  1. Damn you Ben. I was meant to be doing uni work today. Now I want to go out and ride. I hope you're happy with yourself. Sunday was an excellent video - been to some of those spots with Ross recently and the lines you were doing are massive. As for the tgs video, I get the feeling a lot of people don't understand it was made with tongue planted firmly in cheek and are genuinely trying to compare the two. Either way, when SOAD came on, I burst out laughing.
  2. When you refer to your football results, I'd replace "many great feats" with something like "considerable success". "Many great feats" sounds a little verbose compared to the rest of the smart, functional, but low key text. In other words, it sticks out like a sore thumb and interrupts the flow of the writing.
  3. I'll be there. Anyone got a space for me in a car?
  4. Sweet stuff Towler. Thoses Tillydrone rail rides were totally hilarious
  5. Sweet. I'll be through on the train that arrives at 1.
  6. How about George Square - right next to the station. It's our usual town centre meeting point. As for time, I can be through as soon as 1. I think Ross gets off around then?
  7. Well for me to get the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow is a tenner return. Linlithgow's a couple of stops after Edinburgh on the route, so I'd imagine max price'd be a tenner, probably slightly under (like 6 or 7 quid). And to Ross - yeh, haven't been riding properly for about 8 weeks now, so it'll be good to get out again. The adamant'll hopefully be making an appearance as well.
  8. I might come along, depending on the amount of uni work I've got. To be fair though, you should just hop on the train to Glasgow - it's about 40 minutes away and brilliant for riding (Ross and Rob'll back me up on this).
  9. Sweet stuff guys, really disappointed I missed that. What does Ross think he's doing rocking the semi lycra muscle shirt/shorts combo?
  10. Johny, do you boys at Macdonalds ever do any work?! Cos from what I've seen, heard, and what you've just posted, all you seem to do is dick around, look at porn and make random stuff out of cardboard boxes
  11. Slather some spray paint inside the grips, slide them onto the bars and leave to dry for 15 minutes. I've done this with Halfords foam grips and it works a treat. Once they've worn out you might want to consider a different brand of foam grip though - I've noticed the Halfords ones become really baggy and detach from the painted bars as they get more worn. Monty and Trialetch ones stay tight untill they're destroyed, even if they're put on without paint.
  12. The riding and pictures were top notch. The writing made me cringe though.
  13. If it's after the 16th of July, then yeh. I haven't ridden in about 6 weeks now, so I can't wait to get back out.
  14. Ross, that bikes a complete barge - get back on the Ashton you filthy slag.
  15. My 21st was on Friday. "That's not unlucky!" I hear you all cry, but instead of spending it with friends, family, and drink in hand, I spent it on my own in a caravan in the highlands doing my uni dissertation fieldwork. Not the greatest birthday I've ever had.
  16. A part of my soul died whilst watching that. So did my faith in humanity.
  17. Just keep it in your room. When you have a room inspection, which I'm assuming will only be a maximum of 3 times a year (i.e roughly one per semester) put it outside or in another mates room, or in the wardrobe with the wheels off (the option I chose). That'll work fine in most places. My room didnt get cleaned by halls staff though - we did it ourselves so there weren't any pesky cleaners to complain, but if your room is cleaned, just get on the good side of your cleaners and they won't be too bothered. Certainly wouldn't risk leaving it outside - the walls and door of my halls bike shed were built like a bank vaults, but the guy who designed it had put a corrugated iron roof on the top. The theives simply climbed onto the roof and cut a hole in it before lifting out every bike of value.
  18. The kevlar edged one is a bmx one (FBM), I think Dave was just using as an example and the actual seat would look like the first one, but with kevlar. Is that right? Oops. My bad. But I still stand by what I said - the kevlar version would still be a pretty commonplace design. The embossed one's the way to go.
  19. The embossed one for certain - its got a unique appearance which really makes it stand out. The kevlar edged one just looks like any other run of the mill BMX seat you can pick up everywhere.
  20. You could just order one from planet x's website. That's where I bought mine. http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/acatal...da_Cog_202.html They're labelled under a different name here, but they're exactly the same cog in every way. Edit: Realised I was being a complete pap and mistook on-one for surly. The on one's a brilliant cog though - very similar in design to the surly, and extremely well made.
  21. Yep, should be good banter.
  22. Yep, it's a sweet wee place for certain. Can't wait for end of exams - gonna be up there as much as possible. How many of you were out today?
  23. It's columnar jointing - formed by fast cooling of basaltic lava. As it solidifies at speed, it cracks and forms those perectly hexagonal columns. Pretty strange indeed.
  24. On a similar yet entirely unrelated note, he campaigned to become chancellor of my university. SO SO SO glad that people had the intelligence to look beyond his apparently "quirky" personality and realise that his policies were complete bullshit and would have cost the average student about 2 grand extra per year in top up fees (which we don't have up in Scotland), which he claimed would improve the standard of education we recieved. It terrifies me to think some people were stupid enough to vote for him (quote) "because he had funny hair". Were the majority of London's population taken in by the seductive power of his leonine mane, or do they actually believe he'll do a good job?
  25. But the majority of riders grind their rims, and give or take minor differences in performance, almost all pads on the market will perform better as a result, regardless of compound. Isn't everyone forgetting this? I'm willing to bet that not many people on here (apart from those more into the streety/manual side of trials, and who need modulation) would run a smooth rim and trust to the pads alone for grip, because it wouldn't work. Not many pads are out on the market which could perform as well on a smooth rim as they could on a grind. People seem to be forgetting that they use the equivelant but more durable form of tar by grinding their rims, and because this is so commonplace a practice, have come to confuse the performance of the pads with the performance of the grind. Danny's just doing what we all do - getting that little extra bite out of our pads by any means possible, and if tar is his thing, then why not? Obviously it wasn't the smartest move putting the tar application scene in to coincide with the pad sponsors name, but to criticise him for doing what we all do oursleves is some serious hypocrisy. Rant over. As for the riding, you've got some seriously massive stuff going on there mate. Sidehops and front wheel gaps are completely huge. You should start to combine them into lines though - if you started doing that, and throwing some of those 180's you did in for good measure, you'd have a really nice combination which would bridge the gap between "street" and tgs. Awesome stuff.
