Alastair Posted August 31, 2006 Report Share Posted August 31, 2006 (edited) Hey guys, Yesterday i decided that im gonna spray my Toxin 1 Pink, and i am no sure what kind of paint to use, i read a review on here and it said Halford was good for paint, so i looked on the site and couldnt find any Pink paint at all, anyone got any ideas where i can get some Bright pink spray?. trialsking 55 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Share Posted August 31, 2006 DO NOT put the laquer or before the paint!!!the laquer goes on last, when all coats of paint have been applied, this keeps a shiny protective finish to the overall paint job.make sure the frame is stripped of the original paint and has no oil or dust or anything on the frame.primer goes on first, white or grey primer for ligter colours, black for darker colours. this helps the paint to stick.i'd say a good 2 layers of primer and about 3 or 4 of the actual paint and 1 coat of laquer.make sure each layer is dryed before you add another. after you have completed all satges leave the frame to completely dry out for a day or so, so as the paint can harden and become less prone to scratches when rebuilding the bike. trialsking 55 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Share Posted August 31, 2006 Another case of the "If it's not on the internet it doesnt exist" syndrome...Their website is a pile of shite, i'm sure they will sell it, however if they dont your localcar parts type shop will.yep, the local halfords round here has flourescent spray paint, there's yellows, greens, pinks and blues.at certain B'n'Q's they have a machine that can mix paints to the exact colour you want. alothough i think its only the paint you can paint onto walls etc. not spray paint. check out car specialists though, because if you look into magazines like max power you will see cars with some crazy paint jobs. but the more specialist you go, expect to pay much more.but if you want flourescent pink, next time you go by your local halfords or B'n'Q just drop in and have a look. Willsey Posted August 31, 2006 Report Share Posted August 31, 2006 yea sand it down, with fine sandpaper, then primer it a few times, but when spraying always spray the same way, and dont put to much on at a time or it will 'run' and look cr*p.. i would say 2 primers, 3 normal, and aout 2 lakers.. normally does the job also get a light coloured primer like white or grey, so it doesnt make the pink dark.. I got inspiration from Oakley(?)'s frame, think it looks very nice, and i have basically the same colour parts to build on to it. max-t Posted August 31, 2006 Report Share Posted August 31, 2006 im actaully very surprised that no one has said to take it to a place where they actually do it professionally like a car body shop or a specialist that can go over it a few times with a gun and good paint? you can get all sorts of effects too like a metallic for example and it shouldnt cost more than 50 quid ..(if your willing to pay that anyway)max..... Anyone got any idea how much paint i will need for this? cos i was looking on Halfords and i found this sort of stuff when i searched paint: Halfords . Also what is the best technique to stripping the frame? and how much would a primer be?
