  1. you can shave, but just not the moustache
  2. I have been riding for nearly 16 years and it's aways been about the fun. I used to enjoy comps and the challenge they gave, now I enjoy going a little faster and riding in a different way. The change from comps to street is pretty big. The enjoyment of being good didn't really come into action because my street riding wasn't great when I first swapped, so if I only rode because I enjoyed being good I would have shot myself in the foot and never changed in the first place. The same thing happened when I went brakeless, I was really crap for a few weeks, but I enjoyed it more than ever. I think the conclusion is I enjoy the challenges riding puts forwards and overcoming them is a great feeling. I have plenty more I want to learn so I can see me enjoying it for a while longer.
  3. haha, say that to my mum, she's had enough of Yorkshire folk and is one of the main reasons she's moving to Scotland
  4. Funny thing is, I am appalling at arguing. After how this thread has turned out and people have shown their true colours, I think there was plenty of need to post what I did.
  5. I would love to ride there, looks epic! Loving the camera work too, so smooth Riding style is....how shall we say.....not as refined as one would expect. There, that's not too negative

    2012 Inspired Range

you seem to be a special case regarding snapping parts. I think the steerer tube is exactly the same, only difference is the legs and dropouts.
  7. I swear by Shimano SP5 cable, I got the smoothest feeling with that cable. I did have the spring tension pretty low, the lever didn't "snap" back to position like a Magura, but this is part of the reason for me liking vee's, I find the spring tension on Maguras too much and get bad arm pump when riding comps.

    What A Legend!

right, compliment sandwich...... I like the scenery. That video was awful. I liked the weather. Ok, enough of being a smart-arse, If he want's to spin like a mad top then he can and to be fair, when it comes to rear wheel spins he is pretty good. I just didn't really understand any of it, most of the shots he had a camelback on, how hard it is to take it off when you're doing something? would look better without it. The music was a bit "dramatic" for my liking. (edit, second song is actually good ) A lot of the moves were repeated (and should have been killed off in the 90s). his style is very "erratic" not really my style, he just seemed to be bouncing about a bit wildly most of the time. So yeah, not really my cup of tea, but he seems to enjoy it, so that's fine.
  9. I actually think the opposite, a vee can be much easier and smoother to pull than even a water bled maggie.
  10. Yay, an argument I didn't have a hand in starting! (well, I know someone will probably point out my name was used in a post and that will be counted, but still)
  11. very nice Ben, good style, big moves, minimal effort. A+ would watch again.
  12. maybe he didn't want to ride a butt ugly frame
  13. sorry, I meant that the axle could be too long for the frame and stick past slightly which the bolts hit before tightening fully.

    Inspired @ Hope!

the Hope factory is actually the best factory I have ever seen! The attention to detail in EVERYTHING (ie, carpets, doors down to the actual products) is simply amazing. I loved watching the machines at work, the laser etching was pretty incredible. The new Inspired skye is sweet too!
  15. I bet the bolts were bottoming out on the axle before clamping the frame tight
  16. Don't agree about that geo being referred to as "comp geo". Some people ride comps really well with that geo for sure, but a lot of riders also like to ride comp on other geo too. There is no set frame geo for comp riding.
  17. that was sweet Dunc! Thatsidehop onto the rail and ride down looked scary as hell! I lived the vid as a whole, it had good flow, the song was cool and your riding was dialled.
  18. measure the wheelbase as normal, then turn the bars 180 and measure the wheelbase again. If the rake is the correct 40mm then the wheelbase should be 80mm shorter
  19. I was really impressed with him, he really does have some good skills, seems really confident too. I can't wait to see more riding from him soon
  20. sounds like a plan would be cool to catch up again.
