You thought about the BT home hub option adam? i have one just now, and had my line upgraded as well so speedier net etc and it has ace signal, not had any problems with it, easiest thing ive ever had to set up... but comes as a whole package so you might have to change your service etc etc.

as long as it has firewire out then you will be laughing. DONT GET SOMETHING THAT ONLY ALLOWS USB OUT. the quality is shit. simple as that really. dont use digital zoom that much for trials movies, in fact you will find you will only place it as far away as need be because most people are filming individual moves etc etc. seems like na ok camera, i personally only got for PANASONIC OR SONY, but that is personal preference (and what im used to at home with televisions, VCR's, DVD players etc etc. as long as it has firewire out. go for it min.

see you have done it the complicated way IMO. but cheers anyway when i calculate it i normally divide the front cog by the rear cog. then higher the number = stiffer...... suppose your way is correct when your wondering which gear is best for each bike size etc etc, where as mine is better for finding how much stiffer a gear will be. meh
