So far I have not found a single program that does not work with X64. A lot of companies offer 64bit software now, many are supporting it in their next releases and it also makes better use of most recent CPUs that are 64bit. Any most 32bit programs work anyway, as I say I have not discovered any that do not.
  2. My friend has a similar problem with his Belkin router, its wireless N and has good range but literally 20m down the hall on the same floor his signal is pants, go to the bottom of the stairs below the router and its fine. If you have really thick walls in the house it can affect the signal or if there is a lot of internal wiring/piping.
  3. Ive been with NTL for 7 years now, if the torrents have good seeds I normally max my connection. I also get good constant speeds from direct downloads, ie from ftp sites or large commercial sites. I still have never had any problem with their fair usage policy.

You might have toupgrade some software purely so its compatible with Vista but its deffinately worth it. I am running the 64bit verison on this pc with a nice Q6600 Intel processors, runs beautifully. Not sure if its 32 or 64bit on the laptop but will find out soon. I would go with Intels CPUs at the moment they are superior to anything AMD have at the moment. EDIT: Cannot say about networking I have 1 pc in this house at the moment but it was nice and simple to connect it to the wireless router etc. The "most secure os ever", hmm, not as secure as it was in the Beta stages as companies such as Norton wanted better access to the kernal so Microsoft had to open it up a bit more. Deffinately better than XP though.

That laptop seems pretty good for £400. I personally would say go with Vista, I have recently switched from XP to Vista and its a lot nicer. Cannot do a direct comparison in terms of boot speeds etc as I upgraded whole pc. It has a lot of visual effects which you can turn off to save battery life on the laptop. It has some nice featurs such as saving searches (not sure why you would need to but you can if need be). Its pretty much just a refresh of XP, looks different with a few different features, nothing amazingly different. Only complaint being the hella anoying promts when you install anything, move anything, asks you to give it administrator approval then to actually confirm what you want it to do. Be nice to turn this off, I am suer there is a way. Happens when you are an administrator on the system too.
  6. I am a heavy user for most of the 24 hours in the day and they have never slowed me down, nor my friends. They have the "fair usage policy" but they never enforce it, check out all the cable forums no one has been cut off.
  7. I thought 3 bought out the 02 masts etc and now 02 pay/piggyback 3? Read it somewhere, think it might have been in the newspaper a few months back.
  8. I picked it up by checking the temperature sensor on my pc If he is not using it for gaming then there is not much point in getting an X1950, if he is using it for gaming, save up some more and get an 8800 or 2900 as a lot of games are GPU intensive these days.
  9. Try it anyway, might just be a driver problem which resolves itself when you unplug it and plug it back in, whether its wireless or not.
  10. Would probaboly need a stock bike as 6ft on a mod would be silly. You can only "see" 2-3 obstacles, trust me there will be many more you are just not used to looking for them yet, it comes in time, you will spot lines etc. Possibly save up a bit more to get a solid starter bike like an Onza T-Rex or something similar.
  11. You have to watch out for the grave period to clear it though, as Tomm said, HSBC do not give you that year to clear it now, which is why I have gone with Natwest.
  12. Depends what he is using it for. If its for media intensive applications such as decoding video etc then it is better, I have one as I use it for this. For gaming the x1950 is better. I would not say the 2600xt runs hotter than an x1950. From what I recall the x1950s run at like 70c+, the 2600 runs at 40c or so.
  13. You have to go into the branch or something and sort it out.
  14. I have opened a Natwest account purely for their overdraft and railcard. In your first year they give you £1200 INTEREST FREE overdraft, and this then goes to £1400 in second year and £1600 in third, this is WAY more than most banks, if not all banks. They also give you a year AFTER you finish your degree to clear the overdraft BEFORE they start to charge you interest. Have a good look around as you might find one that suits you better, but Natwest offer a very good deal.

If you find something better than this for the same price I will be impressed. Acer Aspire Core 2 Duo T2350 1.86ghz : Arguably the best processors around, check all the sites Core 2 Duo/Quad are the processors to have, desktop or laptop. 160 GB hard drive: Massive storage for a laptop, probaboly more than you will need. 2GB Ram : Double the memory of any laptop near this price, and its fast at DDR667 (quick for a laptop) Other good features, Vista Home Premium, Wireless Ready, 7300 with turbocache, so if your not gaming no need to use masses of video memory. I ordered this yesterday, absolutly amazing deal, I defy you to find better. Only downside is that is has 24bit colour support rather than the normal 32bit, but I really doubt you will notice that.
  16. People may shoot me down for this but whatever. NTL/Virgin Media, I think, are the best broadband company IF you are a heavy internet user. I have used well into the 120gb area of bandwidth in a month before without them even blinking and eyelid, where as my friend on BT went over his 2gb limit and instantly got charged for it and a phone call. NTL really do have an "unlimited usage" policy, they do not mind howmuch you use it "so long as you do not affect other users in your area". With companies such as BT, Sky etc all running on BT landlines, they generally have a "fair usage policy" which is normally 1gb a day max transfer, now if you do a lot of downloading and uploading/playing online games, this will get used VERY rapidly. Always check the usage allowance etc as you will be suprised how much you use.
  17. Is it wireless?? If so, I know this will sound weird but, take outt the batteries, leave for 20 secs, unplug the reciever from your pc, change the USB port it is plugged into, put the batteries back in, press the connect button (if you have one) and it should work. This happened to mine, I have a Logitech LX710, not sure if its related to this keyboard or all logitechs, it has happened under Vista X64 and XP SP2.
  18. I have to say I have had a great experience with 3, converted many of my friends over to their network too. All of them have said they will not go back to anything else. They offer fantastic deals, better than any other network, great phones, their 3g service is fab and their reception is second to none, there is no where I have been where I have no reception. Customer support is also very good. The 3g does not drain the battery its the phones, my phone the Sony K610i has very poor battery life as it is, not network related. Others have far better such as the K810i or whatever it is.
  19. Im going to buck the trend and say 2600xt as its newer hardware, supports DX10 along with numerous benefits of the updated video decoding. Anyway what are you planning on using it for exactly?
  20. I have found when this happened on my levers its always been the thread on the tpa has been destroyed. Tape it all apart and give it a good clean, see if anything is wrong.
  21. That seems too big to keep with a tuck that big and the rear wheel not toally on. Impressive none the less.
  22. May have to buy some anal ones then just to see how fast they need to go
  23. We discovered from this very scientific test that going 50mph was far too slow, 60mph was not a lot better. At 70 you start to get some lift into it, then at 80mph bang on it expands, everytime at 80, we did it more than once lol. The condoms used were Magnums if anyone wants to try a different brand see how they fare
  24. Hey, me and a friend decided to see just how fast you need to drive in a car, with a candom being held out the window for it to expand. For those that have not done this, its funny as hell. Enjoy the video, no speed limits were broken in the making on this video. Condom Test Wish we had been able to get the camera to see the end of it, I think it was a good 3ft long.
  25. Are we going to be allowed to claim points on the orders we have already placed, seeing as I imagine you will have an order history, or will it start only on orders from when the system is implimented?
