  1. You stay in the same place because it's your feet pushing you forwards in the first place. I SEE where you're coming from mate, but that's the riddle you just haven't figured yet! The plane is powered by engines that are attatched to the wings and move the air. Unlike you running on a treadmill, they are not powered by their wheels. So the treadmill has no effect. I cannot explain it any clearer, and fear I am repeating myself already! Maybe if you imagine swapping the plane for a hovercraft? Would the hovercraft move forwards??
  2. True, it is. The wing forces no air down, it creates a low-preassure area of air above the wing, so the wing is forced upwards. This is because the air travelling over the wing has to travel further than the air going under the wing, therefore spreading it out over a longer distance, lowering the pressure. Besides that, ther IS air going over the wing! The conveyor belt does shit all to stop the plane moving! Would a treadmill placed under your front wheel while you are track-standing do anything to move you (if you didn't have you brake on)?? NO! Plane wheels are free to move too, and as such the conveyor has no effect!
  3. That's a type of matter, discovered through use of the laws of physics. No problem there. We have laws for gravity, and they work perfectly (many verified during) eclipses Thats an invention, again trying to put into practice the laws of physics. i really dont know what you're trying to say here... What's that? Are you having a laugh?
  4. Err, read 'The conveyor would just make the wheels spin faster as the plane acellerated in a normal way!' Therefore air is travelling past the wings. The reason it still moves is because the planes engines move the air. The engines are unaffected by the conveyor belt, which just affects the wheels (which are like your front bike wheel and just spin!)
  5. Yeah, I don't know what that guy's laughing at every time he hears that it would take off. You can laugh at physics once you understand it The conveyor would just make the wheels spin faster as the plane acellerated in a normal way!
  6. They're a set of laws that explain the way the world work. You'll learn about it by the time you finish school, probably.
  7. You're unplugging the monitor from the back of the pc to take the card out? Try *just* unplugging the monitor from the pc then pluging it back in again without taking the card out. If that works, you're monitor is broken. Edit: fat fingers, pwned
  8. I saw that. Yep yep there's a bill currently being pushed through parliment outlawing any deciduous trees within 100m of a railway line. It's expected to come into force sometime in 2008, and will reduce leaf-related rail crashes by 41.8%.
  9. How can it be a more beautiful world, never seeing your girlfriend naked? Gutted
  10. I read that whenever a butterfly flaps it's wings it causes a Tornado on the coast of Indonesia. Surely that will derail a train or two?
  11. Interesting question... Blind people experience the world around them through feeling things and hearing things. They can sense the shapes of objects by touching them, and build up a model of it in their mind through that. The model might not 'look' like it would if someone were to look at it, but they have an idea of what's in front of them, in 3d, just like we do by looking at it. The idea for us, for example, of a cardboard box, is 1.brown 2. cuboid 3. got stuff in I guess it's only brown that requires us having 'seen' before. The other descriptions are abstract principles which can be appreciated by the blind person. So the blind person thinks of a cardboard box as 2. cuboid 3 got stuff in. So i guess they won't be able to appreciate colours, that's all. I'll bet they can visualise* shapes and stuff, just without any of the things added in that come from seeing, like colour. * visualise kind of implies sight, maybe 'understand' or 'appreciate' is a better word
  12. Me and a few mates in the little known peak-district town of Sheffield. Anyone from the area care to guess the bar? Or which one I am? Not many people on here know me! How good is the quality on that for a camera phone? K800 is amazing!
  13. They can pay YOU with your card details? You've been had mate. When I won, they asked me to send a blank signed cheque, so that they could write a negative amount in the amount box, and they would pay me that way. Still waiting. Cheques take a while to clear.
  14. I walked past the telly while my parents were doing bamboozle on the teletext with the sound on, apparently oblivious to the filth eminating from the speakers. Sounded all right!
  15. f**k me its you!!! anyway yeah, try upgrading first, if that doesnt work try coming back to here saying ;ti didnt work' WTF is guided mode
  16. Yeah, and it is dead easy to use too. The free version limits you to only 1 concurrent user i think. If you have windows xp professional though, you already have an FTP server without installing anything (IIS) Not quite as easy to use but just as good.
  17. Haha. It's the truth I tell you. Back in my day there was none of this terrorism mumbo jumbo. I blame electricity.
  18. Press windows key+r and type iexplore then press enter. type the address of the ftp server. don't forget ftp:// if you need to log in, click ok to any error and press file--> log in as If you need download resumes etc, get a better program. the one i used to use was called ftpx (ftp explorer). Did the job and was free. IE does the job for me though, anything more is overkill except if you're (down/up)loading gigs
  19. That's silly. There was more crime in the 1800's than today. I don't have any sources, but I bet it's true if you research it. Also, look at crime rates for America where they have capital punishment as a 'deterant', they have more murders, and that little thing called 9/11. Think the suicide bombers care about capital punishment? Think again
  20. Bring back national service to remind everyone that we're on the same side. I'd do my year. Would help the obesity problem too.
  21. Disable cleartype in effects in appearence in display properties in control panel in start menu. Might be something to do with that.
