  1. Grinding can in certain cases invalidate the warranty. It depends how well it is done and the reason behind any fault which occurs. It will not however affect the half price replacement scheme.
  2. We have now designed a new extended arm which will take up to a 19 tooth. Now all you have to do is convince me that it will sell. Also do I do further consolidation to two sizes to cover the whole range or add this as a third one.
  3. Don't forget that ceramic bearings and titanium oxide races means the bearings run smoother for longer. You can have a headset for 3 or 4 years but its performance goes down over a period of time although it may still be perfectly useable.
  4. Moore Large are our UK distributor and will carry everything. We always introduce new product ourselves but once established responsibility for ordering will pass to them. If you find that Moore Large are not stocking any parts that you think they should, please feel free to pester them. Please also bear in mind that they are relatively new to the trials market and it is a harsh learning curve. Please bear in mind that drilling through your hogs invalidates your warranty.

  6. I think the sudden force applied on the application of a disc brake on a fast downhill section, with a 17 stone rider might be little greater.
  7. I'm afraid the problem doesn't go away by changing to a freehub, whether Profile or anything else. Go and lift the average mountain bike or road bike back wheel off the ground, spin the back wheel without turning the pedals and watch the cassette roll up and down.
  8. The problem is probably down to maintaining concentricity between the internal thread of the freewheel body, its bearing surface, the bearings, the bearing surface of the ratchet ring and the machining of the teeth. Only slight variance of any of these factors is enough to cause the problem. With a generic product like this we have often found it difficult to stay on top of quality control as you have not had any real input into the manufacturing process. The Tensile on the other hand is entirely ours and we lay down its tolerances. We also make sure that both inner and outer rings are machined concentrically. This is not to say that it will always run concentrically as that is also down to the concentricity of your crank thread to bottom bracket axle to bottom bracket cups and bearings. Thats a lot of scope for variance.
  9. The closer your jockey wheel to the sprocket the more efficiently it runs. Also the longer the arm, the more susceptible it is to damage so we have set out to produce two lengths, for a 14 and under and a 17 and under. If there is a demand for an even longer one, it is simple enough to add it to the range.
  10. Just a few responses to some of the questions raised. 1. The tensioner is designed to run a 3/32"chain (as KMC810 Kool) and as set up would not take a 1/8" chain. However, the only limiting factor is the spacing either side of the jockey wheels and the fixing bolts are long enough to accept some extra spacing washers. It should therefore be possible to modify it to take a 710. 2. How will it handle knocks and bumps? We have designed and built it using the best materials available to us to maintain a competitive price. We therefore feel it will stand up to as much as any other such device on the current market. However, nothing is indestructible and trials is a very abusive pastime, so this has the usual Tensile warranty. As far as fitting guards, where do you stop? Guards to guard the guards to guard the guards. 3. With the huge variations in frame design, the one safe universal datum point to fit such a device is the derailleur hanger. I don't quite follow the logic of trying to fit it anywhere else. 4. The length of the arm is optimised to use a 14 tooth sprocket and the first delivery is as such. There is also longer arm version for use on a 16 tooth which will follow up. 5. We have many products in the pipeline for Tensile but as always, they will be well thought out and tested thoroughly before release. Currently under development are a new fork, a new rim and a single speed converter to go with the chain tensioner. We also have a rear hub design being patented at the moment before any proto's are made and a patented pedal under development. Plenty of work to keep us busy.
  11. You may be interested in the new Tensile chain tensioner. Available to buy in about three weeks after a years development and testing. Picture should be up on news section next week.
  12. That was a photograph of the sample. Worked very effectively. You can only do this process by such CNC machining. The most effective format and profiles would need a lot of trial and error. You cannot Knurl a rim surface. Knurling is effectively an embossing process and requires back support for the surface being knurled other than on a totally solid profile. The only possible way to knurl would be onto the flat sheet before the rim is profiled and as only steel rims are produced in this way and most rim profiles these days are extruded alloy, that also doesn't work.
  13. We made samples and tested them about 4 years ago. Abandoned it on the grounds of cost. A very expensive process.
  14. I just realised you are in Australia. Don't bother sending it back here. Speak to David at Trials Hive. I have asked him to give you a replacement FOC.
  15. As someone else said, if it wasn't the new type designed to take a splined bash, the bash would leave too little thread and you will strip them. Half price policy still operates.
  16. The lockrings are threadlocked in place in the factory so if you strip and re assemble you SHOULD use loctite or similar threadlock.
  17. My congratulations go to Andrei, highest placed British rider and to Scott for a great performance against some tough competition. Also congratulations to all the British riders for such a great effort in flying the flag for the UK.
  18. Most parts are available separately on Tensiles but within a month or so ALL parts will be available separately. Remaining major parts are being produced at the moment and will be shipped as soon as we can economically do so.
