  1. They've spoken about it on Top Gear many a time. There were indeed only 3 episodes.

    Windows 7

You need a .ac.uk email address to use it, but yeh, either steal it or buy it from there Mat.
  3. Kev, what speed is the RAM currently running at? If you remove the 3rd stick it should run at dual channel instead of single channel. This should in theory make it a bit quicker, unless it fills the RAM up. Personally I'd find out what speed the current RAM is supposed to run at and buy another 1gb stick. You can mix makes and models fine as long as it is the right type of RAM and runs at the correct speed. Ideally they should be the same make and model too though to avoid any complications with them needing different voltages.
  4. Stop using the on-board and get a GTX460 and it'll improve the gaming performance massively Dan. Glad to hear the monitors working well, just told my uncle to get one. Gonna order it on my account though; I get free postage from OCUK. Luke, If you only have around £350 to spend I'd recommend that Primo Drone with a GTX460 in it. Nicely balanced spec IMO.
  5. Did you get that computer from OCUK in the end mate? How's it faring? How's the monitor too? My brother is thinking of getting one. I used to have that pic of Stan as my wallpaper.
  6. If you have a matching pair of PC3200 (DDR400 or 400mhz) 1gb modules, you'll get over £30 for them easy Paul. Check these out later on, I reckon they'll go over £30 easily. One. Two. And for some really high quality DDR400 prices, check this out. Bare in mind that I recently bought a pair of brand new, unused, sealed in the packet 1gb 1066mhz DDR2 modules for £25, and it certainly starts to look like silly money. For 2x2gb 800mhz/1066mhz DDR2 modules you're looking at around £50-£60. A single 512mb isn't worth a fat lot to be honest, if it's 400mhz you might get around a tenner for it.
  7. Yes. DDR1 and DDR are the same thing, it was never officially called DDR1, it's just been named that in conversation later on. DDR ram is getting worth silly money now, especially 1gb and above modules. If I were you, I'd trawl ebay for 2x512mb modules that run at 333mhz. It shouldn't need any more RAM than that, and going to 2gb won't cost twice as much, it'll cost 3-4 times as much. (Based on my attempts at getting 2x1gb from ebay over a year ago).
  8. My halls are £69 a week, bills semi-included. (They give you a load of leccy to start with, and if you run out you have to buy more). I'm doing my placement year next year, so I can't really look for somewhere to live because I don't even know what city I'll be in...
  9. Above £600 I completely agree with Anzo, but the £150 jump from £450 to £600 is massive in my experience. My current build cost £730 to build, and it's not much different to a £600 one, it just happens to have 2 hard drives and a £170 graphics card.
  10. I quit in october, 6 week gap then I started again. I wanted to though, didn't "need" too. I just love it.
  11. I always say it's the best way to get exactly what you need, it takes a lot of learning about components though. Also it takes a while to get the "feel" of it. Like understanding geo on trials bikes but more importantly how it effects the ride.
  12. 2" here tops. Centre of Sheffield though so it's always pretty warm. Loads of people and buildings packed in heating the place up.
  13. £400 will get you an OK rig, but £650 will get you a MUCH better setup.
  14. Cheapest place to get Black Ops online? Either for 360 or PC, not sure which I'll need yet. It's for my bro for xmas.

    Which Headset?

I've had a Pig, it was awful. Mad heavy, and I could never get it to sit straight in the frame so it always had binding points. Had one of these, best headset I'ver ever owned. Fit and forget! http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=550&category_id=19
  16. Anyone awake? Bit of a flop-ish night, so I'm home but not ready to sleep yet.
  17. I have a free weekend Rich. PM me.
  18. I'll leave it until it's released in final form them. I don't have trouble with lag really, my setup is pretty beefy.
  19. It's tricky, but fun. I'm trying to do the whole game like that now. My weapon of choice is the Scar on semi-auto, silenced with the reflex sights. I never really liked Warhead as much to be honest. Can't recommend any levels really, apart from Physis, which is more of a laugh than a proper level.
  20. What are the advantages over Opera 10? Any changes to the rendering engine? Might have to give it a looksie, but if they're changing the rendering engine I won't until it's on "proper" release, in case there are any bugs for when I'm testing/developing.
  21. Does no-one else think that it's madly cheap to live in the UK now and has been for years? If you look back to the 70s, the average family went on holiday once a year, had one telly and one car. Now everyone has mobile phones, computers, several tellys in the house, games consoles, more clothes than you can wear in a fortnight etc. It's a bit of a dip but nothing to cry about. The worst is yet to come when the country as to pay off the big debt that labour took out to bail out the banks. A few months ago I read somewhere that the country as a whole isn't generating enough profit to even pay the interest on the load it's that big. For the average family, I don't think there has ever been a better time to live than the last 5 years or so.
  22. Have you tried downloading levels that people have made? They're usually really shite in my experience. I still love playing it though. I'm trying to do it without changing the suit's limitations now (making super-speed/cloak last forever etc), which is a lot more fun. I'm on the level where you have to storm the school, but I want to complete it without setting the alarms off once. I bought a magazine a few months back because it had Crysis 2 on the cover, and it had loads of info about that. They're basing it in a city because then the distances that you see will always be shorter, so lower spec graphics setups (consoles...) will be able to run it. It's actually being made for the consoles first, then it's going to be ported to PC. I'm not expecting much.
  23. A gaming sub-forum would never work, but a Technical one sounds good to me, although is it really needed? We have the Gaming Thread now, and the IT Tech Support thread. These two cover pretty much everything technical that gets posted in ChitChat anyway. IMO they should be made stickies and then just leave it be.

That's not what I meant at all, just trying to up the banter. I know I'm not useless at design/development, I just try not to mention it on here any more. Twitter for businessy shit, TF for play. I do act like a child on here, but only because it's more entertaining than being all serious, much the same way that you act up to your rep of being a b*****d. If you'd rather not have any banter with me any more though that's cool, no hard feelings.

I'm a student, therefore I'm not doing anything useful, or indeed good at anything. Yet.
