  1. Check it's running in 32bit colour and not 16bit, and make sure you've got the latest graphics card drivers installed.
  2. Or not. I'd rather have one good printers than two shit ones. In 2000/2001 we bought our current printer, it rarely jams and everything comes out straight on the page and looking pretty. It's an HP Deskjet 940C, and you can still get cartridges for it! It was pretty mid-range back then I think, you could get printers for £75 and it was £140, but it's been a good buy and still works with W7. The only downside is it's white and looks f**king ugly. Should have taken it with me when I moved out really, my family have no use for it.
  3. Not really. It's pretty old school by todays standards to be honest.
  4. You were fed massive lies. It's a mid range card from the old series of nVidia graphics cards. Worth around £75-£100. Personally if I were you I'd ask to see it working, if it does then do the swap. It's a fairly powerful card still that will do until the ATI 6*** series come along and force all the prices down. (Or at least, that's what the rumors say will probably happen).
  5. If you use VLC media player you can boost the volume higher than 100%. It reads 200%, but it's not twice as loud as 100%. Worth a try?
  6. Nope, just a measily 28" computer monitor and £180 of speakers.
  7. Well IMO watching films on a laptop defeats the point of a film anyway...
  8. Get some external speakers for it?
  9. Haha, I'm always doing that sort of thing.
  10. I wouldn't recommend the 210, they're a little on the shit side these days. The 690 is a brilliant case, but make sure you get the Advanced Black version. Space for 10 fans, 3 graphics cards, good cable management, and a black interior, so there isn't a lot of modding left to do.
  11. Well more in the region of £500, £750 or £5k? Which case were you looking at? I have an Antec 300 at the moment which is great, but at some point I want to upgrade to a Haf X. Kinda getting bored of this whole modding/building scene now. Uni life is much more entertaining. I took my monster to uni with me and haven't played anything on it once since I arrived.
  12. Nope. Depends on the legnth, some cases are limited to a short PSU. Most of the time this isn't an issue though. We need a budget anyway, and what it'll be used for. Gaming/Video Editing/Overclocking/Modding/A Mixture? Do you plan on watercooling it in the future? Or now? Or even phase cooling?
  13. AVG + Zone Alarm + Common Sense = Profit. Stood me in good stead for 6 years now, I keep trying other stuff but nothing else seems to be as easy on system resources.
  14. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk I don't really use any others, but there are alternatives.
  15. I had the model up from that motherboard, it was shockingly bad. I also wouldn't be using an no-name PSU with decent kit. Depends how into it you want to get. If you want to do all the research and learn exactly what you want, then build it and spend time sorting out the air flow, cable management and other gubbins, then go for it. If not, buy this and a wack a posh graphics card in it.

    Rider Or Bike

Clearly both. If it's just down to the rider then why can't Tunni sidehop 60" on a road bike?
  17. Misunderstanding the new taskbar in W7? My advice, set it to "Always combine, hide labels" and get used to it. Once you've made the switch it's so much better IMO. Expecially for people who want 10+ programs open at once.
  18. Been stuck on 1 monitor for the last 2 weeks, hate it so much. Still, only like 5 months of it left...
  19. Hmmm. Funny one that. Try creating a new document with just plain text in it and transferring and printing that?
  20. Move over the the PC, copy and paste everything into a fresh document?
  21. I am a fan of Maplins return policy. I walked in today and just said, "I need to return this, there aren't any drivers available for W7", the guy just asked me for my credit card. I then went to Curry's, bought a USB Netgear adapter which says "Certified for W7" on the f**king box, and apparantly it's not supported by them. This is getting beyond a joke now, 3rd wireless connector device thing and I still can't make it go...
  22. f**k getting them to match up man. I'd basically have to turn off the backlight on the 28". I was already having to run it at 1440x900 instead of 1920x1200, thats enough abuse for it.
  23. I tested out triple monitors just before moving out. I have a shit little desk now so it's a squash getting my 28" on it on it's own... One day if I turn into a proper gamer, I'll buy two matching 28"s. Using 3 different monitors for eyefinity worked, but you have to use the smallest monitors max resolution, and the images didn't line up properly. Still, I had the 3 monitors and just had to spend £9 on an adapter to see if it would work.
