  1. Flights booked for California over Easter
  2. So excluding riding this around the decking a couple of times I've barely touched the Hex. Keen to get out on it a bit this year, so sorting out a few bits I'm not so keen on to try and motivate me to use the thing. New rear rim and front spokes inbound at present, so I've stripped down the existing wheels and cleaned up the hubs ready to rebuild. Nips were a little different to any I've seen before. Had the same square profile above the flange of the nipple as below. Not that you can get a spoke key in there on a double walled rim anyway. Whoever had built these wheels up had used a lot of nasty red (permanent) threadlock. Can't say I'm a fan of that idea, and certainly won't be doing the same this week when building up the new rims. Also, turns out the previous owner had actually been running 16:16/16:14, but with a narrow 14t sprocket so I'll throw on a chainring and an extra spacer to put that right. 20:16 should do the trick, or maybe 19:16 for hoppier stuff - minor difference. Probably just go with whatever I can find cheap so if anyone's got a spare screw on 19 or 20t sprocket let me know!
  3. Impressive stuff. Somewhat offset by all the rubber wrapped around them mind Realistically I'm not going to ride the bike enough to warrant any further thought, just need to get it rolling nicely and enjoy the three rides before it gets sold I guess!
  4. Lulz. <American Voiceover Guy> Previously, in this thread... </American Voiceover Guy> ...we were talking about DMR DV rims. Just happened to pass mine in the garage, so I grabbed it and made a note of its vital statistics. In the interest of sharing information, they look something like this: For a 26", 32h rim Outer width: 32mm Bead width: 30mm Weight: 796 f**king grams ERD: 533mm This is a tad disappointing, as I was going to throw it on the back of my Hex and leave the narrower Mavic up front, however my rear wheel is 36h. Not a massive issue, I could stick this one up front and get a matching 36h for the rear, but good lord that's a lot of weight. Could always drill them, but that's effort. For comparison purposes, the Inspired Team wheels are listed on TartyBikes as being 650g (both walls are drilled), the Trialtech Carthy rear rim is listed as 577g despite being undrilled and 48mm wide, and the Spank Spike Race 33s are listed on CRC as being 480g (which I'm not convinced by). Sorry for the minor thread derail, but seemed the most relevant place to waffle on about it for now
  5. It's not the being sensible that's the problem, it's the being skint
  6. Beauty! I miss the days I could justify (or at least pretend to) buying shiny new parts. Building up pimp ass bikes is as fun as riding them
  7. Turns out playing Smells Like Teen Spirit in a major key makes it a complete pop-punk teen summer anthem
  8. Eat a proper meal, you won't get worn out so quickly.
  9. Do you understand simple English discussion? It doesn't come across that way. You sporadically come to TF spouting your various theories and practices, and when we try to engage you in discussion you become increasingly incoherent and don't actually back anything up with logical statements or information. Honestly, it does interest me to see how you are apparently living, yet you refuse to put it across which leads to us all taking you less seriously (if that were possible). You can't have it both ways.
  10. I would, if you ever posted anything worth reading.
  11. Oh man, I wish I had that but the Lizardpeople stole it
  12. Speak for yourself. Exactly, disastrous on many counts, reinforcing my point. Even more impressive if you survive on fungus alone, I look forward to the pictures. And rainwater can go some way to external crop, but that's rarely enough to keep someone sufficiently sustained, regardless of appetite. Moving back to the water source for other uses, I'm still intrigued. Perhaps instead of avoiding all the questions you don't want to answer you could help us all understand where you're coming from?
  13. I'm intrigued, perhaps you could post a photo of your setup? Even the most efficient systems don't regenerate that fast, so you must be onto something pretty decent that we could all benefit from. Even more so if you make enough through the winter to store until the next season, since I assume you don't hibernate/stop eating. Distilling/RO plants aren't the quickest processes - with only a handful of clothes do you struggle to produce enough to wash them regularly? That's on top of washing yourself, staying hydrated, irrigation for your growing food etc too, very impressive! I'm not so sure about the "You become aware, you expose" though - obviously I've been brainwashed by the military in the past but a little ill-informed knowledge can be a very dangerous thing; even more so than no information.
  14. I'm impressed - either you eat very little or you must have a pretty substantial farm setup. Kudos. No clothes for years is an interesting one - did you have an extensive wardrobe prior or have you become a nudist? Once people are aware of what's going on, what's the next step? Of course governments keep certain things secret. Although it'd be nice to live in a society where all information was accessible to everyone, it'd lead to some pretty massive risks. Especially since most terrorist acts (that's another rabbit hole, probably best served in another thread if you want to explore so feel free to make one) are from non-state actors these days which makes it exponentially more difficult to protect against. The trouble is everyone has a different view on what information should/shouldn't be kept restricted.
  15. For all your ranting, Dave, and I know it's with the best intentions to open the eyes of the sheeple, you're still living within the same system as us unenlightened plebs, right? I mean you're on the internet with the rest of us; I assume (though am happy to be corrected) that you buy the majority of food/drink you consume from someone else; Clothes the same; Electricity? Other than telling people there's more to it than they're aware of, what is it you aim to achieve by suggesting Illuminati/NWO/etc?
  16. There's the strangest Echo in here...
  17. I don't need it, so don't feel bad if you do! If it's surplus to requirements for both of you and the right drilling (need to check this, as I've forgotten what my Hex has, think it's 36h from memory) then it could tick the boxes though. Would like a pair ideally
  18. Not going to be a snakey b*****d but if he doesn't, I might...
  19. Just picked up a set of adapters for very little dollah, so should be able to at least trial fit the wheels (well, A wheel since they're negative tyres at present) and get an idea of how they sit. If I'm not a fan they should be easy enough to sell on and I've got them cheap enough that I shouldn't lose much on them if it does come to that
