  1. Furthermore the Tensile headset does come with a Lifetime warranty to the original purchaser subject to terms and conditions, the same as the King headset.
  2. Just to put the record straight Chris Kings are currently £84.99 at Chain Reaction and £100.79 at Wiggle. You can currently buy them illegally from the States by avoiding duty and Vat for about £68 due to the very favourable exchange rate at the moment. We can do nothing to compete against that unfortunately as the legal price with duty and VAT would be about £84. When the exchange rate falls as well they will creep back up again.
  3. Just to answer a few quotes and queries. In our long experience of headset selling on things like King , Cane Creek FSA etc. we find that we sell 10 black to one of virtually any other colour. With a limited first production it therefore made sense to only do them in black anodising. Depending on demand we may add other colours later. To do flat colours like white requires powder coating which we generally find to be not a good finish on headsets so it is unlikely that we will produce one. It also leads to further problems on laser etching or screen printing logo's.
  4. Unfortunately we don't just pluck prices out of thin air, they are based on product costings. If you want to spend £45 on a headset there are plenty available but you will not get what you get in a Tensile.
  5. Tensile produces as the name says "optimum" products. Every Tensile product has total input from ourselves and is never a "badge" engineered or off the shelf component. When we set about producing the headset we looked at every aspect of it and produced the best available specification. We already produce (and have done since 2001) our Onza Mongo 3 (also marketed as DDG Roulette)sealed headset which is great value at £24.95. Industrial sealed bearings, alloy cups and extremely reliable. Other companies also market this headset under their own brand names. I know everybody will not want to pay a higher price for the Tensile but a significant number of people are prepared to pay for top end quality. The RRP is £65 and I know you can buy a Chris King from the USA at not much more. The RRP of the Chris King is however considerably higher and you only buy it at lower prices by avoiding duty and VAT. We can sell a Tensile to an American much cheaper than £65. Unfortunately we have to work within whatever Tax regime operates in the UK and that is the price we are suggesting. (no guarantee of course that dealers will stick to it). We still feel that it offers very good value for money and using the Chris King as a benchmark we have tried to make constructive improvements.
  6. I would just like to mention at this point that we are now supplying Tensile as original equipment to 2 French bicycle manufacturers.
  7. There is a new T-Mag. Very similar to the old one with introduction of some colour. I will post a picture of pre production prototype next week. Available April. We will only do one model, with Tensile cranks, freewheel and mag clamps, alloy 0/S bars and stem. The new 20 " Limey and another new 20" frame are also in development
  8. The EU Registered design is for use on a freewheel. Nothing to do with bottom brackets.
  9. The 20 spline BB tool type removal system is a Tensile owned EU Registered Design. We have already stopped other major companies using it in Europe. The actual importer will be the one who takes the risk in this case.
  10. The chain tensioner is actually made by a company in Taiwan called Mr Control, whose products I am sure we all have come across in the past. The owner is a great friend of mine and we collaborate on many projects. The tensioner is no major breakthrough being similar to many others on the market. We have been involved in testing it for a couple of years and it was sensible to use it for our own range. I did not claim to have invented it and it is available to anyones branding. I am sure the remarks were just a typical kneejerk comment from an Onza basher and is "water off a ducks back" these days. I do take great exception however to the suggestion that we would ever feel the need to copy a Gusset product.
  11. This frame is the latest incarnation of a two year development programme involving several prototypes, an initial Production frame and now this second Production frame. Some of the comments on here leave me breathless. Do you seriously think on a project like this with close co operation from some of the UKs top World Class riders that we would just bang in a few random plates here and there. Every aspect of the frame has been studied seriously and modifications made accordingly and with good reason. The programme will continue and I am sure this will not be the last incarnation. I must admit, we have not seriously considered rear disc mounts yet but I am sure they will come under the spotlight eventually. The colour is far from bland although not shown in its best light on the pictures. I think it is one of the best colours we have ever produced. Finally the name Limey refers to its English heritage (American slang for an Englishman). Hence the Union Jack in the graphics. It has nothing to do with Citrus fruits or colours.
  12. Magura hold in excess of 300 patents, many of them concerning hydraulic rim brakes. We have a project under development for over a year now but not ready yet to reveal any details. Suffice it to say that these brakes appear to be a straight rip off of Maguras, which any of us could have done, so I hope that he has checked very carefully Magura's patents, otherwise he could be in deep trouble.
  13. The Onza carbon fibre is discontinued but we now have the new Tensile one available, much stiffer and considerably cheaper.
  14. Just 3 things. 1 We are clearing these on ebay for £59.95 2 It clearly states lightweight competition frame NOT for street trials. 3 When you made this large dent on your down tube where do you think the forces went of your feet bearing down on the pedals.
  15. I beg to differ with the previous poster but the T-Comp comes with a Tensile freewheel. The only way it can get an ACS is if the shop switches them to make some extra profits. The ACS is made in India and can only be shipped to Taiwan through the USA, which is the reason we decided to upgrade both T-Pro and T-Comp to Tensile. The alternative was to pay all the extra transport shipping and duty costs to fit ACS which would have bumped up the costs and been a logistical nightmare or downgrade to a DICTA, not an option.
  16. The 07 T-Comp has a Tensile freewheel but the new Onza cranks.
  17. The Zona Zenith frame you mentioned was clearly described as a prototype, had a different colour and no decals. He paid less than half price for it and after an exhaustive investigation ebay/paypal found completely in our favour. Like I said in my posting, peoples expectations can be too high sometimes when buying goods on ebay. New, standard range items sold without any other proviso's should be as new. Anything second hand or described as prototype, experimental item or design concept can be expected to have been built and messed about with. That is why they are cheaper than standard new items. If he had wanted a brand new Zona Zenith frame they are on our website for £299 , not the £132 he paid for his.
  18. There is a big difference between lack of description and falsified description. The only thing stated is that it is "used", which it quite clearly is. No other claims, apart from a list of parts, are made for the bike. Therefore I don't think you have a leg to stand on. Paying £390 for a £1000+ bike, particularly a trials bike, would seem likely to be a recipe for receiving a pretty hammered bike. Are peoples expectations of what they are buying too high?
  19. Read my post on similar thread in NMC. For your info T-Mags and above will continue with Hogs.
  20. The new T-Vee, T-Bird,T-Pro and T-Comp are just the first models of the new 2007 range. The new T-Mag will be available about March 2007 and the T-Master not long after. The new Limey 2 frame should be available in small numbers before Xmas and the whole new 26" range is due for launch in April /May. This is not laziness but cautious development. We don't pick our bikes off the shelf here but design and test them. A second sample Dual is due next week and we will also have stock of the new Tensile Offset Magura mounts and Tensile Brake Boosters on Tuesday. Samples also of the Onza Vee brake converter (standard equ. on the new T-Pro). First production sample in a couple of weeks of the new Tensile Ace headset. Our benchmark to improve on for this was the Chris King headset so expect a top quality item. (As always with Tensile). Tensile freewheels also back in stock next week after their phenominal worldwide success, (sales now topped 3000).We are also planning the drop stay frame as a new modified Street frame for next year so we are being anything but lazy here.
  21. The T- Pro does have 4 bolt mounts with our own V brake adaptors which will also be out as seperate parts shortly. Incidentally the T-Comp has Tensile offset Magura mounts as well. I would take issue with the mention of a "cheap disc" on the T-Bird. We tested many cable disc brakes before selecting the Onza branded one as used on the T-Bird. It works very well and has a patented mechanism which moves in both pads simultaneously. Even Avids only move one pad and rely on deflecting the disc.
  22. The new T-Comp has drilled rims ,theT-Pro doesn't. The frames are the same. The new range was developed against a background of rocketing prices of raw materials and components and the new T-Pro is an attempt to bring a real competition standard trials bike to beginners. We have tried to put value in where it counts, (like Tensile freewheels on both T-Pro and T-Comp). I am sure there will be detractors but we are trying to maintain a range of 20" trials bikes that is both strong and affordable, using a real involvement in trials to help us to maintain our edge. No company in the world does that which is why we dominate in that market. Others either operate only in the mid to top end or produce badly designed off the shelf cheap one offs which do nothing to further the development of the trials market. The new range will be available very shortly so please allow it to arrive before jumping to conclusions.
  23. Oh yes they are, pawls, bearings and shims all available ex stock, cheap as chips.
  24. I am afraid "Luke" is making comments on here which are just a product of his fertile imagination. We have no problems with Magura and remain committed to their brakes. We are still one of their biggest UK customers.
  25. Do not compare the price to the old T-Pro but to the new T-Comp. It is very difficult to maintain prices when the cost of labour and particularly raw materials is rocketing. We wanted to keep the T-Pro at an affordable price so the Maguras had to go. Don't forget that both on the T-Pro and T-Comp a Tensile free wheel is standard so thats a £25 upgrade.
