isitafox
I bought a replacement axle for my Echo TR hub a few months back and ever since I fitted it the bolt fitment has been awful, after about 1cm of thread each bolt goes really stiff and you struggle to screw it in. As a result the only way to get the wheel out or even adjust it is with 2 allen keys as you need one in a bolt to hold the axle still whilst you unscrew the other, any ideas as to what is causing this?? weirdoku
Are you hub bolts/axle straight? You could try screwing in a different bolt in, if that one goes in fine then it'll be your original bolts. But if not then it must be something not right with the threads inside the axle. Blake
Run a tap through it, inspect bolt for any flatspots in thread ensure is well greased
isitafox
I used 2 brand new bolts as the old axle was bent and the threads had been stripped on one side. Will have to try and get them chased out and see if that helps.
Blake
Bolts 0.8mm pitch? Worth having an m5 and m6 tap for trials stuff so might be worth investing
*gentlydoesit
Debris in the threads or bolts too long?? They're only tapped ~30mm deep. Assume you used some anti seize type lube. Spare 116 axle here
lifes-a-trial
Run a plug tap down Dave. This will correct the thread to the end in the axle, rather than using a taper tap.

isitafox
Threads have been chased and will have a pair of new Stan bolts waiting for me at Shipley on Sunday (as well as a new set of Trialtech SL cranks, sneaky sneaky so the missus doesn't go ballistic!)

isitafox
Well I can safely say that chased threads and new bolts made absolutely f**k all difference!
