  1. More bits arrived today. Tyres, Hope Headset, rear Magura and Hope Trialzone Front brake and then got another crankset arrived tomorrow so hopefully i'll have better luck with them. I tried the magura clamps in hope that they'd be offset enough for my rear wheel but my fears came true so new wheel so its all nice fresh n new
  2. Idiot award goes to me. 30mm axle on the raceface of course i'd order the wrong bb also having doubts about spacing so i'm unfortunately gonna send the cranks back and get some Raceface Chesters and they look like they'll space out a bit more from the bb and it comes with a bottom bracket
  3. Hmm i could be that guy and deny you of that rim... haha I have a echo tr front wheel on my Zoo so depending on whether it sells complete or if it gets split then i may take it off that but thanks anyways :L Sad day putting that up for sale started off as an Ashton Diamond back and became an endless money pit so it'll be good to start fresh when i get this built
  4. I'll give it a miss then haha. I've just checked my order status for the rest of my parts which the order was pushed back to the 22nd due to the bottom bracket not being in stock which i was going to get a raceface but then found out a shimano one will work so i'll be ordering a shimano bb and then the rest of the parts should be here next week. I received my forks, stem, chainring and bashguard today and i think i'll your advice on the DeeVee rim. Think i may need to slow down on what i'm spending at the moment D: but its pretty much too late now as it's only the rear wheel i need to sort now... i'll have to wait n see if i can sell my Zoo! quick but from past experiences with selling a trials bike it never goes too quick
  5. Has anyone used Halo SAS rims? just thought it might be slightly better as it's a 35mm and seem relatively bomb proof
  6. Well it looks like I'll have to get one of them rims just put my rear wheel in to try with these slaves I have and there's no chance without either offset clamps which don't seem to be a thing anymore so guess its gonna be a deevee rim. So anyone wanna buy a Hope Pro II on a 44mm Echo TR rim? haha...
  7. I suppose if worse comes to worst i'll probably go for the DeeVee rim but don't know how well it would hold a grind and i'd have to live with the fact my front rims 2mm wider... but first i need to test this wheel first..
  8. I think the thing with carbon trials parts they seem to be a bit thicker than most other carbon parts like on the road side of things and sometimes mtb side of thing. They do feel mega stiff and can be repaired but depending on how deep something goes into it. Probably the only issue if anyone has any is over tightening as it seems there's no real torque setting for trials stems/bars only what you'd cross reference from road/mtb either that or I'm a very particular person when it comes to torque ratings :L but yeah not seen anything yet of them failing
  9. Hmm could be tempting I'll have to see how things turn out as I've been contemplating going back to v brake so I could space them out wider than a magura and knowing my track record with hydraulics it's gonna be a possibility haha but cheers for the hint
  10. just measured my echo rim and yeah it's gonna be interesting... we'll see what happens I have random slaves at home I can try with pads in to see if it'll work but yeah maybe I'll need a new rear wheel D:
  11. so limited these days with rims i'd much rather have a double wall rim but everything is single wall and wide as hell now besides the inspired rims which arent often in stock. Well sounds like this could go one of two ways which i'll only be able to find out once the parts arrive i suppose haha obviously too eager to build it up... :L
  12. Yeah I wasn't 100% sure on what cranks to go for to be honest i just thought as it's a 64mm bcd i should hopefully have the clearance but i'll have to wait for the bb and chainring to arrive first to give it a good go. could be a pain if it doesnt work which i'll just have to play with the preload ring and see if i can slacken it of and fit a spacer drive side. Things seem to be a lot narrower on this frame as i've already failed to fit my Trialtech carbon booster on the back due to the mounts not being wide enough... fortunately that was just one i found in my bits box :L
  13. I've had the rear wheel for about 4 years now and still going strong which is an Echo TR rim on a Pro II hub, only had to true it once and I had the guys at tartys build me the inspired wheel with Pro 4 hub alongside their shopping list or something on the box? haha. But i've made a big order on Tredz bikes as i can get discount on there which i saved myself about £150 on there which is pretty good going so got a magura rear brake and Hope Trialzone for the front and then tyres, headset, and bb. Only downside is i'll have to wait a little longer for them to arrive but need to sell my 26" Zoo! first to gain space somewhere in my garage...
  14. Got the frame second hand on ebay have only has storage marks so a scuff on the right side on the bb which is going to be covered up by a bottom bracket so that's no issues, a mark on the head tube which will be covered by a headset and few little marks I wont see under the bb area so no complaints there to be honest
  15. So i've now grown to dislike my current set up after several years of tinkering about to make it how I like so time to start of the new year with a bike build. It kinda went down hill 3 years ago butI seem to prefer starting from scratch and tend to enjoy my bikes more when doing so. So here we are back at this topic and it's finally up n running. Actually impressed with how it rides and have a week off next week to get some propped riding in!
  16. Looks good! building one up myself and glad the stem idea I had for my build doesn't seem too silly now after seeing this :L what size stem you running? still undecided myself
  17. It's probably because with trials you use a lot smaller chainrings so they'll look unnecessarily bulky and most of them require an iscg. You can't really downsize them either so it would then force you to use a larger chainring which defeats the object of a compact out the way system. Interesting idea but a bash ring is a more tidier system
  18. I was looking at sram but i'm afraid of committing to the Integrated bashguard for £65... I've been looking at raceface recently mainly because i've recently had news of getting 25% off pretty much everything at Tredz which is only gonna make me spend more money... but at least it's making the build cheaper to do especially with getting brakes sorted
  19. I wasn't sure if there was any cranks I should avoid like if I would have any clearance issues and I've heard hopes flex quite a bit but may look into the raceface ones as I've heard good things on the mtb side
  20. Hi all, I've recently just got myself a 2011 inspired hex frame but i'm not 100% sure on what crankset to get for. I've been looking at the Sram GX Eagle Chainset which seemed promising and then thinking of getting the inspired bashring/chainring but i've now not heard great things about them. What are people using and whats the best combinations?
  21. Only downfall i can think is potential creaking from the links which either a little dab of grease if your very tedious about it or wd40 or something like that would sort out
  22. Never used the cables myself but they seem pretty decent. I've always used either Jagwire or Uberbikes coated cables and they work amazingly. I guess the positive with these is the flex from the links and the fact that the liner may not be as tight on the cable so smoother through the system. That will always be the issue with standard outer cables although you're getting the coated cables that run smoother than a standard inner cables i suppose with these they have a bit more freedom, well you'd like to hope so with the price of them :L

    Ebikes?

Fair enough thats a cheap alternative to Ebikes but i would never trust them. Ebikes are built to be well of course Ebikes, converting one especially one to have a front motor scares me as all the weight is on the front end and it kicks out more...
  24. I work in dorchester shame i didnt know you were about and i see you went to portland aswell. By far one of the best natural places in the uk again shame i didnt know havent been up in a while D: good riding though!
