You serious? Does that apply for Reading as well? Kinda sums up what I mean about alot of people not being their cos for the music and stuff any more though
-
Well yeah i'm just using the uk bmx/mtb scenes as an example cos they're what I know. Sorry i kinda said that confusingly, alot of the big names obviously still struggled alot and it was generally blogged in the mountainbike world that they were 'shit' (read: 'hard') jumps. But again I'm just using the people I know (one of whom rides with the DMR team alot) to emphasise that point. Obviously not, but that doesn't make up for riding them day in day out, and they'll also often ride other mtb trails due to knowing people they're etc and that generally being the scene they work in. Also, the ammount of trails builders that hate having mtbers travel to their trails due to how much they f**k them up is another story Yes, but due to the bigger bike it's hard to look as in control of the bike and put the bike exactly where you want rather than kinda 'dead sailoring', and again it's less learnt as bigger wheels mean landings are never as harsh. It is possible, but it's not ideal, that's my point Almost every mtber i know also runs reaallly soft tyres in some sort of effort to get over the fact that they took they're sus off. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it's like people doing bmx tricks on a fixie. Sure, have fun, keep doing it, I really don't mind and like says it's positive whatever they're riding, but don't try and argue that it's more ideal Haz: We're not fighting, merely debating Mike: Of course, you'll enjoy whatever, but we're discussing choosing the best bike. Besides, arguing is fun.

Yer, I think i might hit Benicassim in Barcelona next year instead. Or just save the money and do Inno in the Dam.

Out of interest, what examples of UK BMX trails would you give? They said they were shit because they were the kind of trails you can't just ride at and go over, as far as i'm concerned Well we are talking about some of the best mtbers in the uk, aka the ones you keep talking about? Hence why they're obviously not gonna be as good at bmx trails, cos they don't dig and ride them Therefore, they won't get the control we're talking about that you can develop from more techy, steeper and harder (yes, i said it ) bmx trails. On another note, trails is the one discipline of bmx/mtb etc where you can ride exactly what YOU want. Go build your own thing and let the moaners build their own trails. Fair enough. Yes it is possible, but were talking about what's better. It's possible to run the 100 metres with no feet, but it's hardly the best solution. Also, I'm using that for an example not just for park, but to show how different jumps are very different on different bikes so mtbs will struggle more with bmx trails. He's obviously a sick rider, but if the best example of style on a mtb has that many manuals down qp landings and pedals between ramps, not to mention the plethora of overshoots, overspins etc. I'm concerned haha. Oh, and those top side one footed wallrides are a prime example of what's gay about the mtb scene

A prime example I just remembered, NASS 2008. Ian Gunner and other bmxers built the dirt jumps, and they were reaaalllyy good, if a little dusty with the weather etc. However, every mtber i've spoken to who rode them (including dmr team etc), just constantly slated them saying they were shit, and a few people I know who rode (not big names but good mtb riders none the less) barely got through them due to the seeming inability to navigate a pump roller before the last jump. So no, what you're saying isn't quite accurate. The majority of mtb trails i've seen/ridden have been just straight line, trick jumps and most of the mtb riders I know don't seem to have much control when it comes to something a bit more techy. Also, if mtbers could ride steeper, bigger, more techy lines, then why don't they bloody build them? The fact is that the 'varied' mtb trails rider your describing rarely exists because they build and ride mtb trails rather than more bmx styled ones. Also, it's not simply about rider ability. A bike with a bigger wheelbase is going to be effected very differently by a steep take off/quarter pipe/whatever and everything will feel even more kicky and sudden. If you take a very small but kicky landing built by a bmxer, a mtbers back wheel may not even be onto the bottom of the take off before he hits the lip due to the longer wheelbase. There's a new tight little vert wall we recently got put in at Watford skatepark which mtbers complain about because they can't ride it for shit due to the curve being too sudden and steep for their bikes Also, when you say that bmxers are superiour in terms of tricks because of more versatality (grinds etc) you're also missing the fact that bmx is also alot further ahead in the kind of tricks that mtbs are capable of and mtbers often do, air tricks over trails and such.

Ditto haha. I had mine from a baby, handled it every day and like Tom said it loved me, but still just wanted to sit on my shoulder and do nothing (which was pretty cool haha). I ended up selling mine for a massive profit though to a dealer (who is a really renowned lizard shop owner and will look after him really well) to keep as his personal breeding one I was never in the position to stick out the 12 years with uni and all so that was a perfect solution.

I'm pretty sure the general rule of UE is to leave EVERYTHING in exactly the same state as you found it. Then again, being a graffiti artist I don't give that much of a shit.

BMXs strraight up look better, all my mates who ride 24" will tell you that. The ammount of tricks possible on them is also alot more, this as far as i'm concerned is FACT. Alot of people say they ride mtb cos bmx's are too small, or hurt their backs which is fair enough. But Marks right in that these people are often judging on bmx's that don't fit them and don't realise how much difference an extra inch in top tube length and bar height can actually make to the feel of a bike. Milford's right in that different trails ride better on different bikes depending on if mtb or bmx riders built them, but mtb trails are also generally alot less techy and not as fast or flowy due to more mellow landings. Also, if you take into account the top UK mtb trails, and then the top UK BMX trails and the riders on them, you'll realise that the bmx trails scene is pretty much superio: bigger jumps, more tech lines, and riders going higher, smoother and throwing in more tricks.

As usual, Reading was awesome this year. But to be honest I think it's lost it's buzz a fair bit. The riots are nowhere near as good now, neither is the campsite banter, and the crowd are pretty shit (take Kings of Leon for instance). I'm not sure why it is, but I think it's just because it's become the cool thing to do amongst all the people my age that would never have come a few years ago, and they just don't understand the whole get loose and don't give a shit what you look like attitude and point of it, due to growing up in under 16s club nights and getting limos to party's haha. I think it's also partly to do with the fact that there was no metal headliner this year, and all the metallers usually bring some spice to it. As it was, it was full of little indie kids and stuff. Security were also ALOT tighter. Not as nutty as the old scottish blokes but alot more picky and the kinda black guys who didn't need to get in your face for you to respect that they could throw down if it came to it. Ahh well, still an awesome time, lots of good mates, lots of funny shit and lots of good bands. Weather was pretty awesome too all things considered! Sitting down on chairs out of the central Radiohead crowd but bang in the middle and a perfect sound ball distance from the second two speakers smoking a few jibs is probably one of the most incredible experiences of my life. They were immense. Do people agree with me about the changes? How was Leeds in that respect?

Your design work is really awesome, looks clean and proffessional. The website however, is good, but I can't help but think that's all it is. It's a very typical 'design portfolio' website, very similairly layed out and styled in a clean way with similair colour schemes. I find the field of graphic design to be all a bit boring at the minute for that exact reason, alot of stuff looks the same, posters featuring Helvetica aligned to the right and held up with bulldog clips etc. If I were someone looking to hire you i'd want your website to be a bit more daring and stand out from the rest. Although your design work speaks for itself, there are alot of amazing designers aboutt so anything you can do to set yourself apart from the crowd is worth it if you ask me. But yeah, like I say you're work is awesome so don't take this as a dig or anything, just my 2p Good luck to you.

Easy now. Pretty much finished on my new photography/art portfolio/blog. Still need to do some photo ordering and implement the blog page, but other than that i'm pretty happy with it Anyone got any good tutorials for building a wordpress blog into that page? www.maxjquinn.com Let me know what you think. Peace.

Yer bang on. But they never search bags at reading and the stewards don't tend to give a shit so whatever.

Yer but you can't take drugs, glass bottles, spraypaint etc etc etc and it's hardly a biggie to take them in haha. Doesn't really effect anything. I unknowingly pissed on a fire that had a gas canister in last year. It blew up mid piss so i reacted by swinging round to get away from it and pissing all over the lap of the girl whod asked me to pisso n it who was sitting behind me on a deckchair Karma.

I've always wanted to get what i write (graffiti wise) in a nice handstyle kinda at the bottom of my back, just above belt line. Mainly cos it means alot to me. Thing is though, that would probably count as kinda incriminating evidence if i'm ever in that position
-
Yer you're probably right. Looking at it now it cant've been a cover, but i just remember seeing it fairly big somewhere and it sticking out kinda thing. The closest i've got haha
-
I remember that picture. Was a Ride cover wasn't it? Or at least ran pretty big somewhere?

Just got back. AAAC Well stoked on that, but probably should have actually put in some work in maths an bumped that shit up haha. To the lashboat!
