  1. no, not really. the freewheel is 120 click, so there will be 10 pawls, engaging every 12 teeth. that gives you the 120 click. Luke, 9 doesn't multiply onto 120. it wouldn't work, there wouldn't be even engagements. chances are one pawl would be in the wrong place
  2. it would effectively be a 120.10, as the 9 refers to the number of pawls. eg 1 pawl every 12 teeth, therefore 9 x 12 = 108. so the viz will have 10 pawls, and 120 teeth. freewheels are usually in multiples of 12, ie tensile 60 and 96 click, viz 72, echo 108, rockman 108.
  3. I thought tensile were making a splined freewheel/crank combo. surprised it hasn't come out yet. as for disks with no holes, you can get them, but they are cheap and shite. carbon rims is a good shout though, bet they wouldn't be cheap at all
  4. +1. I prefer the 04 style to the 05 any day of the week.
  5. ill start the ball rolling, I wish hope would make a 116mm screw on mod hub. I'd buy one instead of any deng stuff cos it's British made. and I'm sure with all hope's genius they could make a decent Magura alternative. thoughts please gentlemen
  6. that's the day of the brimham comp. it got moved from lee quarry to brimham
  7. put a half link in. then you are only less than half a link too long, and a spoke tensioner will work. I ran 18 /13 on my old inspired with a spoke tensioner and it was fine. use the whole above the mech hanger as your start point. go twice round the axle of you can, best to go to a bike shop and ask for a road bike spoke

    Snapped

I snapped mine on my old inspired trying to do a fakie down the local skatepark. had a right gash on my elbow where I went crashing to the ground like I'd been shot. that was a renolds 3/16ths machine chain as well

    Up To Fronts

you taking the piss? I've seen you do loads of up to fronts and they look pretty good to me. with I could be as useless as you at them
  11. I got mine off my cranks with a chain whip on Saturday morning, bit then the whip is modified with kmc z910 chain and we had a 3ft scaffold tube on the end of it. the crank was in a vice as well. you need to tease it off gently. writhing at it doesn't work. gradual force is the way to get these things off
  12. I doubt it, seen as the original post was 3 1/2 years ago
  13. if you are gonna attempt it with a file, have some money in the bank for a new frame, because you would never get the bearing lined up accurately enough, filing by hand, to get it spinning freely. and this will wreck the bearings in a very short time. if you are insistent on going down this route, take it to an engineers shop and get them to use a tank cutter on it. it's basically an arm with a cutting tip on the end that will bore out your bb shell.
  14. it can't be done, as the two sizes of bb shell are completely different. the bearings on a spanish bb are a lot bigger than a standard threaded bb shell.
  15. just go to a bearing suppliers. it'll be a fiver at the most for the bearing. or get them from work of you work in a factory like me
  16. yeah I get what you are saying chief. misunderstood what you meant
  17. what do you do it for then? you wouldn't enter a comp to lose it would you? surely you enter wanting to get the best result you can get. thats my reason for doing it. talking about it to you lot has helped me though, now I have a few people's different takes on it
  18. cheers Dave, I might just do that. being 31 and getting beaten by 11 and 12 year olds who are sponsored up to f**k and have everything bought and prepared for them is a tad demoralising
  19. I'm not mad cos I don't win, I get mad at 5ing stuff and needless dabs. I accept the fact that there are better riders than me in my class who will win it week in week out. as you say, I didn't 5 everything, so you are maybe right that green is for me. you sound like a good bloke to ride with, could do with having you on my bag and generally geeing me up
  20. yeah, but it wasn't that radically different to mine, was just more wary of bashing. big improvement over mine was rear disk. new hope trial zone, it was amazing
  21. maybe, that's why I was thinking of doing the last national at Shipley on white route, and do green at tykes. I think I'd enjoy it a bit more. I've done green at Shipley a couple of times and rode there quite a bit, so I know the terrain. but national level green is properly hard, probably blue level at tykes. I need to rediscover my love for comp riding, cos at the moment I f**king hate it
  22. I should mention that I'm now 31, and have done quite a few different sports to varying degrees of success. I played golf to a quite good level, got my name on a major trophy at the local club, beating some of the best players in the club at that time. so i know what it takes to win. I'm properly passionate about trials and into it, anyone who rides with me will tell you this. I want to win but I can't get my head right. where as if all the same people at trials came to play golf with me, I'd have no trouble playing to win and wouldnt lose my temper. don't know what's up wih me
  23. it properly winds me up when I 5 something, because I know I can ride well most of the time. was riding Shipley glen last week and learnt how to gap. did loads of green and blue level riding and did it ok. get to the comp today and it all goes out of the window. didn't do anything I've learned, and had the worst day out ive ever had. hope it's not this bad again
