  1. Does anyone else have issues removing maxxis tyres from hog rims? I did battle ages ago to put the tyre on, breaking a few tyre levers in the process! Now i need to remove the tyre to re-grind my rim and cant move it!! Whats the secret? Damned if i know!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. The only thing swaying me towards the hope over the juicy is the warranty as i hop to my left. Thanks for the input guys
  3. I know there is and i didnt want to start another thread on them but they usually revolved around best value for money etc. Ive considered all the options like the avids, maggies but hope still seem to be that bit in front of the others.
  4. Ive read loads of the threads on front discs and every thread is slightly different in the advice given! Basically, im after a front disc. Im tempted by the hope mono trial. Whats others opinion? The cost isn't an issue and it being hydraulic wont cause set-up problems for me. Is the Hope as good as it gets for trials discs? I want something that will happily pitch me over the bars whilst still allowing me the control to roll out on the front wheel using the brake!
  5. Use a small drill bit, 2mm or 3mm. Drill through the centre of the bolt then undo using pliers, mole grips or similar. Should work
  6. I learnt it using two pallets spaced apart. Im struggling with going up to front at the mo. Had a few over the bars moments lol
  7. I run a maxxis high roller on the rear. Ive been too tight to buy a front recently so have an old tioga on the front!
  8. Pitbulls are a great bike, very strong too!!
  9. Hammer setting on drills is for drilling concrete or stone! And yes it will still spin! Square holes look sweet!
  10. Poss the most pointless post
  11. Im working my way through various pads at the mo. Ive tried the zoo's - these were good untill i got a fresh grind. They then died v fast! Currently got plazzies on. However, my grind is going, the pads are worn and although they lock well with the wheel moving forwards, if the wheel is rolling back, they are starting to slip. Next up is either the koxx pads or the heatsinks
  12. Im swapping to disk from maggie. Cant get both the power and modulation from the maggie.
  13. You sound like you are in the same boat i was a few months back Hadnt ridden for a good five years, i came on here, downloaded a few vids, i think zoo vid 29 was the 1st i saw , and couldnt believe the changes to the sport. I used to ride a heavy tools trials frame which i never got rid of. Ive now got a zoo pitbull and lots of shiny new bits
  14. There is no correct technique. Its what ever works for you. I couldnt side hop for shiz from two wheels static on the ground but practised side hopping from back wheel and am much better. It seems if you want to go ultra big, back wheel hopping is the best method
  15. Do you ride with gloves? I use quite hard grips and gloves. I cant suggest anything to stop the wear on your grips. To stop the grips sliding i make sure the bar is clean then put them on with a little hairspray as it acts like a glue once dry
  16. Theres some very exact measurments!!! Ive been doing side hops for around 3 months and can do 5 pallets easily, can scrape up 6 sometimes
  17. The brakes have evolved with the riding. I remember when the koolstop maggie pads were the best you could get! The more extreme the riding has got, the better the pads/brakes/setup have got. I learnt to ride trials using v-brakes on mavic ceramic rims
  18. Im guna sound old now! Way back in the beginning, me n a mate rode xc and did a few jumps down the local skatepark. Anyways, i bought a copy of mbuk and in it were a very young looking ashton and hawyes in dayglow riding kit doing side hops. That got my interest and not long after that dirt video was released and had scott dommet hopping around on a few rocks and doing a little back hopping etc. At this point we were still doing xc but thought we would try a few of these moves we had seen. The next mbuk video came out, "getta grip" and had a bit more trials on it and mbuk was giving more column inches over to it. Then, chainspotting was released and thats when we really started to concentrate on trials. We rode alot for the next few years but sorta lost interest as it wasnt anywhere near as popular as it is now. Anyway, 5 years on and im back
  19. Does anyone know how i would go about converting wma files on my pc into mp3 or similar so i can use them on my mobile? Is there some software i can d/l or something i haven't realized i can do within windows xp? Help appreciated
  20. The english riding style is very much all about power moves and how big you can go at the moment. many video's and alot of good street riders pushes everyone to try that little harder. I personally think the french riders are up there with the best we can offer.
  21. Weather depending i might do. Not been on a decent ride with others from here yet.
  22. Getting a decent back brake is partly down to the setup and partly, how well you set it up. The pads ideally need to hit the rim square on at the same time on both sides. This teamed up with either a spot of tar and a soft pad like the zoo or a grind and a pad like the plazzies or koxx browns will see you with a good brake
  23. I use a maxxis 2.5-2.7 tube. Try and find a tube thats aimmed at tyres wider than yours. That way the tube wont be under so much stress
  24. I appear to be in the minority on here! Work full time for a garden pot company. Moneys ok, hours are easy, i take home as many pallets as i want and i get the use of the van evenings and weekends which is handy!
