This topic has gone from energy to drinks to full indepth advice and what a rider should really consume to keep going all day with full energy and minimal cramps. Quality, very intersting and helpful. I aint feeling drained of energy, and a energy drink is only a quick boost before you feel drained again, also cramp on the way home is a pain in the ass.

like this? I see, makes sense.

Tang? lol You've confused me again. Cool

Cheers. Would this be suitable? Ebay

I read somewhere that Rich had used Jon's. Yeah I re-threaded one before but only to a larger size, but sounds fairly simple. Might try the local garage, or give Jon a pm, though I wouldn't mind purchasing a kit, has it seems pretty handle to have about. Any idea where I might be able to get one from Luke? Also what is the sizing I need, as I've looked on ebay and found quite a few but they all mention sizes. Well my thread is only damaged at the top, the rest of it down to the bottom is screwing fine.

Thanks for all the advice guy's. Im gonna be using the phat works backings now, so hopefully wont need to use the tensile mounts. If I do then I'l file those tabs down and see how it works. Cheers Everyone

So like cutting lube? I assume its fairly simple/easy to do. I noticed that tarty can do this, but its the hassle of sending my frame up to them and back, it's £4.89 for them to do it, but then probably about another £20 in postage.

Hi I have no intention on this becoming a rant about Dan or trials-uk, I'm just in an important need to get hold of him. So if anyone speaks to him currently and/or regularly then please tell him to contact me. no: 07533356898 Or if someone is able to get hold of him on by half or pass me on his contact details. He's not answering his work mobile and has not responded to any e-mails. This is very important to me, to a point that if needs be, I'l go up to his shop and house to speak to him, so if someone can help me out it would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have had a look on the forum and various things about doing a helicoil, but i'm still clueless and not entirely sure if it will work with issue. My problem is on the non drive side 4 blot mount the bottom thread has been damaged. Recently when taking the bolt out it pulled some of the thread out of the top, the rest of the thread is fine, but I have had to run a longer bolt to be able bite whats left of the thread. Would a helicoil work on this and would it be recommended? Ifso, does anyone have a clue of what I need to do it and where to get it. Previous times when I worked for Halfords I just used a tap and die set and put a larger bolt in which sufficed. But I would like to try and keep it the same and not make it bigger.

The frame is narrow compared to most frames, but the bikes as standard come with a dx 32 rim with a magura hs33 and std 4 bolt mounts. If I stick with that rim I have no problem and the frame is fine, but as I want to run cnc backings and a white rim, I have had to go for the echo front to be able to run the cnc backings.

Cheers, I spoke to Mike earlier his backings are 6mm in thickness, which are simialr to plastic backings, so sounds good.
-
Thats what i was thinking, however my bolts wont go any tighter and the mounts are touching, so the only way to get them to tighten more would be to put a strip under the plastic ring. Though I'm going to get a set of Phatworks cnc backings which should allow me to use standard magura mounts, so hopefully my problem therefore cease.

Banana probably is your best option for energy, though if you are choosing drinks, then you gotta limit to like 1 bottle really. I tend to drink Lucozade sport, normally orange but any flavour will do, just because it tastes nice and it does give me energy but not as strong as like lucozade energy or relentless or what not. If I drink something thats fizzy and has taurine, like red bull, relentless, kick I can only have like 500ml max, otherwise if I drink too much later on in the day I start to feel funny, and can't fully focus on what I'm doing, almost like I'm drained on energy. Keep it simple, water, flavoured water, keep hydrated and you'll feel better than if your just drinking energy drinks.

Nice one Ali, pretty much sums up the whole aspect of being a sponsor and what they look for/want, and what a potential rider needs to do or be to earn the chance. But like you said Ali the main thing with our sport, is to go out and ride because you enjoy what you do and because you have fun, not because you want to be sponsored. Being sponsored is great but it is also alot of hard work. For myself I love riding for MAD and really appreciate all the help and support I have had from the team and it's sponsors, but as MAD is a demo team, it means that come the summer time I'm doing loads of demo's instead of going on rides. That's one sacrifice that I have to make, but as I enjoy riding it doesn't matter who I'm riding with or what I'm doing if I'm riding. Demo riding is alot of hard work, your riding on demand instead of at your own pace, so you have to be on top of your game. Similar to a when riding a comp, you may be tired but you have to keep going. As a demo rider your classed as entertainment, so you have to act professional at all times. You never know who maybe watching. The same if your a sponsored rider and ride comps or just go out and represent companies by using there product's, you always have to act in a mature, responsible and professional manner, because anything that isn't done in a good manner will most likely get back to your sponsors and they don't want someone like that representing them. You gotta remember your not just representing yourself, your representing yourself and everyone else that supports you.

They are heatsink backings. Looks like I'm gonna have to get hold of Mike, didn't relise that, I just assumed they were similar, and would be the same size. Handy to know. Cheers Adam
-
Hey Adam, they do have tabs, not very deep one's, bout 1/2mm. I'l give that ago. But that is all I need is to just be able to get the bolts to tighten just that bit more. Cheers Adam

Im running a Echo front double wall rim on the rear, I can run standard mounts with the magura, but then can only run plastic backings. Using the tensile mounts allows me to run the cnc backings which in my opinon feels so much nicer than plastic backings.
-
Everything is being used correctly, both mounts have 1 top and 1 bottom and have the two plastic clips in. I was thinking about trying to pack it out a tiny bit, so that the bolts could tighten a bit more, but even if that worked it's not something that should need to be done.

As mentioned in my other topic, I'm having problems with my rear magura. Unfortunately I have no choice but to use the Tensile offset mounts, as I love using cnc backing pads, and they wont fit if I use standard mounts. So, as a solution I want to change my magura for something different. I'm in a toss up between going for a rear disc or a rear v. I'm more inclined for a rear disc as I do the local comps, and at times it can be very messy, and so a disc would be benficial. My question is: Which brake would be better, a disc or a v-brake? If a disc, then which would be better? or if a v-brake, then what would be the best set up? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

I've been having problems with my Tensile offset mounts, just wandering if anyone else has had any problems with them? The problem I a having, is that when I tighten the clamp bolts up, the two mounts end up touching. This as I know shouldn't be a problem, but when I'm riding my brake cylinder will slowly move and start angling its way up. My brake pad will be set up so the pad hits the rim, when the brake cylinder moves the pad is then hitting the tyre. This is getting frustrating as I can't understand why it would this. I bought a brnad new set of Tensile mounts but they still do it, so I'm stumped. Anyone got any clues?

I really enjoyed that Andrew, you seem much better suited to the MBK than your Kamel. It looks like a nice ride and your riding it exceptionally well. We'll have to sort something out with Pat and get a ride on soon.

At home, but not asleep. I wont be coming tomorrow, would like to, but got plans and pretty skint till pay day.

Loved the vid Rich, enjoyed it more than your last, though that may well have been due to the song. Your taking to the Phase really well, and so you should, there great bikes. Hopefully see you at the comp Sunday, see you your comp riding fair's on the new bike

I now see why your after the mod Andy. On that basis I assume your gonna be entering.
