  1. Count me in. Ross, do you know if Hamish is coming?
  2. Just before my old Hope Mono died, it started making noises like that. Turned out the drive ring was totally knackered - maybe this is the case with yours? Either way, take it apart and have a look at the freehub area in general.
  3. Ross, wtf?! What was that all about?!
  4. Nice one Ross, made me look as awesome as I really am . Was good though, I'm away in a tent the now, even made the trek to the nearest village to use the Libraries internet connection to see it...
  5. Nice one Hamish, those are some pretty shit hot photo's. Although I don't quite approve of your photography altogether. My trousers appear to be a bit more purple than they are in real life...
  6. Giro Hex ***. Similar to the xen but way cheaper...
  7. HAHAHA! What about my neck? It's the coolest neck in the world!
  8. Hey guys, me and a couple of mates (Glasvegas, Balfa, and a few other folk) are thinking about taking a wee trip to either Paris or Barcelona for a few days riding. Has anyone been to either, or both? If so, where are the spots and which city would you recommend as the best place to go? We're looking for purely riding oriented feedback here as we aren't going to have time for the tourist destinations. Cheers, Strath.
  9. Nice one Ross, the Ashtons looking really good, and that rail ride was a bit cheeky. Watch out for the new Adamant though, its the sex. Just got to sort my freehub out and its all good.
  10. Geology ***! I'm doing it as well. You done any Geophysics units?
  11. So glad Uni's over for the year. Just finished my last exam. I totally sympathise with you on the computer labs till 10.30 thing. Pulled an 8am till midnight for a week running. I thought I was going to die I'd drank so much coffee. I'm still getting comedown shakes from it...
  12. Ooooh Ross! :$ On top form there. So pissed I couldn't come out - was revising "Geophysics" Loved Hamish's wee accident at the end. Every time he sidehops I wince for his knee...
  13. I upgraded to Zoo bars from the Tryalls I was running, so I needed a new stem to fit the larger diameter. Problem was, I was in love with my trusty Raceface Prodigy that I've had for years, and wanted something similar in rise and length. Got a V!z stem, only had it for few weeks now, but the quality of machining is excellent, easily as good appearance wise as my Raceface, and seems to be just as stiff. Previously I'd never used V!z parts before, but my experience with this would definitely make me consider them in the future. In terms of my stem, it was nice to see something that looked good, as if someone had invested time and effort in the design process, as opposed to the mass produced Echo and koxx/Tryall stems everyone seems to be running which basically look like a few sections of pipe crudely welded together.
  14. I reckon they look fairly nice. I'm one of those dirty perverts that like to run blue parts, so I approve. Don't know what so many people on here have about blue/multicoloured stuff, but its not like your going to get leprosy from it. Cranks and blue hosing are pushing it a wee bit too far for me, and I wouldnt choose the forks, but thats a personal thing. Otherwise, not too shabby
  15. I've ridden up a a fair few sets of stairs on my trials bike. Me and a mate got bored one day and had a competition trying to race each other up a huge set near where we usually ride. Felt like we had square/triangular wheels whilst doing it, but it was fairly easy. Just have to keep the momentum going.
  16. I run Middleburns and what Ben said happened. Though I do run my cylinders pretty far from the rim. But still, he's got a point. I thought it happened with quite a few frame/crank combinations in general since frames started getting wider at the back?

    Rail Bail

Lucky you've got long legs or there could've been some nasty ball/rail interfacage going on. How was your ankle after that? Looks like it twisted pretty badly when you landed.
  18. I've got the chain tightening mid - revolution problem. I think I heard someone suggest ages ago that it could be either my chainring at the front or my cog at the back had warped (i.e. become egg shaped) and the tightness was caused by the egg reaching its peak as it rotated. Since you run a front freewheel its a bit harder to explain, but maybe its become warped somehow, or the cog you run at the back? Since I run a singlespeed its pretty easy to determine this, but since you run a cassette its a bit more difficult. Does the tightening occur on one dominant cog of the cassette and not on the others, or does it happen on them all? If its them all, I'd look at the freewheel a bit more closely, but if only one cog causes it, maybe its warped. I used to use one main "trials cog" when I ran a cassette, so all the really hard stresses were concentrated on it, whereas the others were mainly used for transport or the odd bigger run up. Could be worth checking anyhow, though I don't know if its complete bullshit. It does seem logical though, so give it a try.
  19. I'm running a 2.35 High Roller just now and its got miles of clearance, even though my rim is completely flat spotted and buckled ridiculously. Can't say about the 2.4, but if you keep your wheel pretty straight I'd imagine you could get away with it.
  20. I'm running a Tryall rim in mine at the moment which according to Tartybikes is 47mm wide, 1mm wider than an Echo 07. At one point I was running a 2.5 Nokian NBX on it as well which was a complete beast of a tyre. Rim was fine, but the tyre clearance was a bit dodgy - it fitted as long as the wheel was perfectly true, but as soon as I put a bit of a kink in it, it'd rub on the frame really annoyingly. My qr skewer kept slipping a bit which also made it rub. I'd say the rim should be fine, but if the Kenda's a similar size to the Nokian I was running, clearance might be a bit dodgy. Edit: What Ben said about the break cylinders is also true. I had to piss around for a while in order to get the crank/slave cylinder clearance right cos I kept bashing them every pedal revolution. Although, I run my cyclinders fairly far out from the rim as a personal choice, so if you run yours pretty close it should be totally fine.
  21. I had the same problem with my Adamant as well. Screwed the non drive side in by hand and it went in without any effort at all, but the drive side was a total b*****d. It took a real effort to get it screwed in, but I did it in sections to make sure I wasn't destroying the threads, and it's fine now. It seemed like the anodizing on the bb cup was too thick, but after being scraped away by getting screwed in it was all good. I took it out to remove the filings from the bb shell, then it went back in by hand without a hitch.
  22. Should've let me know man, I'dve been over for that in a second. Where's the big tiled bank that Danny fakied off?
  23. Hahahaha! Those guys have definitely got their priorities right. Brilliant riding as well.
  24. Nice video guys, I really enjoyed that. Riding was better than I thought it'd be by a mile and the music was pretty cool as well. Keep it up!
