  1. Everyone's too damn fast for me. Mark's been there fairly recently, I do know that.... how's the Tensile freewheel surviving? You might need a very fine spacer to space the freewheel slightly away from the bash if the freewheel catches on it.
  2. Judging by the bit still welded to the frame you could quite happily carry on without the plate. If you mean the Tensile UCI guard ring (not for bashing...), you'll have to be careful. If it all dies in a horrible fashion, there's still the half price replacement. I suggest you block up the hole with something if you don't want to get it full of cack from wet roads.
  3. I've never seen one broken there before. So while I think you could smooth it off and carry on riding as everyone suggests, I don't know for certain. Is there just smooth tube under there or a hole? Please let us know how you get on. As for the bashring, did they mean THIS bashring/chainring combo? I don't know if that would fit to that variety of T-Pro (not seen it tried). You would possibly need a longer bottom bracket and of course the freewheel would go at the back.
  4. On the contrary, it probably will. It'll be a good enough fake to go through the bank and then come back after a couple or more weeks (after you've assumed you're safe and sent the phone). Then you have no phone and no money. Glad you've seen the light, though. It's a cliche and has probably been quoted on this thread already, but: ANYTHING THAT SEEMS TO BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, USUALLY IS.
  5. DON'T! I was offered a good price for a laptop I was selling on EBay that was being sent to "a pastor in Nigeria" (usually it's something charitable sounding to gull you). I didn't, of course. Check out the scams on the web. If you receive a cheque, wait a few weeks, it'll come back to you marked up to the effect its a counterfeit or that you need to check with the writer of the cheque for the money. And all of a sudden, what do you know! Vanished! IF you have a cheque, phone the bank (or post office?) it's drawn from and ask them. How have you been paid for it? Or have you been paid for it? Sorry, I'll write this for anyone who needs it, and anyone who's asking how much ANYTHING costs to send does need it. If you need to make a call to somewhere foreign for the bank, the best place for cheaper calls is http://www.niftylist.co.uk/calls/ and pick the letter you need. Excellent thing, I might even do a separate post about it...
  6. Do a google search for "rest2514" and download from a link. Or direct download link at www.snapfiles.com: http://files.webattack.com/localdl834/REST2514.EXE The program is called Restoration (v2.5.14) and it's a freeware undeleter.
  7. that came out seeming ruder than it should have... when I said "just re-read" I meant I just re-read it, not that you should. What settings did you use? Maybe someone else will know better. .vro: never heard of it. It won't be the same as .vob See if you can just rename .vro to .mpg or .mp2 , or as you say, drag the .vob into the editor. It's a four-pin-to-six-pin connector. Picture of the four pin one:
  8. EDIT: This post is a mess. I would delete it, but I was trying to be helpful. Ah,well. Firewire should work, if the hole is there in your camera for it. Find out why not. Flask isn't a video editor if I remember rightly. EDIT: just re-read your original post. You need to find out what settings to use, because it should convert it OK as long as you have the right software (codec) to convert to something useful, rather than whatever it is you're converting to. What format are the DVDs you end up with? Can they be played straight away in a player? If so, then the DVD ripping software will get you MPEG2 format VOBs onto your hard drive. I've never tried to edit a VOB file, so can't advise. Can you choose to record on the little DVD disc in different formats? I would be interested to know if there's a converter...
  9. That is the proposal for the next T-Mag frame. We have a couple of other photos, but that's it for now. Links: Proposed T-Mag whole frame (almost) Different angle on the head tube That centre section
  10. You haven't said how long the Ashton forks are. I could measure up either the disc only Smart Guys or the Fly Guys as fitted to the Onza Zoot (24" wheel in dark blue, four bolt + disc mounts) if you are interested. The Fly Guys are now one piece with the same top cap arrangement as the Smart Guys. The black Smart Guys have straight blades but no rim brake mounts, the Fly Guys have rim brake mounts but curved blades (and they are dark blue, which really means it depends what else is on the bike).
  11. That T-Mag had an internal headset. Just to complicate matters there was an almost identical Mission at the time which didn't (it took a standard headset I think). If the frame hasn't been resprayed and still says Onza you can be sure. Otherwise look again...
  12. In the opposite sense to Marks observation they have a tendency to unscrew themselves, with all the tense and flex that happens as the wheel rotates. I experienced that with road wheels, though. Maybe you'd do better with smaller wheels, although I can't see why. See if you can find anyone that uses straight spokes for an opinion? If they exist, that is.
  13. I don't know if this is 'messenger spam' which I have heard of but never experienced. Try switching off messenger service? This is unrelated to Windows Messenger, which you might use. 1. Start->[settings, maybe]->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services 2. Click on the "status" bar at the top enough times to see which services have started 3. If there's one called "Messenger", right click on it and stop it. Then right click on it again and use the properties to disable it. My own is disabled and has been for a long time. Check what is started when your computer starts with StartUpList, found here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html (one or two other useful things there too) And let us know if there are any start lines you don't recognise or can't find reference to on the web AVGFree virus scanner is worth mentioning, as is ZoneAlarm (also free) if you don't already have a virus scanner. Although Windows with SP2 does have its own firewall software I still prefer ZA, having got used to it (no comments please)
  14. Reggies and Ronnies are available in 24". 36 hole, drilled.
  15. [checks own at home] smtp.ntlworld.com (port 25) - would only affect sending mail if wrong pop.ntlworld.com (port 110) - the pop server user name - just the bit before "@ntlworld.com", not including it. password - well, you used it to get on your mail on the web. If there are any error messages, let us know what they are. Someone might know better.
  16. You can check if the NTLWorld account is working by looking at your mail from NTLWorld - http://www.ntlworld.com/webmail/?page_zone=211.7.1 and if you can get at your mail through your browser you know it's the mail client. With NTL the main password is the letter followed by about ten numbers (I don't remember how many, it's on that CD) Try Mozilla Thunderbird, it's got a nice spam and scam filter when it's set up. If you knew all of this and already tried it, please ignore this post.
  17. I think I was just talking to you on the phone... That hanger does look like the type 4 and it probably is the same thing. Put that lovely PDF onto the forum somewhere and link to it from the mech hangers FAQ that I mentioned.
  18. Agreed, you can find lots of examples of this scam on the web. The cheque might even go through and the money appear on your account, at which point you may be tempted to send the bike and the excess money. Unfortunately the cheque is either fake or stolen, and the bank won't let you keep any money they might have credited you with in error. So, if you've sent the bike and the extra money you lose: a.) the bike b.) the original value of the whole cheque c.) the extra money you sent (? I'm wondering if this makes sense. Anyway, trouble) oh and d.) any chance of ever seeing any of it again. The bank will want its money back and you might end up arrested for giving it to a stranger. Steer clear. I think I told you this on a previous post too. Still, you could get them to send the cheque and wait for it to come back stamped "REFER TO DRAWER" - I've seen some of those on the web, too - but if you waited that long the person trying to scam you might get anxious and start sending you threatening emails too.
  19. SCAM. You can find descriptions of that type of scam at various places on the web. By the time the bank gets around to sending the draft back (usually fake or drawn from a non-existant bank or bank account) and removing the money, you've sent the item AND the money. Search for common internet scam on google You lose, big time.
  20. Fair enough, I can suggest that, but I did wonder about getting the job done the expensive way too. I am a bit curious about how much it would cost to do it either way.
  21. Just for the occasional emails we get asking for custom painted frames, so I can direct them to a good company. If you know any
