  1. Yep i ride motorcycle trials Im currently riding a 2006 Gas Gas 250 with lots of extra's. I ride alongside Trials_Batts and Trials_Dave. Motorcycle trials is sooo fun
  2. Oh another thing, what sort of money will i have to pay for a mini, i dont mind the engine size but the engine must be good and it must need quite little doing to it. i dont mind the odd spot of rust but the car musnt be rusted through anywhere or running rubbish or nackered subframes etc. so yeah how much for a half decent one please?

    Mini

Right, Some of you may think this is a waste at the moment but basically, im 15 and have a great understanding of trials pushbikes and motorbikes (i can completely strip down and rebuild both inc motors etc.) and want a nice car for when i pass my test. Basically i have a nice pushbike (Zoo Python 2006 with nice spec) and a nice motorbike (2006 Gas Gas 250cc with all the mod cons and extras) so want to start a car project if my dad lets me take part of the garage up. I am looking at nothing else but a mini at the moment as they are amazing cars to look at and amazing cars to work on etc. (as my brother used to do autograss in one). So i have a few questions. Apart from the body and subframes is there anything else that goes wrong on them? I have a fair understanding that the A Series motors are bullet proof. Another reason id like a mini is for the small reason that they look good and sound good standard rather than doing things to it, there easy to get a bike rack on as they have a roof gutter and the tax is free if i get a old enough one. So basically do you guys think this would be a good project for me to spend my money on and to learn about cars aswell as coming out with a road worthy car at the end of it for me to enjoy when im 17. A few more ups to it is that it will be fairly cheap insurence as there not the sort of car boy racers go for and there just little. Also how old does a car need to be to be tax exempt please? Im sure iv missed lots of questions out but ill add them as i think of more Thanks, John
  4. oooooooo, i thought that the anodised surface was much smoother than the bare metal. Ill just keep the anodised surface on in that case!! thanks for the help guys
  5. Right, I'm really wanting a 2006 rear black echo rim for my zoo. I have a few questions. 1:Do you think it will look ok with a 2005 cnc'd rim up front (remembering the cnc front rim is only 31mm ish wide) 2:I dont really want a grind but ovbiously dont want the anodising on my braking surface. How can i remove it off the sidewalls? wet&dry paper? Thanks, John
  6. I know that someone on a trials pushbike was but the lads that were telling me said they didnt even know what bike he was on Saying that they probably hadnt seen the frame he was riding before. im pretty sure it was vinco
  7. Yeah I have to agree with Trials_Dave. I use autosol on my pushbike and motorbike and it works a treat.
  8. I've had no problems with the hope braided hose on my Hope mono trials and it doesnt scratch my frame. I'd go to a car shop or something to buy the hosing. Id get a set of fixings for a hs33 and find out the dimensions of the hose to get some hosing.
  9. why yes dave i do believe you can run skewers. Next time your at mine ill give you some better bolts and washers. Mine are fine with what i am using.
  10. Well in my opinion you have 2 options. 1: use a front freewheel set up, (12t rear screw on cog, 18t freewheel up front) and get a 127.5mm bottom bracket. My suggestion would be the fsa platinum pro or similar 2: put a freewheel on the rear (either 16t or 18t) and have a 22t or 24t (22t for 16t freewheel 24t for 18t freewheel) and use the echo bb. I would DEFINATELY go for the front freewheel set up and a different bottom bracket
  11. Yeah i really like them. I cant decide wether to buy some though
  12. Like i say the echo 2006 bb is not made for front freewheel so an eno or a acs wouldnt go on without hitting the bb cups. Id reccomend steering clear of the new echo bb and sticking with front freewheel but that's just my opinion
  13. 1. will the freewheel still b at cranks (stupid i know as im pretty sure it will but just want to clear up) Can be at the cranks or at the rear, your choice. Im running mine on the front 2. how do the echo bb (isis) work as i heard they are hard to fit (diagrams appreciated) I am pretty sure that they are not front freewheel compatible. if you run a rear cassete hub or a freewheel on the rear it should be ok though. You also need a special tool to fit one, it can be seen 3.balance - really hard with only a ring and no plate or not as bad as you would expect? I find it not to bad. Just think to yourself people on stock bikes manage fine so why should mod be different? you may have to balance with your weight over to one side slightly but its not too bad. 4.will a wider bash ring help if so what are the widest you can get? I dont think a wider bash will help as it is still at one side. I would say that the only reason for a wider bash ring is if you keep landing heavy on your bash so you need the extra strength. 5.someone said the gu needs a long bb is the echo one long enough? As said above the echo one is not front freewheel compatible. id reccomend either a Echo 2005 square taper or for ISIS id reccomend the FSA PRO DH downhill one 6.am i more likely to dent the downtube as i have no bashplate? ie falling onto it or something? if so is it worth getting an armadillo? I found that when i got my python i was hitting my downtube a lot compared to my t-pro because a bash goes a little way up the downtube so id reccomend a armudillo. 7.will it half to be an echo bashring on the echo cranks? I dont think so, aslong as it is a screw on/slide on bash that is made for front freewheel cranks Damn i shouldnt have gone and made a brew half way through posting
  14. Hi, Before you say "use the calculator" i cant because i dont know the ERD so, Are the 2006 Echo mod rims the same ERD's as the 2005 ones (cnc'd) because im looking at buying some but dont want to replace my spokes because that would cost another £20. so basically would my spokes that are currently on a wheelset of 2005 echo hubs and rims be ok to use on 2006 echo rims with my current hubs? Thanks, John
  15. Hi, As my old phine decided to really screw up im in need of a new one. I have been looking around and found this. To me it seems like a good buy but, is it strong? is it money well spent? As for the spec basically is it good aswell? i know it hasnt got a camera on it but my old phone did and towards the end of its working life i never used the camera. So basically, what do you guys think of it?
  16. Hi Andrew, I hope you enjoy your stay as much as most of us on here are!!
  17. It is most likely that you have a new chain and worn cogs/sprockets/freewheel or what ever. This means that they are not meshing correctly therefore you should buy new cogs.
  18. 2006 Zoo Python frame Echo cnc'd rims on echo hubs echo easy forks front hope mono trial rear hs33 echo team stem onza carbon bars echo cranks kmc kool chain maxxis creepy crawlers I have no doubt forgotten some. I am going to get pics soon and will write up a full spec list
  19. Another question. Are these the sort of thing that hurts your arm so much that you decide that its not actually worth using or is it the sort of thing that is fun exersize? I mean like i dont enjoy sitting in a gym full of sweaty betty's lifting weights until you cant move your arms. So basically is it a fun excersize? (sp?)
  20. Hi, I have decided that i would like a power ball. I have a few questions though. 1: Is this a good choice? 2: Do they come with instructions etc. so i know how to use it IE. holding it properly etc.? 3: Does the link above seem to be a good price? 4: Are they as good as they sound and look? If they are as good as they seem to be so far im ordering one on Monday!! Thanks, John
  21. Hi, You will probably find this harsh noise is the sound of you 'rimming out'. Basically this means that when ever you land on anything your tyre is so soft that the rim is actually hitting the ground.
  22. OK Ill let you off this time hehe at least your sorted now
  23. Yep! i do I'm currently riding a 2006 Gas Gas 250cc Pro with all the Gas Gas youth team parts on. Im not in the youth team but my dad owns a trials shop up here and i ride for his company Motorbike trials is kick ass i love the pure thrill of blasting up a gully with a 6ft step infront of me knowing im going up it!! its so much fun
  24. I love my RB Design booster and wouldnt change it for any other type so id say go for one of these, super stiff, super strong and look damn good too
  25. Tarty Bikes sell four of their stickers for a pound or free when you send a stamped self addressed envelope and im sure if you contacted all the other bike companies they'd do pretty much the same
