  1. Some good tips on brake bedding in. Not run a disc before, just got new pads and rotor so will try the water thing tomorrow. Cheers guys!
  2. Aye, its called an economy of scale. An armani jacket costs about £10 more to make than a primark one (if that), yet costs £500 more... a ferrari doesnt cost £100k more to manufacture than a ford focus, yet thats how much more they charge, as people are prepared to pay that much. An item is worth whatever people will pay...
  3. You get what you give. If you rock up to a riding spot thinking you're different because you ride trials, you'll get attitude. If you smile at people, chat, ask questions and join in, no matter what discipline, you'll make friends. It is what you make it...
  4. Lots of scales made for angling mate, guess its a try it and see thing! I might get those i posted up earlier in the thread from ebay, want me to feed back if they're any good?
  5. Or a 36h tryall rim... arent the echo jobbies quite heavy for what they are?
  6. Tempted to buy them... might take em along to a ride and weigh everyones bikes, lol
  7. Angling shops. You can get scales used to weigh fish for around a tenner for mechanical, slightly more for digital. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DIGITAL-FISHING-WEIG...1QQcmdZViewItem These look like they'd do the job...
  8. I stopped riding when i was 19, and have just started again at 23... I find being a bit older and wiser helps in some respects, as you dedicate more time to learn, rather than just pissing about on your bike.
  9. If you ride a bt raven 5.0, why do you want a base ta 26??
  10. about 22.5 lbs i think. Whats the spec of your bike fella?
  11. Paint is the last thing id be spending money upgrading, lol at all the suggestions for that. A pretty colour wont help your riding if the other things arent sorted first. No one has mentioned pedals yet... it has plastic pedals?!! Some grippy pedals, some decent tyres, and some decent brakes pads. Then junk the gears in favour of a singlespeed set-up (22/19 would be a good start) and see how it rides from there...
  12. Spinnaker tower or whatever its called isnt it?
  13. Im bringing back pinky purpley red
  14. Lol. Sounds like a problem with the throttle system mate. No matter what any of the following posts will say, its impossible to diagnose it without taking it to a garage and taking the throttle body apart. Could be either gunk in the throttle body (which would cause it to stick open), the throttle cable/ drive by wire system, the accelerator pedal itself, or one of the throttle sensors.
  15. Id recommend tartybikes... best shop by far for customer service/ range of stock.
  16. Glad you got a longer bike sorted fella, that looks gorgeous! Let us know how it rides Dan
  17. Watch a riding video on youtube/ trialstube and see if other peoples brakes squeak when doing the same thing? The squeaks depend on what rim prep/ pads you're using. Some combinations are worse than others. If your riding is fine, then dont worry fella. If you feel the back brake is slipping and you'd like stronger braking, get stickier pads/ some tar/ a rim grind (to make the rim a rough surface, as opposed to smooth)
  18. Have just watched this, some brilliant riding there! Very smooth!
  19. Right... You have the right to a new freewheel regardless of what they've done fella. Ask to speak to the manager, and inform him that while the freewheel was in their care you dont know what they've done, but they've clearly mashed it. Inform him that if you dont get either £70 to replace broken parts, or a new eno freewheel from them, you're well within your rights to get a refund from him at the small claims court. Inform him that you will win the case without problems as his staff have damaged your parts while under their care, and thus the shop will be responsible for both sets of legal fee's. Further to this, if you dont get a full refund, you'll be calling the local papers with details of your bad service while your parts were in their care. Does he really want all this for the sake of a £70 part, when his staff were clearly at fault... ? Should do the trick. Bike shops are insured for their workshop services, thats meant to be one of the reasons for taking a part to the 'professionals' for maintenance... backup should things go wrong. Any more advice pm me if need be...
