  1. Tics got the same 4chan amp, and newer one of my subs. Don't bother amping up the rears craig, amp up the fronts! Fair on the suspension i suppose. Big update from me comign up, just uploading piccys.
  2. If only i could afford the porper spray job! I have £3 left in my overdraught, started selling bits off the mini lol! (the standard bits i don't need anyway). Look out for 2nd hand suspension craig, don't buy lowered springs new, its a rip. If your going to buy new susp get coilys. I say go for the ICE and keep your eye out for suspension. Might even sell you mine (40mm lowered on uprated dampers) if i have enough student loan to get coilys next month.
  3. Same goes to you! i got £340.60
  4. Right, update time again. Has been gogin a bit slow, but had to do more repair work. after grinding back rust on arches, some of it was pretty grim. Will be doign some scrapyard rading and a trip to GSF tomorrow (hopefully there open) to get the last things i need, then it will be full steam ahead. Right, most of the prep work is now done. all smoothing work complete, both audi handles are in, and the shape at eh back is pretty much there. I need to find some stopper, final sand all filler, prep the rest of the paint and then mask. Heres some piccys! Slight rust under qauter lights Bugger! At least i got it out though, nasty ness underneath Test fit new tail gate Panel gaps look much nicer! Audi handle number 2 bugger! Those arches are a nice water trap. never fear, novice welder to the rescue! Vw and prime cost cutting, make a LHD car RHD, but leave the LHD wiper mount there, even on the motor braket! Ah, thats better! trimed wiper motor braket, smoothed scuttle and flushed wing mount ariel hole. dont forget the dewipered boot! Prep coming along nicely. Smooth!
  5. If it fits in my diary, il be there. Was ace last year.
  6. May try and get there, depends on funds and progress with car. Currently my car is in pieces, and so is the windscreen- DOH! and i have £3 left in my over draught Basically, i would love to be there, but theres a high probability i wont be.
  7. Your not alone with broken glass craig! I was doing so well, got my quater windows outon my own no trouble, then had a good look the the windscreen. a bit of rust down the LHD wiper mount, plus i would like to smooth it. Seal is the same as all the other fixed windows, so thought sod it, lets do this properly and set about removing the screen too. Corner looked just about to pop out when - Crack - bummer! need new screen now, oh well, give me an excuse to get top tint. my old one was very sratched and glary too.
  8. Lots of activity from me, even went back to the workshop after dinner and didnt come home again till 1 AM!!! Inside of bumpers lookgin a bit scabby, so wire brushed them and gave them a coat of hammerite. Filler work on the frotn wing, had a coupel of dents. Lots of progress to the rear panel: Took all my arch trims off, fair bit of rust underneath, as expected. Will jsut brush them down and hamerite, will be covered up again to no point wasting time makign them perfect. Got bored of sanding, so got my Audi handles and central locking out. Should fit nicely in there! Bite the bullet, attackign perfectly good door with a grinder! Scary! Trimed and fabricated Audi plate Fits quite nice: Weldings not the best, but for my first attempt of car body work its not too shabby i don't think. After the first skim of filler: One VERY happy Oli!!! From behind: Then, after dinner went and installed some more sound deadening. Scraping off overspray wax/underseal First layer inside the door, bit fiddly. Around the exaust tunnel And the rear seat base Well, thats it so far. Don't know how much il be able to do tomorrow, got to go shopping with grandparents for a bit.
  9. Il do you a deal on my front small bumper if thats what you need! Cant remember if your on big or smalls.

Didnt expect that footage to be in a vid so quick, good work andy. I see where all these comments are coming from, but hey so what if it is all the same stuff? surely its just liek watching a vid filled with taps and hops and nothing else. Its a pretty well edited vid, and enjoyable, so what if its not "trials"? There not exactly riding long low and silver steeds now!
  11. New front bumper, yay! Free mini engine as a passenger. Oh dear, shouldnt have done that! Straightened out the back some more today, am quite pleased. Before work: After work: With some filler: Not lookgin too bad now BIG improvement! Rear bumper test fit: And some more

POINTLESS! you can slap yoursefl with a wet trout for such blasphemy!
  13. Haha! unlucky craig. I have no money, so can't buy your cars im afraid! I see you looking Tic, what you think?
  14. Ok, Car is now all stripped inside. Everything out minus dash and wheel! Ive had to chuck a fair bit of factory sound deadeneing from the footwells, was so wet it was starting to rot. Leak turned our to be a blocked drain hole in scuttle, with a load of crap built up behind it. Water built up and dripped through bonnet release cable grommit, down onto back of fusebox !!!!! , and into footwell! Old greyness Saturated sound deadening Had to be careful, alsmost tempted to make the car a stripped out mean machine! But no, that look will be saved for the mini. This needs to be a nice daily driver. Typical britain, Rain stopped play for a little while, so had to fiddle in the wokshop. put another coat of paint on boot plinth, and sprayed my rear cards. Look much better, but could prob do with another coat. When it dryed up a bit, i set to work with the first of the sound deadening, the stick on stuff. Roller in hand off we went! In the crevices By the time i finished i had 2 layers in the wheel well, 1 on the boot floor, 1 on the arches, 2 on the inside of quater panels, and 1 on the inside of the rear panel. Also got the expanding foam out to fill cavities in the new tailgate, and filled the gap between the two skins behind the rear windows in the quater panels. Im not letting any of my base escape! The knock test shows a noticeable difference in the panels already, cant wait to get 2 layers in the boot with spectrum paint on top! Ive used half my stick-on stuff, and need to do the front doors 2 layers, and the floor one layer. hopefully will have enough! Need to get the car drivable again in the morning, going for a park session with some mates from back home, and picking up my front big-bumper from bournemouth. Chuck 2 seats in (pickign someone up) bolt on window winders and away we go lol! should be fun.

    Today

Mini thread, VW thread, Car pic Thread, GF pic thread - thats at least 4 decent threads there lol!
  16. Yep. be careful if your just guestemating though, dont want to end up with an ill fitting clamp.
  17. can't comment im afraid, havent had any personal experience. on my golf it would be ok if i kept filament spots, they would still flash. I wasnt aware flashing was a legal requirement anyway, my golf doesnt have a facility for it, you have to quickly put full beam on then off. or hold the stalk so the switch doesnt quite click in, but light up full.
  18. In that case youd have no full beam, you can't fit two bulbs in a a single H4 light! My H4 bulbs have 2 filaments, on for dip, one for full. you can get HID kits that do that, a twin bulb in one unit with 4 ballasts. Some cars run two seperate bulbs for dipped and full though.
  19. Ok, this weekend just gone has been spent tinkering with the mini on saturday (see mini thread), and tidying my workshop on sunday ready for the work happening this weekend. Its quite scary how much stuff, tools and parts, i have accumulated in a year since i gained my workshop. Workshop last year: Workshop on saturday: Tidied workshop: hmm stereo! Tasty goodies to note: Rear big bumper £5! Strut braces All the little bits and bobs are on the shelves and on various boxes. new subframe, wishbones, crossmember have only just arrived so not pictured, new brake set up is in the back of my car. Will be updating frequently from this weekend onwards as project gets underway. Will hopefully be going home tomoorow night, car parked up and stripped be end of thurday. Once stripped assess what needs doing rust wise. While filler is drying, start on sound deadening and vice versa. Aim to have car sound deadened and painted by wednesday/thurday. obviously weather could play a big part in this. Then its time to fit central locking kit, and make new boot build. Refit interior/fit new interior. fit new front subframe ect. depending on time, paint and fit or just refit exterior trim. New wheels may be a wek or two late, as im tempted to refurb them while tyres are off as one has some big scratches.
  20. yeah, golds are sintered. to those saying organic is crap, ive been running all my disks on std organic pads with no real problems.
  21. There white LEDs, but my H4 bulbs are VERY blue (makes them whiter when on), so if you look head on onto the lights when on sides they look blue ish, i think thats why they failed.
  22. I run 80/130w main H4 bulbs, that 80w dipped, 130w main beam, also have 2 spots that run 55w each on full beam. somehoe managed to get though MOT too, even with blue bulbs, my LED sidelights failed though. Custom relayed wiring loom and fuses so it doesnt melt the existing loom, much much brighter than std, and cheaper than a HID kit. a Dual HID kit for H4, so you get dip and full is £150+
  23. any rotor will do craig, make sure the depth of it is right for the pad though. Fred runs sintered pads on his little mini, and it gives awsome bite. performance drops off badly in the wet though. Some people recomend EBC reds, but i thought as these were for DH they were more suited to modulation, dragging and dealing with heat, not bite. the opposite of sintered, which get hot easily. Std organic should be fairly reasnoble, and a good compromise.
