Post Your Computer Workstation.!

Porn, why else?

I found two useful for design work, but still found that I had windows overlapping and generally couldn't see everything I needed to at once. Another one would have done, but to run three monitors I needed two graphics cards, which gave four outputs, meaning one was unused and wasted. ^_^ to be honest four is overkill for me and I found that the furthest left rarely gets used as it gives me a sore neck turning all the time >_<

To the person that asked how, the motherboard is an ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA which supports both AGP and PCI-E graphics cards, of which I am using a 7900GTX (PCI-E) and 6200 (AGP).

why has everyone got like 30 screens? you only need one?

It really depends on what you use your computer for. For me, editing (obviously) - so one screen for timeline, canvas etc, and the other one lists all the footage, and a full screen preview. Im guessing MaXsteri's setup depends what his job is I guess?! Or, as Dave might put it, just likes to watch a lot of porn :P

Other than that I can't image why you would want 4 of the same sized screens. For example, a lot of editing suites have 2 main screens, one smaller/larger broadcast monitor and a larger LCD screen to show clients who are sitting elsewhere in the room.

For example...

The screen on the wall above the desk (you can just about see the bottom of it) is, like I say, for the director/client to see edit progress. So yeah, what do you do on your computer MaXsteri? :)

EDIT: OK I take too long posting haha, thanks for clearing it up Max. (Y)

I believe your last question is supposed to read "Anyone here used Windows on a Mac?" in which case, the answer is yes, and it's very fast.

that is without a doubt my favourite set up so far Steve.

I wish I'd taken a pic of my desk at work this morning - I had one of those big robot arm monitor stands with a 21" CRT on it and it collapsed over the weekend so I was faced with a monitor lying face down on my keyboard and bits of robot arm spread all over the floor

I'll update mine since i've changed the audio setup a bit

4-channel sound now, two small Goodmans speakers near the monitor

And two big Goodmans speakers and an McVoice amp behind the chair. They're very old but incredibly good! Note the english plugs on the wall :P

The sound is much better when I turn around, unfortunately there's no space by my desk for the big speakers :(

Them speakers are hugggeeee, especially for having them in your room!

Nice.

Are they deafeningly loud? And do your neighbours complain when you use them at a nice level?

Never tried using them at a very high level but I turn them up on parties and they sound incredibly well.

Even when you're just quietly listening to music, they're so much better because the sound fills the room so you can go do somewhere else and still get the feeling that music is coming at you from all directions :)
