If I were you, I'd do that upgrade you just planned out, although RAM is dirt cheap atm, so I'd go for 2x4gb straight away, not 2x2gb now and 2x2gb later. (Also running 4 sticks instead of 2 can cause instability and limits overclocking, although I think that's mainly AMD stuff). CPU is sorted then? 2600K would be my choice. (Get a decent cooler). Don't get a cheap board though, you'll only end up replacing it. I'd recommend this one. It will only run the two 460s at x8/x8 instead of x16/x16, but that's what mine does, and I researched it fairly carefully, it only makes a 2-3% reduction in speed, but you save £60 on the motherboard. RAM is a funny one on SB, apparently they perform best with Corsair XMS3. Basically SB Doesn't like running the RAM at anything over 1.5v, so you need something that will run at a decent speed at 1.5v. (Make sure if you go for that RAM, that you get that specific one. They also do an XMS3 that runs at 1600mhz, but with slightly tighter timings at 1.65v, which SB doesn't like). Try to get exactly the same graphics card if you can. Last point, get overclocking it! Any 2600K will hit 4.6ghz easily with a decent air cooler, and I've seen a lot of them go over 5.0ghz now.

There's a topic for computer related stuff: 10gb of free space isn't really enough, normally it should be about 10% IMO. (This is for OS drives, and I always get the best results having an OS partition of 250gb or less). What OS have you got and do you have the install disk and the license key? Use them. Seriously it takes me 6-8 hours to reinstall my OS and all my software, far less time wasted than I've spent in the past trying to mend stuff.

First of all, you need to find the bottleneck. That CPU, RAM and GPU are pretty balanced IMO, and to do an upgrade on that motherboard is dead money. (DDR2 and AM2+ at a guess?). I wouldn't recommend AMD at the moment. For cheapy end stuff they're amazing, (especially the Athlon X4 640 I have at work, £65 for a quad core that will use DDR3? Silly cheapys.) If you're wanting a decent increase in speed over what you have now though, and i7 2600K with 8gb of fast DDDR3 would be my suggestion. As for adding another 460, I'm not really sure if it will give you much of a visible increase. I have a GTX460 786mb at work, and it seems pretty powerful to me (although the most demanding game I've run on it was BFBC2). If you're looking for a cheap upgrade though, a second hand 955BE/965BE would help. They're clocked at 3.2/3.4ghz and also have a 6mb L3 cache compared to your current 2mb. Can you clarify, is it purely loading times you want to improve or framerates? If you just want faster loading times, I'd consider an SSD. I've not got one, as I can't be arsed, but I'm told they're pretty fast. Have you considered a complete upgrade? Expensive I know, but I have to say, there doesn't seem to be one particular "hole" in your current spec, it's just all a couple of years old.

Natwest. If you ever go to Uni, it's a 10 minute job to change it over to a Student account, plus IMO their student account gets the best perks.

None of the mods on here will care surely? This is discussing them, not advertising. The only forum that's remotely in competition with TF is OTN, which gets mentioned all the time. I only go on here and the OCUK forum these days.

Might have done, there was a slightly one there but I polished it out mostly. Splitter helps make the pistons move at the same speed, but also allows for a better hose path IMO, and allowed me to use two M8/M6 slaves, with each line going to an olive and a shroud. Unlike barbs, olives and shrouds are much harder to kick off. Sold it due to lack of time/drive to ride, lack of money, and I was moving out and had no-where to keep it. Pretty much. Still got my koxx for the odd play, which is roughly never. I'm not going to lie, right now I don't want it and don't think I ever will, would just like the option to have it back if it came up.

Must have done yeh. It don't need no tensioner, with that gearing if you get a brand new KMC Z610, it's the perfect legnth. If you want the details as to how anal I was with that build, get in touch lol. I don't really miss it to be honest, spent all my time fettling and polishing and no time riding it. Just would like the option open.

I sold it on ebay for £350ish I think... I posted it to whoever bought it anyway. Can I be cheeky and ask for first refusal if you ever want to sell it?
