  1. Whether you need DVD authoring isn't relevant. If it won't play on a DVD player then you need to start worrying about that, but as you've not even got that far then it's not that. If it's failing then it's a problem with either the disk or the drive. DVD drives are really funny about which DVDs they'll take and which ones won't work. So you might have incompatible ones. The only thing you can try before getting some new disks is to burn at a slower speed

    Snowboarding

We went to Morzine a few years back which is in the Ports du soleil - I.e. it's just over the hill from Avoriaz. And yeah, it was a good place to go. Lots of trees which is always nice - the higher alpine resorts don't have any. Plus if you get a port du soleil pass (you definitely should), then you can go all the way over to Les Gets (Busy) the other way into Switzerland over the famous "the wall". All good. P.S. Snowblades are gay

    Snowboarding

I would definitely recommend learning before you go on a dry ski slope (or indoor snow if you live near Castleford/MK). That way you won't waste the first 3-4 days of snowboarding on stupid stuff like sideslipping

    Snowboarding

I went there once, and thought it was really good. But isn't it a bit limited? We only went for a day but managed to do most of the runs. And cause an avalanche

    Snowboarding

Argh, you bitch. I want to go to Whistler Out of interest, how much is it gonna cost you? I'm going on the 15 December for 8 days (6 days actually boarding I think) - We're going with Manchester Uni so that's not much use to you I guess. But check out SkiTheEdge, we went with them twice. Very much budget (youth hostels etc) but good prices. Tom, it depends where you go, but at peak times a "regional" lift pass is likely to be more than that I think. I bought a 4 day one for £80 for (Ports Du Soleil). But still, that sounds like a good way to do it. I'm tempted to do something like that. I've never been anywhere apart from the Alps, but I can't complain. There has always been good snow, and it's always been amazing
  6. Whoa that's cool. Everybody watch this.
  7. I think I posted that aaaaages ago. THIS might be what you're looking for - Escher pictures EDIT:
  8. There are lot of people who have had problems with "fake" CF cards. I've got one that's supposedly a Sandisk Ultra III 2Gb, which I bought from eBay. It's a fake (I.e. it's just a no-name card with a Sandisk sticker on) but it still works OK. Some people have had problems where cheap cards randomly don't save pictures, or they get corrupted easily but I don't know about that - The only difference I have noticed is in the speed, mine is really slow compared to other cards I've got. Not really a problem for me, but if you shoot a LOT of sports, I'd go for something official and fast. I would avoid eBay, as all the CF cards on there are fakes. But anything from a decent reputable supplier in the UK will be fine. But it's worth spending a few more quid on something fast.
  9. Yeah, it's tap or gap or sidehop these days. Combinations not allowed.
  10. Kruschev? Good old GCSE history! My personal opinion is that there's very little I can do about it, so there's no point worrying. That's quite negative though, it's quite scary stuff.
  11. 24 inchers need a bit of BB rise anyway, otherwise the BB is scraping along the floor.
  12. Is it just me, or do you have 2 PSPs?
  13. If you have a card reader or anything like that built into your computer, it will often come up as a few drives in Windows, even if there is no card in. For example, on my PC when you plug the card reader in (even with no card in), 4 removable drives appear (H:, I:, J:, K:). So it'll be something to do with that. Mine doesn't on my Mac
  14. I think you need to shoot into the sun less. The lens flare in those photos is terrible. I quite like the B&W one - would be better if he was riding though.
  15. It usually says on the bottle of anti-freeze. The stuff I got said something like: Down to -5ºC using 10% antifreeze, 90% water. Down to -10ºC using 20% antifreeze, 80% water. Just have a read. Although a magura takes only 15-20ml of water so you don't need very much antifreeze at all.
  16. If it's got a leak in it then it will get spongy very quickly after you've bled it. Make sure all the bolts are tight and look around all the fixing for any leaks. But yeah, most likely there is still some air in there as Joe said.
  17. Well the 24" Leesons seem strong, but then quite a few of them have broken. If you're in the UK, it's easy enough to have Clive fix them and send them back, but if you're in Oz it's not so easy. The FreshProducts ones might be OK, but they're completely unproven as yet. And the Curtises are not indestructable either, and they're a lot more expensive. So it's a hard one. I'd go for a Leeson I think. If you're an "average" rider it should hold up fine
  18. There's not really anything else in that price range, so you don't have much choice. If you want a trials bike then it will work and you'll be able to get to a decent standard on that (by which time you'll have caught the trials bug and want to spend all your money on some new bits anyway!). But don't expect it to be a great ride and to last a long time - There are reasons why you can spend ten times that much on a trials bike. I would say if you're looking for bikes around that price range, you're far better off going for something second hand, if you can find one. Otherwise, you're not going to get anything significantly better for less than about £400 (Which is where the T-Pro comes in).
  19. What's it meant to mean? What you said was just a funny thing to say - as if you were hard up because you had to pay for your own body kit. I didn't mean you were spoilt, it's obvious nobody's parents are gonna buy them a body kit. I ain't accusing you of being spoilt at all. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone etc - There are plenty of people who are much worse off that me so I'd be being very hypocritical if I accused you of being spoilt (same goes for pretty much everyone on here)!

    Speeding Fines

I agree, there's a big difference between 37 in a 30 zone and 60 in a 30 zone. You just got lucky. As for the whole speeding thing - it's not fair to say nobody sticks to the speed limit. I generally do, especially through towns and villages because it's not like you'll actually get anywhere any faster. On the motorway is a different matter though - if you're on a long journey you can save a good amount of time by taking 80 as the speed limit
  21. Wow, you mean your Mum didn't pay for some new body kit? That's harsh Er, me: My parents basically paid for lessons and insurance on my Mum's car. And now (5 years on) I've inherited my Mum's car. It's not worth a massive amount but it's definitely nice. So yeah I had a pretty good deal I know a guy at uni who's my age (and a student) who drives a Mazda MX-5. Bit of a piss-take really!
  22. £395 I think. But they're a good few years old now, not so cutting edge. Still, £185 is not to be sniffed at at all. If that €999 can be translated properly into pounds, it'll go down well. If it translates to £999 it's too much.
  23. No one's gonna warn anyone for their opinions in topics like this. So many people say "Don't warm me for this" when it's completely unnecessary. And you're not going to get warned for grammar errors either, so stop worrying. It's not some sort of tyranny that Tom is running here - he's just trying to make the place run smoothly.
