    Full Cnc Frame

Cool, I'll look into that and post a bunch after I get it all welded up.

wow this takes awhile, and I can only fit one per post? 750MB photo files. Is there another way?

The nice thing about aluminium is that it's 100% recyclable, but it's not cheap. So this frame will probably have to retail in the Koxx range not the Deng range, but like I said before the dollar is weak. so... I am interested in sponsoring an elite rider, riders. There is a stock version coming, and there is a list of parts as well. The full cnc frame... It's a great idea, but out of reach for most. As I mentioned before, the material alone would equal the cost of a Koxx frame. I am going to finish welding it tomorrow, can I post lots of big pictures here?

One solid piece would be fantastic! But god damn... Let's see... It would be a 1000x390x140 billet... that's a 325 lb block of aluminum... That would be somewhere around $1300.00 US for the billet. And a 5-axis mill that costs roughly a quarter of a million dollars... I think I'll stick with a weldment for now. Ash, I'll write you at some point or you can write me hinmaton@tektonics.com I'm always interested in going over ideas and concepts. I will make these available outside the US. And there is a stock frame coming. Shit, with the dollar as weak as it is, even with shipping these should be reasonable.

Sorry Ash... I thought what I designed was fairly original. I geuss there are very few original ideas anymore. So cheers- good idea!

Thanks guys! The ladder rungs were added as a way to counter torsional forces. I attempted to slim them down to decrease the weight penalty.
  7. If you are going to weld a gusset straight over the welds, be sure to drill out the ends of the cracks to keep them from creeping. Really wouldn't be a bad idea even if you are going to weld the cracks up, then put a gusset over it.
  8. How long had you been riding with this chain before it snapped? It looks kinda beat and needing of replacement. I've found the Shadow V2 to be a monster of a chain.
  9. They are fairly easy to put in and can help with chain length problems, but they have a tendency to fail. I have tried three diferent times to use them, both on 1/8" chains and 3/16" chains, they failed each and every time. Some of the times the chain has stretched to a point that I can do without the half link, on my current mod set up I cannot use a fresh standard chain. I'm using the Shadow V2 now, it's well worth the dough.
  10. Heading to MN. Looking for an eno freewheel and a couple of hope mono trials.
  11. I snapped a KMC half-link chain in under an hour, but I think that was due to installation error (by others) I'm running the S.C. v2 and I am very happy with it. It's a beast! I'ts got some heft to it, but I think it's a fair exchange for the removal of the weight of worry from ridding w/ a weenie chain.
  12. Get used to it- it's a stupid design on Magura's part to have a plastic threaded part. Easy to fix though, take the lever blade off, grab a set of channel locks or some sort of pliers with a reasonable sized throat. Slowly rotate the TPA (very small increments is all you can expect) in the + direction until it is free of the cross thread situation. I usually unthread it completely, then thread it back on- Now your golden... for a month or so! Or get the 74-kings bit from Tarty's and never worry about it again!
  13. http://www.uniquetrials.com/index.html it's in Florida
  14. Love the idea, tighten it up design wise, and you've got somethin'.
  15. I agree- in theory it should work out, but welding can create new stresses in the metal. I had an XTP frame that I cracked the down tube on, good size crack too. Welded it up, rode for an hour and the weld held fine, although a new crack developed just to the side of the weld. Oh well...
  16. As far as I know there aren't many trials shops that you can walk into on this side of the pond, there are very few trials specific shops in the states period. And it 's slim pickin's at best. So if you buy anything out side of Europe you have to pay an import tax? Is it based on a monetary value or a per item basis? If you were sent it as a gift do you have to pay a tax? As far as I know we don't have to pay any duties for item we buy from abroad, it's just the shipping cost that becomes prohibitive. At least you all have some decent shops to go to... man what I wouldn't do to have a Tarty bikes near by.
  17. Mad_rider, there is a spell check function- use it. I ride both stock and mod, they both have there ups and downs- Try both and see what you prefer.
  18. KMC narrow- as in the 710? The 710 is a fine chain. If your doing gnarly drops and gaps swap up to the 810. I agree w/ Grant H- the chain and the teeth will more than likely be exposed. Why a 24?
  19. weather... if only... I can't ride for awhile as I've just had surgery on my hand, so I troll through the forums riding vicariously through the threads. For f**k sake, practice the basics in your room or hallway, go find a covered parking area. The beauty of trials is, you can always find a place to ride in some manner. Spend an hour improving your balance.
