They could, but only really little books.

F**k knows. Never used the headphone socket on mine. I has iPod. EDIT: Have you tried turning it off and on again?
-
Just eliminating stuff. If it boots with no GPU but the 8pin connected then it's just a new GPU you be needing. Could be a knackered line on the PSU though that feeds the 8pin, or that the PCIE lanes have gone pop on the motherboard. Just need to eliminate them one by one!

Just went indoor bouldering tonight, ridiculously hard work! Need to work on my finger strength more than anything, by the end I was struggling to hold on to holds that were essentially door handles.
-
Me Sam? :/ I sense some mis-reading. Yah, live in the center walking distance from http://www.climbingworks.com/ I have a mate who's good (led up to E6), he's going to teach me to lead soon. If you need somewhere to stay any time you're up give me a shout.
-
Lol s'alright, I'm off back to my folks tonight straight from work and not back till Monday.
-
Hmmmm. Does that board work with a different GPU with the 8pin connected? You've already tried another PSU but have you tried it without the GPU in place?
-
Ah sick, any time you're back at your parents give me a shout man, gonna be living nearby for at least the next 12 months.

Eventual plan is to have a server in the cupboard under the stairs running CentOS/Ubuntu Server as the primary OS, then multiple VMs in that. At the moment I'm just playing with VMs in VMWare Player in W7.

Sounds like a rather shitty situation. I live in Sheffield, so less than an hours drive to Stanage, Burbage or the Roaches, plus loads of little places, and my flat is 0.7 miles from the Climbing Works. Would be rude not to start again! I've never led, just never appealed to me that much. I'm shit anyway, hardest I've ever climbed is severe outdoor, no idea on indoor.
-
I don't have that kinda case, and to be honest the best place for it air flow wise would be in the free PCI slot. Thanks for the idea though! Winning? Anyone got any experience with these?

I recently went climbing again after a 7 year lay off, planning on taking it up properly again. Anyone on here climbing atm?

Could just be an incompatible graphics card? At this stage it's very hard to say what should and shouldn't work (bloody alienware ). If the PSU went pop, it could have taken other things with it, although that's very rare it does happen. I have a problem. I'm trying to run a load of virtual machines on my gaming machine, so it will be both a gaming rig and a server. Brilliant! Only one ridiculously power hungry computer to run. Apart from I need multiple network cards, but the space is already full of graphics cards. I could worm one in there but it would restrict air flow to the lower graphics card, which I'd rather avoid. Bit stumped to be honest! I like playing with servers. I think it's my new hobby.

Ballers run orange lights. -
I are experimenting with servers. Using MineOS in a virtual machine at the moment, it appears to work well enough. Not happy about the amount of world holes though, it's running (effectively) across a 100mbps network...

Raid is great but shouldn't be relied on IMO. Always best to have an external backup as well, kept unplugged preferably elsewhere. (I don't bother as everything I can't bare to lose fits in my dropbox account). -

Cheap nasty case, RAM, PSU and motherboard. Brilliant value! You can get i3 for that money, which is far superior to an old Athlon II dual core. -
They behave in funny ways when a mobo dies, I've never seen one that was just completely dead. If you want something new for BF3, would it be possible to hang on for a while? Ivy Bridge is being released on November 15th. Personally though I'd fix the Alienware and hang fire for DDR4. (As I am doing now, by build is getting on as I first built it in Oct 09, but I'm dragging it out as long as I can). If they can't help, don't suppose you live anywhere near Sheff? If you want you can come round mine with it and we can spend a day swapping bits into mine to check them all off.

Aye I'd say there's no reason for a stand alone car, but I'm not even going to look at builds to be honest because it's not clear what you're after. "Large picture files", you mean editing the ones you take for work or graphic design work? (I know people who have photoshop files that are 3gb+). Is that all it will do? No video editing or anything? -
He removed the video card, and it's a desktop not a laptop. Rocktrials, that issue sounds like dead power supply, motherboard or possibly RAM to me. Given that you've tried another PSU, (without the graphics card in there? 500w is enough to run any single CPU/single GPU setup available), and you've played with the RAM I'd say dead motherboard unfortunately. With it being Alienware, (why did you do it to yourself? ), best bet is to get in touch with them. Hope it's still under warranty!

Wipes everything and makes it like new. Google time! I'm on the phone.

Spec should be fine, sounds like a software issue. I always just reinstall windows to solve these things.
-
What's the spec of your computer? Sounds like you don't have enough RAM and Vega is cutting off the render because it's filling it up. 30gb sounds like it should be OK to me, but I've never rendered anything so I wouldn't know.

You can do it without redstone, but redstone is so much cooler. I'm going to make all my internal doors use pressure plates on either side. No point, people will just dig through the wall. Besides this is my SP map, I don't build anything I care about online any more, too many bastards about.
-
Getting the hang of it. I now have a double front door, pressure plate behind each door, if you stand on either of them both doors open, with a button on the outside for getting back in. Fast exit and creeper-proof entry.
