    French Cars

I love Peugeot 106's still, especially my little XS after hitting a fox at 100mph+ on xmas eve, (wheel arch came out but that's it ha) but thought This Video was amusing..
  2. From Personal experience I would say London or Bristol, to be honest Sheffield isn't too bad either. Every town has somewhere fun to ride, I'd say a town like Swindon wasn't the best place to ride, but it produced some amazing riders so just make the most of what you have!
  3. I don't try them on, you can guess what size you are pretty much. They cost about £8 a pair, Topman, River Island etc cost £25 for jeans that I'm just going to wreck riding? Primark is a mess anyway, there isn't particularly any definitive 'female' section, it's like a bloody jumble sale in there! I'm pretty skinny so my legs just look pathetically weak, rather than me looking very short in baggy jeans. I'm not going to argue with people, as I'm not that fussed about wearing them, they're very cheap (I'm a student), look more expensive than they actually are, and are good to ride in. If you don't believe you can't ride in skinny jeans then watch a few Mark Webb or Harry Main bmx web edits. Similarly baggy jeans don't affect your riding either, Ref Van Homan in Criminal Mischief or any rider pre 2005. Girls jeans are meant for girls, they suit the female form well (curvier than Male legs etc), I just wear them because they're cheap and I'm not that insecure/ freaked out by wearing them. If I wanted to judge I could ask why students wear massive jogging bottoms, no socks with flip flops in winter as normal day wear but hey they're MENS clothes right so it's ok. Tom
  4. I wear girls jeans mainly for riding bmx, and I like them simply because they cost £8 from primark in any colour, feel comfortable for riding, no chain/pedal/brake mount catching ever again and I'm pretty skinny myself anyway. I'm used to getting called Pigeon legs all the time ha, I'm not that bothered about what people think, I'm not an indie scene kid with ridiculous pointy elf shoes and a cardigan ha. I wear shitty adidas shin pads and the jeans hold them well etc, only gripe is the lack of pocket size. They are a bit hot in summer too, but I'm not really a 'sweater' anyway luckily!
  5. The yearly trials rider farmer tan competition at the end again should be amusing ha. On a serious note, can't wait!
  6. It's pretty wet here at the mo with some pretty ominous clouds, hopefully will brighten up though, Sheffield always turns around the weather somehow..
  7. I'll be up for it if someone from Sheffield/ Midlands/ on the way to Portsmouth from Sheffield wants to split petrol. I'll drive, just am a skint student so have little money! Tom

    University!

Oooh, West Street! Pretty nice up there and as Chris says, a stones throw to Dev Green, my favourite haunt when my ankles say no to street. Love Uni at Sheffield, it's too quiet at home so am looking forward to starting the new term and driving back up to the steel city!
  9. Doddy-has his head so far up Chris Smiths arse he hasn't seen daylight for a while. Digging at the trails in Yeovil, we always used to see Jim Davage and Smith turn up, come over and say hi, give a hand etc then ride really well. Doddy-rolls up, rides over some of our unfinished work, cruises around and looks at us like scum, I said hi and he simply ignored me even though he was right next to me. Really made me think 'Just because you have bigger wheels than me you think you're it you c***. ' A fine example of all the gear but no idea! Jamie Hibbard-great writer, I think everyone grows out of MBUK but it was good while I was young and impressionable. Tom
  10. Exactly what I would have said Mark, sturdy wrists and ankles for sure though! Oh and had my first chain snap today pedalling towards a flatbank-sorry knee! Tom

    Fred Judd

I like it, but also thought it was too relaxed! Be more aggressive with your riding Fred, riding was awesome, especially back to front on Debenhams bench, but you could push it further... Editing and clips were brilliant, liked the moon at the end, really sums up night riding in a way. Tom
  12. Bongo-it will come back eventually. At the start of the summer I got cocky at my trails and decided to combine going slow and trying to boost the lips. I wasn't 100% happy with the lip I'd half finished but went ahead anyway. Bam! Hung the front wheel up and landed from 8-9' in the air onto my neck/ collarbone onto rocks we had pulled from the landing. Got up then realised something was pretty wrong-there was a lump protruding from my shoulder and I was starting to feel really sick. Collarbone was broken in 3 places, the day before my exams and right at the start of the summer, the time of year when I seem to progress fastest. Cue 12 weeks of awkward sleep and not being able to lift stuff comfortably I got back on my bike for The Rebel Jam in Berlin. I was sick of riding, did not see the point in risking myself as I'm not even a great rider anyway so was no loss to my life. I'm so glad I got back on my bike and went to Germany, meeting some of the friendliest riders and just having a laugh with my mates that I travelled with was simply amazing. Absolutely loved the mellowpark and street in Berlin. Got back from there and had to work loads to save money to go to uni so didn't ride much. Fast forward to now and I'm finally now feeling like I'm pushing myself to progress. Sheffield is amazing for riding as is the attitude of alot of the riders here. Despite the constant aching of thumbs and wrists from harsh street riding here, I love it and am riding most days/nights despite it being bloody freezing! I guess it depends how bad your injury is, but riding seems to just make days easier to deal with, and gives an insight into the most awesome social life I could ever want. Met a friend of yours, Bongo,-guy called Dave, who has loads of arm tatoos and is a chippy? So I will actually come to Liverpool to ride at last, it's alot nearer for me now! Tom

    Speedcameras

Logging onto my computer this morning and saw the headline about speed cameras giving 6 points instead of 3 if you are quite alot over the speed limit: BBC News Article Not looking good, though if you speed in a residential area (30-40) then you're stupid really, always the main focus of Police and speed cameras. Tom
  14. Not bad but I think most of my friends were at the same stage after a few months of riding. A friend of mine, Lloyd is just 15 and can invert tables, turndowns, whips, no handers, 360 spines and do huge airs. Think I may have to make a video if you guys thought that was a display of talent on a bmx. In know way do I think that Jimi Michael is rubbish-he's an interesting rider with loads of potential but alot of 15 year olds I know are complete shredders! Tom

    Nass

I reckon the weather should be good, Ive had my run of bad luck now as Empire of Dirt was cancelled, my collarbone got broken in 2 places and had to get 2 new tyres for my car this week as they both mysteriously went flat with screws in them-I've barely driven at all in the last month! All will be forgotton if it's dry for a weekend! Tom
  16. Ah that Tomorrow We Work promo was perfect in many ways; Great riding, varied locations, neat graphics, well chosen music I haven't heard before and all kept in a short length. Has given me great hope for when I can eventually ride again when my bones heal and also hopefully if I get the required grades for Sheffield in August. Good post on the Empire Chill Bro vid too, Chase Hawk, Aaron Ross and Dylan Smith alwyas make you realise how nuts some riders are! Built up a friend's wheels this week in the illuminous yellow colour Odyssey hazard rim. Against black tyres those rims hurt my eyes! lol. Tom

    Hop Idol.

I remember Timbo winning it one year, not sure which though. Riding was pretty awesome then. I entered in 2005 and rode SHIT but had a laugh, remembered not being able to ride at all as my hands were sweating so much. Shrewsbury, Andy P and Manning rode really well, Fatmike pulled a one hander to drop! Fun weekend for sure. Tom
  18. Is that Ringwood skatepark? Like the photos lots. Tom
  19. Isn't everyone? Don't tell me you're still running a brake you pussy? Am joking by the way, although I'm sure Akrigg could manage brakeless trials for a laugh. Tom

    Crocs!

That site made me laugh quite alot, especially the photo of George Bush in them, says it all. Oh and quote from the blog: 'In the great words of that wise Ancient Grecian, Aesop, "United we stand; divided we fall. Oh, and f**k Crocs."' Tom
  21. As do alot of the people I know do, I usually drive faster on motorways and dual carriageways and when overnight driving on wide roads but when I'm home (country lanes etc) I take it pretty easy. I always think that if I get caught speeding it won't be because I was unlucky it would be because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. If you speed then you should be just as focused if not more on the road and drivers around you. Yuor stopping distances are longer along with your reduced reaction time if there is an accident up ahead. I'm always checking really far ahead and in my mirrors for cameras, police etc. Cameras have signs warning you, are posted on maps, and are clearly bright yellow! One journey up north scared me so much though which after realising was quite amusing; Travelling under a bridge on the A34 near Newbury there are lines on the road without a camera, so driving through there I maintained my speed only to see my whole car light up from a flash behind me. After shitting myself I then looked again and saw it was a lorry driver with high mounted lights taking the piss. About an hour on from there on the M69 I looked over my shoulder, saw a car in the right hand lane and indicated, waiting to pull out. The car had caught up pretty quickly but then slowed down and flashed me to pull out as I was going pretty quickly. As soon as I pulled out and started accelerating, the guy behind put his blue lights on and all the traffic around me slammed their brakes on and the police (thankfully as I was expecting a nice train journey home without a license if recorded) swerved through 4 lanes onto the slip road. After my heart slowly slid back where it should be it was pretty uneventful thankfully! Tom
  22. Bristol: http://www.ridebmxmag.co.uk/video/ride-video/bs3 Oh and Mark, half way through, there is a guy in a stripy t dping an over ice on the afore mentioned banks near to the crazy roundabout I found. I still think I've only seen 10% of what Bristol has to offer! Tom
  23. Ah what a fun week-started to really progress with my riding and put my brake back on to good use by learning opposite fufanus on ramps. Unfortunately testing a new set of jumps we've been digging sent me over the bars mid air onto my shoulder, snapping my collarbone in two places. What a bitch! Pretty stressful as I have exams for the next 3 weeks and it is my right clavicle thats broken. Make the most of riding for sure as I have quite a few weeks without it! Tom
  24. Peepshow dvds? Failing that I hear Nathan Barley is returning soon. Great stuff. Tom
  25. Yeah Jonny, nicely done. Was nice to see how much people have improved. Rich has justified running such low tyre pressures aha. Although I feel Nicky G could have easily spun some double crankflips off the smaller drops? Couldn't get down there but will be at Abingdon to remember the great man. Tom
