    Graphics Cards

It depends exactly where the FPS drops. There's no way you'll get a constant FPS throughout the entire game, as invariably certain sections will require more oomph to recreate. Typically large outdoor sections are killers for FPS, particularly if it's not been coded well. Remember the more stuff going on in the game, the more of a pasting the graphics card is going to take, and hence the performance will drop. Admittedly, a drop from 75 to 30 is quite large, but I wouldn't naturally assume that there's anything wrong with your system as such.

    Stroy Puzzle Thingy

Right, I'll try and explain it in as plain a fashion as I can. Initially there are three doors to choose from, two of which are wrong, and one of which is right. Therefore there's a higher probability that you are going to pick a WRONG door (2/3 as opposed to 1/3). Now, having chosen, the presenter will reveal what's behind one of the other doors. Assuming you picked a wrong door initially, there's two doors left for him to open, one of which is right, the other is wrong. As the presenter KNOWS which door the right one is, he will open the one remaining WRONG door. This leaves the remaining door as the RIGHT one, which is different to the one you picked initially, meaning you should change your initial guess. As highlighted earlier, changing doesn't mean you will definitely get the right door, but your chances are increased over if you didn't change.
  3. You need ice-cream as mentioned above. You've just made cold banana water, which as you say isn't exactly very nice!
  4. Hmm, sounds to me like a less violent version of 'happy slapping', you know, the same one that everyone was outraged by a few weeks ago and couldn't believe people were doing. Seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me.....
  5. It was largely directed by Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Once Upon A Time In Mexica, etc). Frank Miller (the author of the comics) didn't do any directing as such, but was credited as a director at the request of Rodriguez, who felt that as the story and the whole world of Sin City was created by Miller, he should jointly be credited. The guest directing by Tarantino would have been small I imagine, and owed much to the fact that Rodriguez and Tarantino are good friends.
  6. If I remember rightly Goldwave was pretty decent sound software, and I think it's free to download as well.
  7. There's nothing magical or wonderful about it, it's just using some very basic psychology. Writing the names of the opposite sex in columns 3 and 7. It's natural that the first person you would think of in this case would be either your girl/boy friend, and even if you didn't put that, chances are it would be someone you fancy (ie. you're thinking about them a lot anyway) or you'd put down your mother. Either way, it's someone you love. Writing the names of friends/family in spaces 4,5 and 6. Again, there's a very high chance that the first person you'll think of in this case is either going to be brother/sister or your best mate. Likewise the other two names you think of are going to be either a family member or very close friends. It's natural that the first names that pop into your head are people that mean a lot to you. Therefore saying that these three people "know you best" and are "the one you care about most" is hardly surprising. And as far the third person being your lucky star, what the hell is that supposed to mean anyway? As for the song titles, that's just based on the fact that most people will assume some mainstream songs that invariably are about love, friendship or someone breaking your heart, hence they're clearly going to match with your girlfriend, brother and best mates that you wrote down earlier. I'm not saying it's not a cool little trick to try, just that there's hardly anything groundbreaking in the way it works it out, and given twenty minutes I could probably write something similar that would work for a large proportion of you.
  8. The university campus is one of the nicest in the country, and the student union is second to none. It's open basically every night of the week, and has something like 7 or 8 different bars. There's also a couple of clubs in town, and while they're nothing amazing they're decent enough if you get drunk :( The sports facilities as mentioned are amazing, but the problem is unless you're a member of one of the teams (which requires you to be bloody good at whatever it is!) you'll find it difficult to use the very best equipment. Having said that there's loads of football pitches, tennis courts, etc. and even the stuff set aside for the 'normal' student is high quality. As Josh mentioned, there's also a few gyms on campus that don't cost much to join, as well as a decent one in the local leisure centre which is also very cheap. Basically the atmosphere you get at Loughborough is pretty unique, owing to the fact that the majority of the population are students, which also gives the added bonus that there are very few chavs around. You could do a hell of a lot worse than come to Luf, I know I've never regretted choosing it. Reading back through that I sound like I'm a bloody salesman, but meh, never mind, I hope it's been helpful!

  11. True, but you are supposed to show discretion when you apply for a job with MI5, regardless of the type of field you're in. I believe you're meant to tell immediately family only, and anyone else who aks you're supposed to say you work for the civil service or something like that. The point being that, with the exception of the Director General the names and addresses of all other employees are meant to be secret so as to avoid any personal threats being directed at them. With regards to what I want to do with my life, it's a question I've been asking myself for the past two or three years! I'm in my fourth year of a five year engineering degree at the moment, but in reality the further I get through the course, the less inclined I feel to pursue it as a career. I have every intention of completing the course, and hopefully getting a first, but whether I use it to apply for engineering jobs I'm not so sure. The beauty of a engineering degree though is such that the majoirty of careers are still open to you, owing to it being held in such high regard by employers. I've been contemplating going into teaching, probably maths, but I'd only really be interested in college level or above. I have very little interest in teaching below that, as I don't want to teach kids who are only there because the law tells them they have to be. At least at college level the people there are doing it because they genuinely want to.

    Pap Paps!

I got myself a Mk3 Polo GT for my first car, and it's pretty much ideal for learning in and for the first couple of years after you've passed your test. Mechanically I've had pretty much no problems with it, other than routine maintenance that you'd expect to do on any car of a similar age. If you're getting a GT, then the performance is fairly reasonable, without being fast enough that you'll get yourself in trouble as you're only just learning. I wouldn't advise getting anything more powerful, as you'll face a hefty insurance bill as well as not really being experienced enough to handle the power. I can't comment on how well the standard coupe drives unfortunately. With a bit of money and some time you can get the mk3 coupes to look fairly decent. I spent a week or so a couple of years ago stripping the paint down and getting it all resprayed again, including body coloured spoiler, bumpers and mirrors, and it's amazing how much better it looks for it.

    What Car

That's the car I'm currently driving, a H reg Polo GT Coupe, and it just so happened to be my first car as well. It's got 110,000 on the clock, and I've not really had any major problems with it. Certainly nothing has been replaced that you wouldn't have had to change on any car of the same age. The only issue I have had is that it occasionally stalls when coming to a stop in very cold, damp weather when the engine hasn't warmed up, even with the clutch in. I'm pretty sure it's a faulty sensor somewhere, but they're quite expensive to replace so I just kind of live with it :turned: Performance wise it's pretty decent for a first car, and the GT version puts out around 50% more power than the standard coupe, although they're a bit harder to find. The one thing you might want to consider is the insurance. It's only a group 8, but for a first time driver you might be looking at some fairly steep quotes for the first year or two.

  15. All you people complaining about the usage cap should note that the reason you're using such huge amounts of bandwidth is because you're downloading illegal material! There's very little chance that you would exceed 15gb in one month by downloading legitimate files. It's not impossible, but I would guess that the vast majority of you are reaching such huge numbers by using Kazaa, DC++, Limewire, etc. Just remember, it isn't your right to download this stuff, it's a perk of not being able to police the internet and cut out the piracy effectively. Therefore if you were law abiding the limits imposed by the telecoms companies would have zero effect on you. I'm not trying to come across all high and mighty, because I've downloaded stuff myself in the past (although I do it very rarely these days, as I prefer to buy the music and films I want). Plus, even with a 15gb monthly limit, that's still 500mb per day as has already been stated. Taking regular browsing into account that still means you can grab one film every couple of days. Is there really that much stuff out there that you need to download more than this every single day? It just seems to me that people are complaining about something that they have very little right to moan about in reality.

    Fatness

It all boils down to not eating enough. I know that you may think you're eating loads, but the simple fact is, that if you're not putting weight on, you're not eating enough! As stated before, it's a simple energy balance of what goes in minus what goes out. The biggest hurdle you'll face is not wanting to get fat. I was only about 9 stone myself 14 months ago (I'm about 5'9") but I now weigh around 11.5 stone. This is down to making sure I eat enough food and high intensity weight training. You're scared to eat too much, because being naturally skinny you're afraid you might get fat. So long as you train hard, and eat the right sort of stuff (plenty protein!!!) you should be able to minimise the amount of fat you gain, and maximise the amount of muscle. It's inevitable that you'll gain some fat, but this won't be noticeable with all the new muscle you have ;) Plus you can always do a cutting phase later to trim off the excess. The best way to do it is to calculate your daily calorie needs, and then add an extra 300 on to enable weight gain. This needs constantly updating though, as your calorie needs will increase the heavier you get. If you're serious about bulking I suggest you trawl the internet for some guidance, or you can PM me (or maybe Alexx :)) and I can point you in the right direction. I'm afraid there's not a lot of alternative to the gym though if you want to bulk up with muscle as opposed to fat.
  17. Has anyone seen my shoe? was actually on the right lines, just needed a little expanding. The song is a play on words, with Du Hast (you have) and Du Hasst (you hate) pronounced the same. The song is meant to have a double meaning, and it's not until you hear some more of the lyrics that you can tell he's saying You Have. The song itself is a play on German wedding vows. Although I do have to award you the point, as in the English version of the album it's translated as You Hate, owing to the fact that we wouldn't have picked up on the double meaning of Hast/Hasst. Sorry for the slightly trick question, just wondered if there were any huge Rammstein fans amongst us (or German students :wink2: )
  18. Hendrix died 18/09/1970 in London. Q: In the Rammstein song "Du Hast", what are they singing about?
  19. Of all the quotes I've read on this post that I don't agree with, it's these that anger me the most. How you can possibly compare the problems that this country has with those of the third world amazes me. What's the worst we have to moan about - buses run late? The NHS isn't quite as amazing as you'd like it to be? Too many speed cameras? Do you not think these are incredibly trivial when compared to millions dying of starvation and disease, with infections like HIV showing no signs of coming under control and countless numbers not even having access to a clean water supply? I've been to many countries around the world, and I have to say that I haven't found a single one that I would like to live in as much as England. The NHS, for all its faults, is a fantastic service which many foreigners would love to have (and that includes places like America). Think about the quality of life that you have, and compare it to that of people living in the third world. There really is no comparison. And don't even get me started on the arguments stating that, as a nation we didn't get any help to advance to where we are now, so why should we help the third world? I didn't need any help to answer a sheet of questions I'm currently doing for exam preparation, does that mean that if someone asks me how to do a certain question I should refuse, simply on the grounds that I was able to figure it out, so should you? Of course it doesn't, we should all use what we know to help others. We're all living on the same planet, we could all just as easily have been born into an African family. I doubt you'd be so eager to encourage the Western world to "sort their own countries out first" then.
