    Mini

Ahhh old cars. I used to have a 1972 MGB GT, with a B Series engine (they popped that into the minis on the Italian Job). Body work and rust is the killer for any old car. I believe 1978 is the cut off date for Historical vehicle classification. Mechanically you can put a mini back together dead easy. Its a piece of p*ss to work on cos its so basic. I wouldn't worry at all about the mechanics of a car, but really worry about rust and corrosion, there are just so many support groups for Mini's its just not worth worrying about. As for the engines. just listen to the noise, see if there is any signs of the push rod/cam lifters wearing. Take the tappet cover off and have a look see. Oh and a proper test drive will show up probs with a gear box and transmission. By the same rational Mini's are dead common, and you see loads of young lads rag the sh*t out of them cos they think its a proper car and it pulls well up to 40. I'd go for something a little different, but thats just me.
  2. Hell, I wouldn't worry about petite things like "ejecting" the device. I have thousands of USB devices, including a Russian made, limited production, USB mattress. If I was you (Stranger things have happened) I'd check the drivers for the USB software, then ensure that your MOBO is playing ball, and has all the USB options enables in Bios. It sounds like a crazy driver issue. Worth checking proper tech forums than a trials forum )
  3. So we're all in agreement then? Its Futurama, because the Simpsons is dated and family guy is good... oh its very good, but stewie and brian... hell even peter griffen, ain't no god damn Bender, are they? Now all of you, even you at the back pretending... no, hoping that the drunkard hasn't seen you, go watch some Futurama.

So What did you do then? Photoshop plugin? Or did you hardcore it and trace the thing with a tablet. Either way, its a good effect. You should be pleased
  5. I've always thought Ryan Leech's frame and forks looked a bit dated. But It goes to show what a good rider can do, and kinda shows up the people who complain about 1 year old tech. I like Ryan Leech, and that vid is no exception.... good job
  6. Worst thing my bike ever did too me? Well the worst injuries were caused by concrete and brick. I suppose the worst thing was when my bike tried to rob me of the chance of fathering children when i'm older. No one like bashing "One of the boys" on your frame.... Ow....
  7. What? Because someone receives an income from riding, we should all be thankfull? Does that mean we should look less favourably on those less fortunate. Maybe you should invite them to your house so you can suck up a bit more LMAO
  8. Adding the magnesium just reduces the likely hood of it cracking outright. Its not so much that its stronger, it just has loads more 'give' in it. Incidently all aluminium your likely to come accross has silica in it, unless its a seven thousand series alloy. The Magnesium is bonded in structure and therefore offers zero chance of reaction. Its a good pretreated alloy. Thats all its saying. Oh, but to answer your question, its a medium strength alloy, where as a seven thousand series is a high strength alloy.
  9. Just put whatever combo on you fancy. Don't do what other people tell you to do.... Your trials bike should be as individual as you are.
  10. LMAO You car only does 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour You weigh 25 stone or something?
  11. LOL Its a bit academic how much people are spending if they aren't saying how many miles they drive in a week. For me its about 350 miles a fortnight, costs me about £40
  12. I just pop my bike into my car and drive to wherever I'm riding. Normally its about 5-7 miles away from where I live, sometime more, sometimes less. Although its a proper pain folding down the seats in my celica and fitting mine, and my friends bikes into the car. Have to take off the front wheels (front wheels off the bikes... not the car ) Could do with something bigger
  13. HA, god damn, no is wasn't Such is life, hey. But at least all the letters are there, just 2 of them are the wrong way around.
  14. If your a workshop genius do what I used to do on cars. If the bolt isn't sticking proud of the body, Drill and Tap a reverse thread into the sheared bolt. Then thread another bolt into the new hole. As you tighten up the new bolt it will spin the old bolt out..... but be gentle.
  15. LMAO.... whats with the appalling spelling and cursing. Ebay is pretty much the only place for second hand, apart from looking on the sale/wanted board. I'd be more interested to know whats wrong with the ones you have... they pretty bomb proof
  16. Still on my 05 T-Rex. 6 Months now. Rear Axle/hub replaced... but thats it.
  17. The only difference I've ever noticed, was the TPA adjuster on the 04, is on the outside, on the back of the brake lever, where as the 05 is part of the internal casting of the body. I can't say that I ever thought that the 05 lever was as bad as everyone says, I have one on my bike. I just like the lever more, I guess it depends on the size of your hand, and how rough you treat your bike.
  18. Cool, thanks for the replies, I'm going to track down some of the vids mentioned, and have a good watch of em. Like I said before, watching people ride natural, just looks better to me. But I can appreciate how dull it might look in a video.
  19. Hi fella. Welcome to the community, hope your riding goes well. I've only been riding trials for 6 months, and advice from this forum has helped loads.
  20. I've just been out today with the lads from MerseyTrials. On the rocks at the New Brighton sea front. I just couldn't help thinking how much more impressive and technical it is, to link a dozen moves, over a dozen rocks. Looks thousands of times better than urban vids. Like you said, its a proper endurance thing picking a line out across some rocks. A real challenge to a riders ability, not just to do one or two tricks, but to actually link all the moves together, for more than 10 secs.
  21. I learnt the easy way. Rest your front wheel on an obstacle, maybe 2ft high. Then lean back to get your balance on the back wheel. Then take a hop back, and try to put a hop in forwards. Just keep practising that. As for keeping your feet level, thats daft, you'll have no power. One pedal needs to be a little higher that level, so when you've put your kick in, both feet are level.
  22. I was looking at some fella's post (sorry I can't remember who by) with regards to the kind of riding people like to see in videos. You hardley ever see anyone linking a few moves together over a couple of obstacles (what I consider trials riding). Videos are all the same kinda, 1 scene, 1 obstacle... next scene, but I think thats urban riding for you. So how come I never see anyone doing vids of natural riding? Do people ride natural? and if so, why are there no good vids? I'm just getting tired of seeing the same variation of sidehops onto pallets and pedal kicks off railings.
  23. Heswall is a bit basic for trials.... half the reason I go to New Brighton for practise. Might be some stuff to do though.
  24. I've had problems just like this before. Repetitive strain injury.... also known as upper limb disorder. It has so many causes I'm not sure how to help. It could be your tendons not being properly stretched and being held in the same position for a long time (holding a mouse, and typing at a keyboard, driving a car). Possible causes for this would be a lack of complete movement and stretching in your arms. It could also be caused by poor exercise, allowing your muscles to grow out of proportion to your tendons growth. On the worst scale of the problem, it could be your tendon sheaths in your wrist. If these have dried out you'll have the tendon rubbing... very painful... all the time pain, regardless of how you hold your hand. My doctor gave me Horse strength anti-imflammatorys (very strong Ibu-profen to you and I). It was also recommended that I had some cod liver oil tablets and to stretch my wrists. Try pulling your hand back against your forearm, while your arm is around your waist area, or pushing both hands together (like praying) but with a little more force, and raising your elbows a bit. I'd strongly recommend seeing a doctor again. If you have carpel tunnel syndrome, you will need medical treatment.
  25. Less boring eh... Well I could give you all party hats Is that what you had in mind. Sure the new members forum is a bit transient, but thats its nature, its to sort the chaff from the wheat Although I tend to agree, a topic about topics not being interesting is a little circular in its thinking.... oh incidently, wasn't one of them "all the same" freeweb sites belonging to new_to_trials? I don't see anything wrong with currently discussing bike parts, trials media, and peoples contributions on a trials forum..... do you?
