Well only you can see the freewheel, so kinda up to you... But you could grind the freewheel off when you're done with it, or drill new holes for the tool to fit into afterwards.

Never done it, but everyone uses a file. If i was to go about it, I'd drill out the 4 corners, then use the drill to remove as much material as possible then finish off with a file.
