if you don't use gears, i.e run single speed then you would be best off having the chain tight enough to have the mech against the chain stay, then put a cable tie around the mech and frame so it don't move at all.

just stare at them like you are going to MURDER/TORTURE them, whilst breathing real heavy!! funny as fook.

i use to do it most sidehops.........i found that if you do loads of smaller walls then you don't tend to put your foot down, just do this for 30 odd sidehops and it should have you in the rythem of it staying on.

plus they all smoke and are usually drunk 24/7, so it will be a tad more difficult to run of from a trials rider.

i had a sarecen x-ile.......with v-brakes which needed 2-3 fingers it was so funny to ride on, then i got a dmr trailstar, then a basebike ta26, and now my zoo! i only really learnt how to wheelie with the brake on the x-ile, but kept falling off the back. and also learnt to do some sketchy 2 finger pedal hops.
