  1. Danny Mac's vid tops it for me!
  2. not a fan on the geo (I would have gone shorter backend, higher bb and steeper headangle to give a snappier ride) but the shape of the frame is spot on! Perfect dimensions and tubing diameter, colour is pretty cool too.

    Going 24"

not yet, just built up a hex with a front freewheel and grippy tyres for natural riding though.
  4. it's down to the side you drive on the road, in the uk to perform a right hand turn you are to put out your right arm to indicate your move, you are then riding with only the left hand on the bike and the rear brake is the least likely to make you fall off if applied in an emergency. I am pretty sure we drive on the LEFT hand side because of knights jousting in ye olde times, they would hold the joust with their right arms as they were usually right handed.

doing street on a long high TGS style bike looks a bit....random. Props for doing more than your typical trialsy moves, but the style wasn't quite to my taste and some of the locations didn't work for me (doing tricks on the flat) and it didn't really have much flow. I have high hopes for him in the future though!

    Ali C's Hex Video

cheers for the replies guys. Milo123, I only have the one bike, I still love brakeless, but I am also enjoying having brakes on too, plus I need them for demos and such.

I can think of worse things...drinking, drugs, acting up, all of which appear in many bmx videos and I don't see anyone bitching about setting bad examples. People have a lifestyle they want to live, and they often get shown on videos and usually they are the most interesting to watch (Sean Burns section from Anthem 2 for example, f**king amazing!)

In what way am I resting on my laurels? That would suggest I don't actually do anything anymore when infact I have done more this last year in terms of riding, videos, giving advice, helping out companies than I have done in the past 14 years. I have obviously pissed you off with my rather tame view that people can choose to wear helmets or not, and that's fine. If you want to be pissed off go ahead, but don't start puking up stupid comments about things you don't even know about. (sorry to keep arguing, I don't want to, but I will defend myself and I don't have a computer at my new house hence the late replies)

ok, so by me saying Chris is allowed to wear a helmet or not suddenly makes me a cock and giving a bad example to the sport? I guess the years of supporting clubs, giving out advice (either at work or out riding) being polite to anyone who has talked to me about the sport, not riding on shit I deemed disrespectful, not being loud and obnoxious, and in general trying to be as thoughtful as possible to most people doesn't count? I have also been sponsored pretty much non stop since 2003 with Tartybikes being my longest term sponsor, I try to be as polite as possible, but as I said before, I will comment on things that I think negatively about, get over it.

I think it's a very strange decision that you cant respect someone who is out there doing his own thing, obviously having fun and making a living at the same time just because he didn't wear a helmet? As someone else mentioned, he doesn't have brakes! he doesn't have reflectors, a bell or anything, that's dangerous is it not? They are legal requirements for bikes to be sold and ridden, helmets are not. I do agree that helmets should be worn and I tell kids at demos to do so, Chris is not a kid, he can wear whatever he likes (and personally, I think the flatcap suits his image as a yorkshireman).
  12. I wouldn't class myself as a great example of someone who can tell if a frame is stiff or not. I have had one flexy frame (the Global) and you could feel that flex side to side when pedaling. Ever since that frame I have never though "oh wow, this frame is stiff!" or "oh wow this frame is flexy", they have all done the job and I havn't noticed if they are flexy or not. I have ridden other peoples bikes that are famous for being stiff (koxx boxx) and yes, the rear brake was possible the stiffest I have felt without a booster, but it didnt "feel" any different when riding, the same goes for flexy frames such as the Kot MS2, that "felt" normal to me too. I will agree that stiffer is better, even if I cant feel it I understand the benifits from having a stiff frame over a flexy one. Talking about steel or ti having a good "feel" and stuff only really works for xc frames from talking to people, the longer tubes makes all the difference, you don't hear bmx riders going on about the "feel" of steel.

I call into question exactly which one is more negative here? Anyway, read my post.

"threat –noun 1. a declaration of an intention or determination to inflict punishment, injury, etc., in retaliation for, or conditionally upon, some action or course; menace: He confessed under the threat of imprisonment. 2. an indication or warning of probable trouble: The threat of a storm was in the air. " The thing is, I am infact not very negative at all. I would class myself as a very happy person. My posts on here are both positive AND negative, why only ever stuff that people agree with? The whole point of this place is it's a discussion board to discuss what you think about things. If everyone only ever came on and agreed with everything going on then A) I would suspect they were not being themselves, and B ) this place would be a lot more boring. I propse that you are infact the negative person and only see the things you want to see. I am not the hugest fan of TGS riding, but I used to dabble in it a bit myself and I am quite happy to post positive comments on videos I like (as I have done on most of your vids).

    A Rig?

The Clan use alloy scaffolding with Marine grade ply for the riding surface. They are pretty easy to work with, but expect to spend a few thousand for anything decent in size.
  18. if you like 1100mm wheelbases then yes they are awesome, I was always more of a 1080mm person myself
  19. a dirst jump frame will have a lower bb and longer chainstays, this will make it a complete pig for rear wheel moves and anything involving spins.
  20. Is today opposite day or something? If it is, then I agree with what you just said.
  21. no it isn't compatible, it's a disc lever and will have too small a master piston
  22. I don't crash (plus I wasn't there)
  23. that was cool, those were some pretty funny crashes!
