  1. I'm not at the top, as I'm folding BIG projects - there's a little check-box in the Options, which says something about downloading/'sending files bigger than 5Mb. This means the amount of "Work Units" I do is less :S
  2. If it's the Region, then check out a program called "DVD Region Free" - it emulates the DVD player as whichever region you want....
  3. You can't really *mod* Laptops - as there is very little you can do to them. To build one yourself would be *much* harder than you think..... so that rules that one out. If you are going for graphic/video design, then I would get a Mac. Although they have a lower clockspeed, as delusional said, they work in different ways to x86 machines. And considering they are virtually the industry standard, I would say this was a good reason to choose one - it must be good if so many people have one? OSX is based on FreeBSD, so the memory management is superb. FreeBSD was designed for servers, so it is a very efficient and stable OS. XP will suck up your resources like there's no tomorrow..... The IBM thinkpad is a good example of a notebook designed for portability - I love the little docking station you can buy, to expand the ports (on the older models anyway, don't know about modern ones). They are quite rugged - and just do the job. Would you rather a slower x86 which was rugged or a fancy fast one which would break at the first sign of abuse? :: Phaze ::
  4. Well its not LEGAL if you BORROW it! Check www.crackspider.net, or MSN me (I've got a whole handful of them....)
  5. This is a REAL headf!ck.... http://gprime.net/images/trippy/ Makes you look at your pint/fag and think "What was in *that*" :: Phaze ::
  6. Check this -> http://gprime.net/images/sidewalkchalkguy/ How amazing is this 3D art?
  7. LMAO (Y)) Gotta love Director/Flash cartoons :P)
  8. *cough* www.crackspider.net *cough* (No more "trial-periods.....")
  9. I've discovered there's a console version - designed for people who game! It doesn't pop up every 3 minutes - just sits there, and uses the free resources....

    Gorillaz

That is a f!cking AWESOME website!!!!
  11. The black-box he's talking about is a router/modem combination - then a wire goes from the router switch -> hub.
  12. Doh! That's the quote I should have included...... sorry!

"Pint for MonsterJ please, barman" (Y)
  14. "Pint for Mr SoutTrails.tk please, barman" ========================== Back to the WMP problem.... Check the folder in the Start Menu - called "Startup" - and see if Windows Media Player has a link in there. You might have "drag-and-dropped" it by mistake into that folder (when using the start menu). If it's there - delete it.. Internet problem.... To start with, I shall say that you should have a LAN connection - even if the net doesn't work. This is probably a misconfiguration of Network Card (by accident, or virus...) or the Router has Reset itself (and put everything back to default settings....) Couple of questions, so I can picture what's going on.... 1. I assume that the "black-box" is a combined router/hub/modem? 2. What's the make/model of this - reading the manual can save many headaches..... 3. When you say "it's got cables coming out" - does this go from "black-box" (Y) to the wall, or to the PC? 4. Is there a working Wireless connection? :: Phaze :: Oh, just got your PM too :P) Good timing!
  15. MSN = Microsoft Network (NOT A PRODUCT!!!!) Use YOUR noggin :P And both IE and Mozilla adhere to the HTML specifications developed by the W3C
  16. Day Of Defeat, or Battlefield 1942 (I think) are good ones. Quake 3 rocks, as does Unreal Tournament 2003/4
  17. I heard that was lost a while ago *cough*....... (Y) (You just walked into that one!)
  18. Have a look on the net for Linux codecs - I'll be shocked if someone hasn't reverse engineered the codecs.....and released an open-source version! If you see it, PM/MSN/post here again, and then send me (or another Linux user....) the file to convert :P) Yes, I'm sure FireFox does open for you - when you click a link in a Window or something. But the pop-up which comes from the task bar has "iexplore.exe" embedded in it :P( i.e. "http://www.hotmail.com" would open FireFox (as it is the default for HTML pages) - BUT "iexplore.exe; http://www.hotmail.com" would open Internet Explorer, *then* go to Hotmail.com. See?

200Hz for a refresh rate @ 1280??? No, sorry, not possible! Even if you chose 200Hz, the computer would automatically reset the values if it can't cope..... to stop you blowing up your monitor..
  20. Or save yourself £50 for phone bills, and let us try and help you here (Y)) Trust me, the people at the other end of the phones dont have a clue about computers - they are reading off a screen..... You'll have more luck here, with Azureus, Corish, Me and a few others on the case :P)
  21. Unless you've got a dual-cpu system lying around...... Ive seen in some of the PC hobbyist Forums (Mostly Overclockers) that some people have 8-CPU Servers folding for them...... that's 8 instances of Folding@Home going at the same time.... ======================= And for the problem of trying to run it with NFSU2, make a simple batch file which closes Folding@Home, then opens up the game for you :P) Then all you need to do is double-click one file :P)
  22. ^^^^^^^^^^ Who says the £20 note is real? =================== Some student from Bournemouth sold her virginity - to pay for her Tuition Fees! She hit the headlines of the tabloids - regarding the excessive fees required for Uni...... Some Japanses Businessman bid like £18K or something if I remember correctly...
  23. But sadly, the Yankies are so dumb, they'll believe every word of it.... And as for the addiction....*cough* B!LLOCKS *cough*.... there has never been any proven link between addiction and green........ apart from one case of psychological (When the guy smoked 40 spliffs a day or something!)

    Msn Messenger

Why has everyone posted the same information? Yes the links are different, but they essentially contain the same information about how to cure the problem!! If JoShO had just clicked on the link that dave85 posted, he would have realised that someone else had the same problem - and someone (me...) posted a link to the solution!
