i use a black specialised s1. its by far the best fitting helmet i have tryed. it does retail at 80 quid though (Y) . but i got mine for 50 at a local bikeshop, but i heard a friend say he found them quite cheap on the net. i think its an amazing helmet but as tart said, the best helmet is the one that fits!

I bought the other day a Timeless "SemiMX" style lid and it is really cool! It has visor and looks like motorcycle trials helmet. I really like this flat white finish.

This was 39euoros/about £25-30. This one has better ventilation than BMX style pots but this still protects more than normal MTB lids.

edit: The only pic that I could find...

wudnt mind seeing that on an actual trials rider...wud like to see what the outcome was looks wise!!

nice option to the semi though..

if anyone has more pic..details...or even a pic of it on someone..maybe even the helmet... get some pics in!!!

Ideas: try loads on, see what fits best - its the ONLY way!

The best helmet is still the one that fits you!

:ermm:

You seem to be ignoring the only good advice thats been posted! When i wanted a helmet i trust tried on EVERY single helmet in my shop until one...

A: Fitted Me Well

B: Looked The Part

All helmets sold in the uk MUST conform to the same British Standard - therefore (theoretically) al helmets are just as good as each other.

So it dosnt really matter, you just have to be comfy in your lid - otherwise you won't wear it enough OR will get pissed off with it.

http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk have Xens for £70 and the 2004 Giro Semi-MX in gloss black.

Tempted to get a Semi/Xen, but don't have anywhere to try them on.  Does anyone know if you can mail order helmets and send them back if they don't fit, without having to pay a %age of the cost?

Mark.

EDIT:  Link actually works now :P

We've got an semi in on display in black so i'm guessing the other stores should have. Theres loads all over the place so you should be able to find one somewhere

:edit: We being Halfords :(

The nearest Halfords is around 45 miles away though, and the nearest Halfords BikeHut is around 90 miles away. Not so good...

Either way, Waynio's sending me a Xen to try on. Fortunately (in some ways), each manufacturer has their own average head shape, so I should be able to get some idea of what Giro's is like from that, even though the Semi will feel different. It's the same as how Met's always feel like there's 2 ridges on the crown of the helmet htat dig into my head, and so on...
