  1. Nobody knows.... For the record, I am of the 1337 group with number <500, and never changed my name. What do I get!?! Whatever happened to (the popularity of) Section 7!!!?!?!?
  2. Ha one sticks in my mind, where, someone had spotted that he'd posted on some photography website a stolen photograph, claiming that it exemplified how good the quality was on his camera phone. Course, Wrighty didn't know what exif data was, unlike the photography bods on there. Much helarity ensued as the entire photography forum ripped Wright to shit as Trials Forum members watched.
  3. I don't know. I imagine it will, as usual, be some kind of secondary observation, as is usually the case. Like how you know that the wind is blowing outside your window because the trees move, even if you can;t actually feel the wind. They will observe the reactions of something they can measure, and deduce that a certain particle was created. I'm guessing it will be very in depth and beyond the scope of this thread on a biking website! Especially for me anyway, as I'm pissed!
  4. Ha, too right! Phil_anderer, IOLO, are all these people still around? I think it was a real shame when they allowed you to change your name, gets so confusing!
  5. As user 111 i'm pretty much part of the furniture around here, joining TF in 2002, and I just looked back at posts I made years ago, using the search function, and noticed how different I was back then. Does anyone else do this? I think it's so cool. Are there any 'classic' threads anyone cares to bring up?
  6. Exstacy made me grind my teeth loads for about 3 days as someone has already said. Not a pleasent effect.
  7. The old SNES games are best; Mario can be played quite well with the keyboard. Serious nostalgia trip though; playing it after bath time on a Sunday night before school (work) with my sister (girlfriend). Is that wierd? Nah.
  8. I am wrong then; I landed on the 26th March and stayed a couple of days. Still, small world!!
  9. I didn't see it, but I hate to think of it like that. It just makes me lose all interest to think that all this thought-effort will never be shown in experimentation (and by that nature there will never be a practical use). You statement suggests that we'll never see experimental evidence. Having said that, the statement is based on extrapolating the current, unmodified technology to the required scale that would produce evidence; it doesn't say we wont find another way to provide evidence other than the (as it has already been described here) seemingly primative way of smashing things together as fast as possible and seeing what bits fly off. yer i think its amazn this smashin stuff 2geva gypos n that.
  10. Your girlfriend is nice. You know you were probably in 'Dam Square' at exactly the same time as me with my girlfriend (assuming you mean easter this year). Interesting factoid, eh.
  11. When you see it, you'll shit bricks!
  12. Striping - read up on it. Basically, yes. The partition is spanned across the 2 disks so that when the computer needs a file off the partition (or 'drive' in windows) the file is fed simultaneously off the 2 disks rather than off 1. Best results are gotten when the disks are identical, for reasons I'm not 100% on. I can vouch for it working though. It is worth it. EDIT: In more detail: the windows directory cannot reside on a dynamic partition (ie one striped across 2 disks). So the ideal solution would be 3 disks: 1. Windows disk 2. Striped partition* 3. Striped partition* *together forming one striped partition in windows for your programs/page file. However with just 2 disks you will still notice an improvement, setup as follows: 1. First say 40gb windows, rest of disk striped partition* 2. used as striped partition* *together forming one striped partition in windows for your programs/page file. This configuration wont show as much improvement becasue the first disk head will have to jump between the physical positions on the disk of the 2 separate partitions when simultaneously wanting to access windows files and the game files or page files or whatever.
  13. The components you've listed there will be hard to beat without throwing a lot more money at it. In other words that will be one very fast PC. Cheapest way to improve would be to double up with identical HDDs and stripe a dynamic partition for your swapfile and program files. This will speed up disk access, which is the bottleneck your system will encounter loading up games (esp FSX).
  14. k i foned 999 and offered them a washin machnie but basically they sed f**k off com eon guys im f**ked if i cant think what 2 do

  16. What about stroking a hadron and making something come out? An understanding of funtamental physics will lead to things being invented, based on that understanding. It might lead to better computers, and other things requiring really small parts, etc, but really at the minute it's just for 'shits and giggles', accumulating an understanding which might have practical use in the future. As for should the money have been spent... we should definitely not wait until *all* of the worlds problems are solved before looking into this stuff. Besides, the project: - increases diplomatic stability across 20 nations - will produce results (either confirming or not confirming the higgs boson at certain energy levels) - and was able to be budgetted accurately (money and time) These are all plus points which attract funding. Unfortunately throwing money after curing diseases is not like this.
  17. And I *always* thought you were a guy. Wow.
  18. You're not supposed to say that!!! Plus how do you know who has/hasn't got one? I hear that squirting a bit of cillit bang around is a measure just to make sure. Tis true though. Long term gf's ***. Edit: since when has For The Win been a swear word? Nazis!
  19. I commute 25 mi to work (when in the office) and I try to slipstream lorries on the m'way (the traffic's pretty bad and it's comparably not that slow and a lot less stop-start). 1.2l petrol punto does about 52mpg usually (trip computer). Do get home with the logo for Meditterranean Shipping Company burned into my retinas often though. And how tempting is it to make some kind of harpoon device and take slip streaming to a new level? Just kidding the question is rhettorical. 'Very' is the answer.
  20. Yeah, in that OP just got a few while out camping.
