  1. Tried that yet? Tar gives a different feel to a grind. With tar the brake is on or off, when it's on it'll stick. With a grind there's much more modulation and if you're not on something enough you'll slip off. You're not gonna get the same feel with a grind as you do with tar. That could be your problem.
  2. If I'm free I'll be there. Any idea on a date yet?
  3. Yawn, they're getting a bit old now.
  4. Chainreaction only appear to have 203mm front discs (which is a bit excessive) and woollyhatshop (perhaps the worst site ever) only have rear ones. The front ones on ebay are 160mm, which is too small. So, anyone know where I can get a 185mm front avid fairly cheap?
  5. I'm going to get an avid mechanical disc but I'm not sure if I want the ball bearing five or the ball bearing seven. From what I can see most people have the seven with the adjuster knob. I'd rather get the five cos there's some cheap front ones on ebay.

    Tech 05

The site suggests it's on but with no venue decided for the first round which is in a few weeks it's not looking too hopeful. I hope it is on, last years was pretty cool.
  7. We've got a couple of series ones. A 1957 88" hardtop and a 1956 86" canvas top. Helped my dad restore them both. They rule! I drive the one on the left
  8. Water is less viscous than oil, so gives a snappier feel. There are hundreds of topics on this if you have a search
  9. It's not quite a simple as ohm's law. You need to use Kirchoff's second law and Thevenin's theorem. But I've forgotten them...
  10. I'm also bored, so let me tell you a tale about the origin of the word bling. Rolls Royce make jet engines that run at rather high temperatures. These have turbines in them that have to withstand the high temperatures. One part of the turbine is manufactured from advanced fibre reinforced composites and other crazy materials. This part is known as a blade turbine ring, which was shortened by engineers to bling. So all those rappers out there with their bling are using a term coined by the coolest of cats, engineers. How about that...
  11. Think you've clicked the outline button at the top right. Click standard, just next to it, and all should be fine. EDIT: Too slow (Y)
  12. Suburbia on Trials-shack
  13. I'm sure you can find out all about it here.
  14. Have you taken the little bearing out of the RB lever? It should be just behind the bleed screw.
  15. I was fooled for a moment by a BMW advert in The Telegraph. It said under European Law left hand drive cars would be banned on the Continent by 2007. It then siad BMW had produced a steering wheel-less car and the project leader was Dr. Bitti Fischi, that's when I twigged. Felt a right fool when I realised, didn't manage to fool anyone...
  16. Morecambe, 12ish around the station Burger King area (Y)

    New Koxx Frames

I don't understand why they've put a kinked two piece seat tube on the mod. They're introducing a weak point where there is no need. I can see any advantage or reason why they'd do that, except to make it distinctive.
  18. It'll be fine. The difference in feel is due to the the water being less viscous than oil. The engine stuff is irrelevant, unless you've gone form running air in your maggies to running water (which you haven't). Basically engines normally take in air and compress it, but if you get water in there when the piston moves up from it lowest point and tries to compress the water it can't because liquids are incompressible, so the engine f**ks itself...
  19. That is a fine machine, is it a late 80"? My transport
  20. My respect for scallies has just increased greatly. They very kindly delivered me a car to ride on. They even had the good grace to burn it out. It's right outside the house, how good is that!
