  1. Will do but first I'm going to install everything again from a proper XP disk as it's already got a virus. Yeah it's got the wireless card built into the laptop, it's a gateway MX6926b I'll update if any better in a few days, cheers anyway
  2. Just connected the laptop to the wireless router through an ethernet cable and it worked fine. Went into device manager and clicked on "update driver" and it didn't work, just scanned for a bit then said you need the original CD, useful. Tried going onto the manufactures site as well and installing network drivers from there, didn't work either. Just can't find anything that says about wireless anywhere in the drivers or on the site. Would it be because I've installed service pack 3 and it used to have service pack 2 (i think)? How can connecting to the internet be so hard, this is why PCs should die a slow death Ok it looks like the net adapter (assuming the wireless one) is working but when I click properties nothing is entered for IP address, address type etc. Must have to do something for it to establish the connection to my wireless, but WHAT?
  3. According to device manager the network card is all working and has the drivers installed. This is what network connections looks like (don't know if this is any help).....
  4. Nope some old gateway thing. Yeah thats what I'm missing I think, the drivers. Scanned and downloaded loads of the drivers off the gateway website but dosen't seem to do much. Don't have the original driver CD as it's about 5 years old. Everything I research talks about wireless USB dongles but this has a wireless card built in which comes up under network connections. However I just can't find anywhere about scanning for wireless networks to connect to mine
  5. Right, my girlfriends laptop was full of viruses so I've formatted it and installed windows XP SP3. Now it all works but there is nothing on it at all (obviously), but the main bugger is getting the little wireless icon in the bottom tray. Any ideas? Main thing to do first is get the net going so I can download stuff. Found this link which is exactly what I want: click but I didn't think that was an extra patch that needed installing? Wireless net is fully working in my house (and hers) but I can't get the laptop to scan to connect to it. Following the crappy wizards on the laptop are next to useless, god I hate PCs. Any help much appreciated
  6. Didn't know you could get an app for the iphone, pretty cool. I did a timelapse on my SLR, one a second but you'll be going a lot quicker in a car
  7. Also the rear mech is hanging out of it's arse. I don't get how you can be "offered" a bike and then say you've seen it for sale.... it does have a reflector though!
  8. After my post about brakes.......got some coming tomorrow. Second hand 2010 Avid elixirs 185/160 in white, pretty much exactly what I wanted, for £105 posted, a bargain too!
  9. I recently looked at getting the 3Gs on O2 and the price was exactly the same per month, all they were going to give me was a 8gb phone for free. So I dished out the £119 for the phone and got the iPhone 4. Amazing bit of kit, feels well made in the hand and is very smooth. Having played quickly with a few HTCs they just arn't as smooth and nice to use. According to O2 about 90% of it's customers will never reach the 500mb limit per month so don't worry about that. It tends to be routine to hate the iphone because it seems like every tom dick and harry has one but it's popular for a reason, it's a great bit of all round kit.
  10. The thing with trying to research on the net about brakes (or anything) is that one person will say they're amazing and another don't bother, so it's hard to know what to do. I would of said from the get go that a Juicy 3 would be pretty turd since it's the lowest end brake they do? Yeah i've heard other people say about saints before but I think they may be a bit much like fatty said. Yeah I think I'll try and get a set of elixirs, should do the job nicely. Plus I've seen a few good sets go on ebay for about £150 which is £50 less than what a set of hope x2's go for. cheers!
  11. Alternatives then? What about higher end avid? Got hayes sole's at the moment which bite ok but as soon as your gunning it down a track it's squeeze and hope! Calipers are too small so heat up quickly
  12. Not quite some DH monster but it does me well, multi use! Recently upgraded the wheels to Mavic EN321 on hope pro 2 and Pike forks, next will be hope x2 brakes.
  13. Nice Ticcy, what brakes are they, V2s? Thinking of getting some hope X2s when I've got some spare cash as the ones i've got now fade really easily
  14. Nice website! I was expecting something way below that standard. You've got some wicked images on there. Onlyyy thing I would say is that as nice a feature as the gallery may be, the images appear very small. Since you're using a 5D mark II images are going to be high quality and sharp so I'd want to see them bigger. The front page images are nice because you can see the level of detail due to their size, however the main images just arn't big enough keep up the good work
  15. A friend of mine who I used to work with is currently in Aus with his girlfriend. They've been there for nearly two years now and are home soon due to their visa running out. He emailed me last night after talking a bit about thinking of going to aus. He said: As for coming to Australia, I'd say hell yes, do it. It’s taught me more about myself then anywhere and I'm going to miss the freedom of the open road so, so much. It’s also a photographers dream. Moneys good with minimum wage being about $18.00 which converts to an impressive 9.00 Pounds an hour. Don’t get drawn into the backpacker crowd though because their all idiots riding Mummies credit card and have to pack an extra bag just to fit the hair straighteners. My top advice for you is this. BUY A CAR. Cheap, rusty hunk o' shit. Whatever. If you have that your ok. Patrols cheap Ford and Holden’s (The Australian GM Motors) have fantastic fuel economy and you can go anywhere. Put a few dents in it? Who cares? Run it into the ground. If you just live in youth Hostels and take the buses or Greyhound coaches all you'll ever see is the inside of Irish themed bars full of fake tanned Essex girls. Buying a van and driving around Australia has changed my life. Really. Countless adventures I'll never forget. I love our little van. For the love of god make sure the air con works though!"
  16. Tic you ever looked into going to Whistler, Canada? Would love to go there and do some riding this summer. Need to get away and go somewhere for a month or so, it's just where and how!
  17. I bought some CX 300's from Play for £8.50 under playtrade, after just under two years one ear bud stopped working and the wire mesh fell out. Sent them back under their two year warranty and they sent me a new replacement of the CX 300 II version. Not bad going for £8.50! Good sound for the money
  18. Thanks very much, great help! Yeah I guessed the U-turn was RS's system for adjusting travel, sounds good. I've got a crappy shimano hub on the front but I'm planning on getting a pro 2 for the rear, so I may get one for the front to match, so the 20mm option is possible! The pikes sound perfect then really if I get a new hub, sweet! I was just getting confused with whats better, coil, air and have no idea what an external floodgate is and all that jazz. Thanks ticcy! How much would you be after for the float 140RL's? I'm looking to slowly upgrade bits before next summer, I've forgotten how expensive upgrading bike bits are, god knows how I afforded to build my trials bike back in the day. Great help everyone, seems to have narrowed it down a bit!

    Rowan Johns - Cs

    Wicked stuff Rowan! So smooth
  20. I see, it's a bit confusing when one person says you have to take them apart to adjust them and your saying they have a travel adjustment nob on top? I didn't think choosing forks would be this hard! Just some decent, adjustable forks with a turnable nob on top, no fancy axels, for under about £350?
  21. I've been told that the RockShox Revelation's can't be travel adjusted from the top, you have to take them apart and put some kind of spacer in? God that sounds like a hassle! I want something I can twist the adjustment nob ontop to quickly change the travel? Also with the Pikes, do they always come with the 20mm Maxle? That won't be any good as I'll need a new hub as well.
  22. Whats the difference between these two then? http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/...Turn_Forks_2009 http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/...Turn_Forks_2009 apart from £50
  23. There seem to be a few talas forks. As in these? http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/...as_R_Forks_2009
  24. Yeah they look good! I'm not sure why mine make a strange clicking noise, very annoying. Do these always come with the pushlock? I guess thats to quickly lock them out from the bars? I'll keep an eye out on ebay! The fox ones look awsome but out of my price range
  25. Looking at upgrading the suspension forks on my Marin B17, came with Rock shox toras which are alrite, bit spongy for my linking and after about 15 mins riding they make a really strange clicking noise. Apparently this is a typical rock shox thing? I want something all round really, I use the bike to ride to work, in the woods, cross country and hopefully more singletrack next year. Also being able to adjust the travel would be awsome and lock out too. How do these look? bit pricey! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30250 Don't want to spend that much really but the need to last and be adjustable. Any other recommendations? Thanks
