He's not the first to have the slipping problem. My mounts too are now ruined as they would not work and under the advice of Tarty I tightened them as much as was required to stop them slipping thus bending them. Although technically they now work, I'm considering sending them back and going with the Echo set. I too think the design may be a bit off. Most clamps work by allowing the top and bottom parts of the clamps to touch and then this acts like a pivot point to ensure that as you tighten the bolt it increases the clamping force rather than just bending the mount near the cylinder. Photos to follow...

That's the end of that then I guess lol

Has Anyone Been Using Sram Xx Carbon Mag Discbrakes?
Shaun H replied to Birre's topic in Trials Chat
Floating rotors with an aluminium alloy spider don't handle trials use very well, that will be where a fair bit of weight is saved too. -
See you on the train in Leam dickhead...

Where'd you get those grips... the... toilet store? a child's scooter?

Second that shit.

Should answer your question, and any possible variation of it haha

Someone come explore Leamington Spa's Ford foundry with me!? I'm not massively into the whole photography thing I just want to have a good look around, whoever comes can take care of photos!

Yeah I had an Omnia with Windows before this. My missus got her iPhone a few days before I got my Hero so I've had the benefit of playing with them both and although I will admit the iPhone probably is a slightly better phone overall (in that it's a bit more "polished") I can't believe the amount of money you have to pay to get it compared to other phones. She got hers on friends and family discount off her brother so she's paying the same /month I am but for a crapper contract

I'd agree in all honesty, but the Hero (and most other android phones) does everything the iPhone can, a few things better, a few things worse. The real deal breaker for me is the cost of the iPhone due to it's "exclusive" (everyone's got one now though!) and fashionable status compared to the real value of android phones. Android will come on in leaps and bounds due to it's open source nature too, something the iPhone might not be able to match. I also enjoy not paying through the nose for apps or having to use iTunes or having shit battery life or having a brick in my pocket

Loving the minimalist dropouts and the welds are particularly smart looking. Is the chainstay yoke two U sections welded together making a hollow structure? Think I've seen it on Koxx frames before but looks more obvious on this.

You're absolutely right the primary purpose of research is enhanced properties however reduced densities are desirable particularly in aerospace materials. Of course, you won't get an alloy 50% lighter than the pure element, however, the density of an alloy can't be calculated by simply adding the densities of each element in their respective proportions. Adding different constituents changes the microstructure and therefore influences the alloy's density.

A TF community? I'd be up for joining that, means we can organise "events" and that. Where can we find it? EDIT: OK I've started a group but I can't find your Steam ID for love nor money Dougie. Found Krisboats and one other guy with a quick search of "trials" but noone else yet. Get posting your Steam IDs and I'll invite you all.

I think you're underestimating the variation in alloy density Dave. If alloys were that close to elemental density much of the research into new alloys wouldn't be as useful. In my personal experience (research for materials to use in new projects) Al alloys can have more than 20% variation in densities and I imagine the same is true of other alloys. Magnesium alloy (which is largely Al by volume btw) is already used in pedals (the very popular Welgo MG-1s for example). There have been a few frames that were made from the alloy but in my opinion they've all been made far too light when the material could have just been substituted for a Al alloy on existing designs to give lighter frames at similar strengths/life cycles. Now Mg alloys have a bad reputation in trials for life expectancy.

How much would you be after James?

Got myself an HTC Hero for my upgrade on Orange last week. Really happy with it so far, only thing I think it can't match up to on my gf's iPhone is the response on the typing although the guy in Phones4u told me there's an update that fixes this. Certainly no regrets considering how much money I nearly spent to get a 3GS So how many others are there here with an Android phone? Favourite apps etc?

For that puuuurrrrrrrfect bleed, don't forget to tap the caliper/lever lightly with a spanner as well as tapping the hose to release those last tiny bubbles.

To be fair to Tartybikes though, I imagine they've got a lot of satisfied CK service customers for Reece's problematic one. After all Adam Read pretty much pioneered the whole servicing with Finishline wet lube etc (or at least popularised it with that service video). EDIT: I personally own a King and I used to service it roughly every 3-4 months. Got lazy in the past 2 years though but it hasn't really been a problem. Probably needs to be cleaned out soon though, it just gets a bit dirty in there, not gritty or anything, just... mucky?

This is the reason "uneducated" (I just mean people who aren't engineers and materials scientists etc) people end up with so many misconceptions. There's a lot more to it than you think!!! Most people just see the strength and weight of a material and go off that. Plus sometimes they pick up one of the characteristic properties of a material, like the brittle failure mode of CFRP and then whenever the use of carbon fibre comes up loads of people start blurting out "oh you can't use that it's brittle and just snaps" Materials is a very complex subject (that's why you can do an entire degree pretty much dedicated to them) that requires an understanding of all the different properties of materials and how they affect the performance of a particular function and/or design.

Yeah ask Reece (pogo) how that went for him

It's still running. Dan is on holiday atm so obviously he has put up the notice so people know T-UK is closed for the moment.
