Hm.. excuses If you *were* to imagine it as matching the *wheels* instead of the plane, you would end up with a positive feedback loop in the direction the plane initally travelled, which, in seconds would overcome the bearings in the wheels and completely destroy the plane. For example, planes wheels go 2mph, conveyor matches, this makes wheels go 4mph, conveyor matches, 8mph, matches, 16, 32, 64 etc etc... Nobody has thus far mentioned this possibility therefore we can just assume that everyone who did not conclude that the plane took off plain *got it wrong*

Someone quoted the actual riddle above. The conveyor matches the speed of the plane in the oposite direction. So, if the plane travels at 20mph along the conveyor, the conveyor will go 20mph inthe opposite direction. Relative speed between conveyor and plane: 40mph. Result: planes wheels spin a bit quicker, but it still takes off. It must be in your genes weather you can get it or not.

You may be onto something there... I mean, theres all this dangerous radiation from mobiles yeah, why don't thry wrap mobiles in tin foil (obviously on the inside) to stop the radiation leaking out?! In fact, i just had a little think about this, and the problem is that that spinney thing that sends the high voltage down your HT leads (i'm no petrol head!) is causing flutuations in voltage that your line-in in your stereo interprets as sound and thats why you can hear it in the speakers. Now, i'm not sure about this, but if the signal is on the outside of the cable ONLY, then one of those electromagnetic guard things you put on the end of plugs might do the trick. You know, those things that you clip around the cable. Look on all the cables going into your computer, they all have them but i cannot think of the name....

What's a supressor? Whatever anyway the way i stopped the noise (which sounded like a turbo in the way it changed pitch with the engine revs) was to groud the connected device. With my dvd player this just meant a wire from its metal case to somehere metal on the car (which is earth/ground). It still makes the noise when the pda/satnav's connected, becasue there's nowhere to attatch a chosty metal wire to it, but it's less pronounced on that anyway so I havent given it too much thouhgt. Maybe grounding the metal case of the ipod would work? Maybe a supressor does just that! What is one!?

Easy to make it look tacky that way. I think the current design, since it was first implemented was very nice and quite up-to-date. The way forward is blocks of colours, low contrast, etc, which pretty much sums up the way the site is now.
