Hope Head Doctor

Got a head doctor this morning and i cant figure out why its not working...ive put it in my fork and tighetned it up a treat, the bolt goes stiff but my headset doesnt tighten at all, still really wobbly. Also now the main bit of it is stuck in my fork, how do i get it out to put a star nut back in, if needed?

Oh and im running fatty forks, and a echo control stem.

Mine did this just before i ripped the bolt in half. Mine was because something had rusted to the fork and wasn't allowing the doctor to do it's job. Sounds like thats whats happened with yours.

To get the piece out (probably rusted like mine) your best bet is using a hammer and a long screwdriver. Go in from the bottom with the forks upside down and beat it out, try loosening it with some WD40/GT85 sprayed down there and left for an hour or so. May help.

Mine did happen a few years ago now though so there may be a better way of getting it out or a different design thats restricting it.

Wait a min...i just took it off with an 8mm allen key in the main bit...am i supposed to tighten this right up in the fork, before putting the bolt in? I just put the bolt in right away and tightened...

not a fan of these sort of things myself, would much rather just run a star nut in my forks

i used to run a conix, which is a very similar idea to the head doctor in my old fatty-r forks which came with old fsa headsets, after years of using this i took it off to find that the steerer tube looked very stressed at the top near where this had been. . . .

. . . .also if these types of things were any good then why does fsa now provide a star nut with their headsets these days, yes they maybe cost less but there must be more to it than that
