wall of your rim with an angle grinder. This will roughen the side wall causing there to be more friction with the brake pads, in turn giving better braking.
  19. When you say pad moving do you mean the cylinder is moving in the brake mounts?
  20. Yeah, tomm is correct, you do need to apply a decent amount of pressure to have a nice rough grind, and you would have to really cock up to damage your rim. Also, a wire brush doesnt work atall, it is crap - it has been tried, believe me!

    Fort Bill

Good idea Wayne, there are a few people who i would like to ride with again from that ride.... I'm Phil King - riding a 2004 levelboss 1065 with red rims but the old(ish) black koxx stickers. The whole weekend was a raging success, i loved it all. It was so nice to have a croud of people watching and cheering you on in sections aswell... it gave me a feel of actually being (semi) important :P Definately worth the MEGGA journey, big thanks to TOM RIGG for taking me and andrew walker the 700 miles.... Definately appreciated.
  22. Pompeii is in italy - fool, at the base of mount Vesuvius. And yes it was reduced to ruins when the volcano errupted in 79AD
  23. I think it seems like a good idea, but in practice the welding (well the heat from the welding) made the rim soft as cheese, so it defeated the object a bit.
