    Cheques

Thats mad, I went to the bank today to cancel the cheque, because im getting worried that ive sent all my birthday money for nothing. The lady at the bank told me that she could not cancel the cheque, and could only reissue it. The money went out of my account as soon as the cheque was made,so it is my understanding that because they wont cancel it, I cannot get my money back at all. (even if I do have it re-issued I will have a cheque made out to the same person. He told me last night on MSN he would check his bank this morning and txt me to let me know if the money had gone into his account or not, I havn't heard from him since and ive tried phoning him 4 times but keep getting to his answer phone. Hes up, because he was on here this morning. Anyone experiance anything like this before have any ideas on what i should do?

    Cheques

Yeh its been taken to the bank for sure, it's my cheque going into someone else's account, and was a counter cheque, so the money left my account straight away, but I checked at the bank and it does still have to clear/cash. Its just a pain that if I had of sent a hand written cheque, I could have known that once the money left my account it had gone straight into the recipient's..... I doubt the bank could tell me if its gone into the other persons account either due to data protection....

  5. When I had the old D521's they were the best rim I had EVER had, without a doubt. if i was getting back into stock, its buy the same rims again 3 years later. Nothing Compares for me as im not really a fan of drilled rims.(yet)
  6. Yeh same from my experiance, I know a few who have broken mammoth's, havn't heard of a mavic exploding without good reason.....

Would you say that's a general rule or specific for Nationwide - LLoyds TSB?

    Cheques

I got a cheque made out on monday at my bank's (Nationwide) counter. It is my understanding that when I make a 'counter cheque' that this money is taken from my account straight away, however it does still have to clear before it will go into the recipient's account. Has anyone any idea how long it usually takes for a cheque to be cashed from Nationwide to LLoyds TSB? I sent it monday, recieved on tuesday, so it was either put in on tuesday or wednesday id assume..... Im hoping to get this before christmas but seeing as it hadn't cleared by yesterday (about 3 working days) im starting to get a little concerned. Any info to put my mind to rest is much appreciated........
  9. Ive been considering waiting until after xmas to get a new helmet, any thoughts on weather its a good enough idea to wait until the january sales?
  10. I would keep it the same colour and use the money towards something else like a better upgrade, to be honest I quite like the colour scheme of your bike as shown in your signature.... :$
  11. Whats all the yellow stuff in there? looks like brass shavings or something.......
  12. chainreactioncycles.com have the levers your looking for I think.
  13. I cant back it up, but I know more PowerPro cranks have snaped than Middleburn's, and its nothing to do with the fact that FSA have sold more cranks than Middleburn......(if they have?) MiddleBurns are the bench mark as far as im concerned for trial use.
  14. If you heat it until the metal is discoloured/burnt, you run the risk of changing the materials properties, and without cooling them down properly you can render the cranks VERY hard, but brittle, and if that happens the next time the crank hits a rock it would shatter. Just something to bear in mind.
  15. Is it not de-IONISED water that you buy? The stuff the used in chemistry labs in school, which is used in car batteries?

  17. Pro Desktop is old, I used it back in school, ok for very basic things. Solidworks is where its at these days.

    EDIT:working now
  19. The design of those components make them heavier without adding any strength to them.... Just something to think about. I wish you the best of luck with the business, it's something i'd like to do myself one day.
  20. http://www.mme.tcd.ie/~jbadger/grindingpage.html Where is the wheel when using a CNC Mill? The guy on OTN clearly stated that he used a custom tool he made himself, which was not a wheel....... If im wrong, then id appreciate the inside knowledge you have on mechanical processes.
  21. It wasnt ground by anything, it was CNC Machined, a process which has nothing to do with grinding....
  22. It would work because it helps to increase the friction between the pads and the rims but its definately not easier than grinding. That rim does actually look like a knurl in that the 'grind' is patterned leaving lots of small squares, id be very interested to know what sort of grinder/grinding disk was used to achieve that finish.... (Y)--> QUOTE(the big B @ Nov 24 2005, 12:47 AM) ← i read about it, and apparently thats not actually knurled. its just a really deep grind. i just trawled through that forum, god so much crap its unreal.... Anyway, it was created in a CNC mill with a custom tool, 'anotherash' is the username of the person who did it.
  23. a knurl is what you put on a smooth round surface to give a bit of grip, check out the little rod below the tool itself in the above picture, the right hand side is knurled, while the left is untouched. They are knurled....
