  1. I do not say this lightly: One of the best trials videos EVER made. It is my hope and belief that this video beckons in a new era for street trials videos. It is rare that such creativity & innovation is matched with the skill, dedication and commitment to turn an idea, of what may be possible, into a reality. Inspirational to say the very least. Peace
  2. Nice one for uploading the video it brings back a lot of memories! It was a fantastic day out but the editing fairy decided not to include my ugly mug in the final cut. (If you squint enough you can probably make me out in the background though!) I've got a scan copy of the MBUK article on my website: slowprogress.co.uk --> MEDIA --> PRESS (Second one from the bottom) Peace Barlow
  3. What's the score for tomorrow (Sat 18th)? If it's pooring down does anyone want to go and do the black runs at llandegla??
  4. I'm not in North Wales on Saturday - pah! So... Who's keen for a big mid week ride as well before Partz heads back?? WEDNESDAY 15TH? RHYL? Have a good ride tomorrow

    1 Min Vid!

Loved that! Short & sweet and lots of fun
  6. Thank you everyone for all the feedback and the positive comments – much appreciated In response to my website having sections regarding my faith, I make no apologies. It is the central thing in my life and everything else I do (biking included) is impacted by that. Consequently when making a personal website I can't help but talk about my Lord. So whilst I consider it a vital part of the site, I have tried to do it without ramming it down anyone’s throat. I hope I have succeeded in that. Peace Barlow Oh yeah, it's true, the photo gallery was a paid for and downloaded application
  7. New Chris Akrigg podcast "Day at the Seaside" Very inspiring, super smooth, balls out, brakeless riding! What more can you ask for! http://www.vimeo.com/3294280 Peace Barlow
  8. The indoor venue is looking better than ever mate (very jealous!) Love the first pic of the gap to front nearly as much as your very swish Yaabaa. Catch up soon Barlow
  9. www.slowprogress.co.uk Any feedback & constructive criticism greatly appreciated. There are a few sections that were included in the 2008 slowprogress website that I have not included in this site. I may upload them depending on the feedback. Also the 'Bikes' and 'Kit' sections are not yet complete as sponsorships negotiations are still underway with certain companies. Peace Barlow
  10. Brilliant! This reminds me of the good old days, when trials was actually trials and.... (20 mins of grumpy old man rant)... ooops sorry about that but it really does remind me of the good old days! Cultiv8ed was brilliant back in the day - great to see it make a re-appearance. Thumbs up! Peace Barlow
  11. You're right, it wasn't posted on here without the cash incentive so it's the other high-risk sport participants in the world that respond when you wave dosh in their face - hehe. I think that anyone who has ever had the torture of trying to collect data from obscure populations, like you by the sounds of it, will have some degree of empathy and often spare a little time regardless of any incentive. After data inputting this afternoon so far the sport of bike trials is the most represented sport in the sample - THANKS EVERYONE!! Unless I'm reading it wrong I believe psycholist is arguing the very same point as yourself. You're right, it's definitely more interesting studying risk takers than couch potatoes! Peace Barlow
  12. Absolutely fantastic! More quality lines than in Amy Winehouse's dressing room Thanks for the inspiration.
  13. Apparently money can't buy you happiness, but as it turns out, it certainly can buy you participants I had the questionnaire online for two days and got thirteen replies. So I added the cash incentive and in two days got.... 200 replies
  14. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to fill out the questionnaire so far. Everyone's replies to the thread are really interesting; it's great to hear people's thoughts. A few people have been asking what the study is about... I DO really want to respond to those questions RIGHT NOW but it would invalidate my results if someone first read about the objectives of the study and then completed the questionnaire. Once data collection is finished I am happy to post details in this topic, if that is something that people would want? (If anyone is interested, and doesn’t want to wait for a few months, then I'm happy to send them info once they have completed the questionnaire) I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND AND IT ONLY INCREASES MY GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHO ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO WORK THROUGH THE ENTIRE THING! These are the sort of recurring comments that I feel obliged to respond to straight away (it will have no adverse effects on the results) The reason I want to respond is that if you all are being good enough to fill it out then you should at least know why the item content of certain questions seems alike!! I do admit that there may appear to be a relatively substantial amount of repetition (or near repetition) in the questions. One (of many) of the aims of this current study is to develop a new measure to differentiate between the experiences of high-risk sport participants across various sports. Whilst each factor (before, during & after being the 3 factors) currently has 43 questions, that will be reduced down to 20(ish) in the finished scale. The details of why we need to start with 40 odd to end up with 20 odd are very boring and include the method of “confirmatory factor analysis structural equation modelling” so lets just not go there!! The important bit is at this stage the questionnaire is currently a royal pain to fill out, but one of the things you all are helping me with is the development of (hopefully) a valid and reliable questionnaire that WILL NOT BE a royal pain to fill out. Thanks again Peace Barlow
  15. Why do you participate in high-risk sport? What is it that makes some run from risk whilst others actively seek it? These are fascinating questions I hope you'll agree. I am a PhD research student examining these very questions and I would like to know about YOUR EXPERIENCES as a participant of a high-risk sport. Win up to £70 easily...  YOU MAY WIN £20 SIMPLY BY FILLING OUT AN ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE  YOU MAY WIN AN ADDITIONAL £50 BY REFERRING OTHER HIGH-RISK SPORT PARTICIPANTS TO COMPLETE THE QUESTIONNAIRE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To find out more details and to share your experiences by completing the ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE please visit: http://www.highrisk.slowprogress.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank-you in advance, Matt Barlow m.barlow@bangor.ac.uk

  20. I made a M.A.D. team vid of Si Harvey and myself riding in Mallorca a couple of years ago and the pesky pixies that plague my life seem to have stolen it! Does anyone happen to have it saved and is willing to upload it for me please? Thanks in advance Peace Barlow EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions of looking on my team's website but the quality of that version is shocking. I was hoping someone had it in the full quality original version.
  21. Thanks for the comments We've changed the website and added new vids (see first post) Peace Barlow
  22. Check out the 'High Definition' page of Paul Higginson's website... resolutionvideo.co.uk There's an experimental trials video on there featuring Will Arnold. All feedback is appreciated. Peace Barlow EDIT: Thanks for the feedback. Related to the comments, we have made alterations to the website. Brokentime Trials vid is now available as a Quicktime download (zipped as .rar due to the limitations of Flash) Award winning 'Tread on Slate' shot back in 2005 also online now (High quality version to follow later in the week) Simon.. Any ideas how to "Save Target As.." in Flash 8?
