Mid weight 26", tripple seat tube - Jaf Bikes
Rob Leech replied to Rob Leech's topic in Bike Pictures
I'm afraid that's a Jaf Bikes secret . Not flexy at all, most that have been on it say it feels stiffer than their own frame, which has been quite a mixed bunch. I do also prefer the looks, but that's second to the diameter choices . -

Yep, Marino has done a few of them, but I think I can confidently say they're not as nicely made as this . -

Cheers all, geo is - 1075, 375, +45, 72.5 deg, 670 reach . I didn't have my scales with me at the time, but I'm guessing at around 1.9-2.0 kg weight wise . -
Hi all, so, rather frantically changed frames this weekend (got into the workshop at 8:30 saturday evening, came out the workshop at 9:15 sunday morning with this) and decided to do something that I haven't tried before. Let me know what you think . Nothing too special about the spec, so if anyone want to know, I'll pop it up then . Cheers, Josh.
-
Due to it's ridigity and high tensile strength, the carbon is used as a structural aid to help prevent the frame from failing again, absorbing the stresses put through the frame that caused the original failure to form .

steel midnight purple 24" comp bike build (new paint page 9)

Well, welding aluminium that has been treated to a certain specification to acheive it's ultimate strength is senseless. It still has to be welded in the first place . -

You'd better leave early then Carl . -
How do, me and Flipp are going to be heading down to reading tomorrow, so was just wondering if anyone else fancied a ride? We should be at the hexagons for around 11:30/12 . Cheers, Josh.

Pretty much, yes. But that's the joy of having the crack resistance of niobium .
-
It would be possible yes, but as Peter says, the clearance of the front sprocket would have to be looked into when building the rear end . The seat stays do join with the seat tube, but only very slightly. The main reson I do it is to reduce the amount of weld on the seat tube as it is one of the higher stressed areas when riding street (lots of spins and landing at 90 deg puts a massive amount of torsion on that joint) . Cheers all, Josh.

Hi Maxx, yes, it would be possible to wrap the whole lever. I didn't with these becuase they were simply for testing the concept . Cheers, Josh.
-
Hi all, I did these for Dave for free as they were just to test the concept and see if it had any structural effect on the levers . If anyone is interested in having it done, it is £12 for a single lever or £20 for a pair (all including return postage). Cheers, Josh Leech, Jaf Bikes.

Yes, very true. While I was testing the spacers out there was a problem with them shifting very slightly around the crank, resulting in them being pushed into the recess's in the ring, so they will now be welded (fused around the edges) to the bash (and with these being the grade they are, there will be no effect structurally ).
-
With the bashring covering an area above the center line of the freewheel, it won't be possible for the freewheel to move past the face of the bash . For that to happen, either the bash or the freewheel would have to deform . Think of it as putting half a washer under a bolt head. The washer would still prevent the bottom of the head touching the surface even tough it didn't cover the whole surface area of the head (weight weenie idea for you there ). Hope that hasn't cofused things even more . Cheers, Josh.

Just to show you guys some of the smaller details on a couple of the parts- Showing the toothed cams in use. Showing the positioning of the half ring and spacer. Sowing the cross-over clips on the 4 bolt booster. This is the first lot of test parts, so there will be a few small changes once they reach production . Ok chap, I'll let you know once they're ready . Cheers, Josh.

Joe, these will be available for both 10 and 12 mm axles once they are up for sale .

Marino Bike 2013 Team Rider Found & frame order discussion thread
Rob Leech replied to LEON's topic in Trials Chat
It did for me chap . Yes, that's true, so a price re-structure is in order. Pretty simple business practice. If that's not viable, don't take on the extra work when you know that you're not going to be able to meet the demands of the customer, or in this case, your own conditions of sale. Good to hear . -
Marino Bike 2013 Team Rider Found & frame order discussion thread

You guys keep talking about the masses of work that he has, if this is so (which I don't doubt at all, very much admire his work), why not bring more staff in? Pretty sure it has been said a few times yet I haven't seen a response? Pretty sure people aren't commenting on how they'd feel if they had ordered, but on how a large, well know company like Marino can't organise a handfull of orders over a 3 (4 now?) month period. And organizing a companies orders through an online messaging board via a second party that has pretty much nothing to do with the company? Not very professional now, ay? Especially when you have both said HE needs to work on it. From the experiences most of the people through this thread have had with him, please put up your topic. It'll be interesting to see just how quickly this turns around. And you can take that zero off my build times buddy . -

I hope you're going to at least offer a donation to the forum if you're planning to use it as a messaging service for a pretty well established company . -
The tabs sit above the center of the threaded section of the crank, so you'll have no trouble with it moving or coming off . Quite surprised that no one had look at removing this material before as it has very little use in the workings of the bash. Cheers, Josh.

Weights are- Snail cams- Toothed- 17g Smooth- 17g 180mm rotor- 101g (minus bolts, still waiting for them to arrive) 160mm rotor- 83g " " Full ring (including spacer)- 66g Half ring (including spacer)- 39g 4 Bolt booster- 72g (again, waiting for the bolts to arrive) 2 Bolt booster- 46g " " So not actually too bad I'd say, for the benefit of knowing that the product is able to take a good hammering . Cheers, Josh.

I'll get a price list up next week, still waiting on the last part of the packaging to arrive and then the samples are being sent out to the retailers . After that, I'll up the stock and make them available through the website . Cheers, Josh.
